ParticipantDamn, these days are aint safe anymore.. i think u better get the system fast. thank god your dad is ok.
They could come back again ( Lets hope not) . Does you dad car has any inidication of where u live and etc ??? maybe some utilities bills that states your address ? better change your house locks and etcc..
Because with that, they will mark you and they will most probaly come back ( Lets hope not ) but prevention is better.
Better get your family memebers to becareful when steppping out of the house.13 January 2008 at 12:26 am #6482TheFazz

sorry to hear about the armed incident. its terrible when you don’t feel safe these days.i am so glad that your dad and family are safe.
but aside from GPS – are there any other things that we can do to protect ourselves and our possessions?

ParticipantWell being all confused on the sudden shocked, finally the mind was clear and thinking at the better state, GPS system is basically to track down the car where it goes. And once it’s tracked, the operators will shut the engine down.
I heard of a tinted window that comes with a safety purpose where the window will crack but not break. And so the person in the car is a whole lot safer.

ParticipantWent out today to look for some information about this safety film tinted window. Naza, thanks for the contacts. Was able to contact that person and ask a couple of questions about pricing and etc. From my little survey, asking ppl around, it seems that this brand (not sure the spelling is correct) name Lumma is the best around. And had many branches around KL and PJ. They provided equipments for you to try and break the window down just to prove that it’s that good. But sadly there are not open on weekends.

ParticipantEdwyn/Naza,
Would you mind sharing detaisl of this product with the rest of us? Maybe in the classified ads section.
Good to share these things among friends in view of the rising crime rate in this country.

ParticipantEdwyn, sorry to hear the bad news. I am glad to hear nobody was hurt.
just for information, I used to have an alarm system with a transponder card which i kept in my wallet (my wallet is always in my pocket when I’m driving). 30 seconds after being out of range (i.e. hijack situation and you’ve stepped out the car) it will immobilise the engine.
It was a fantastic system except for one situation when my wife wanted to use my car. I pulled up outside my office jumped out the car as she hopped over to te drivers seat and I went up to my office. She nearly reached teh end of teh road (in heavy traffic) when the car alarm activated and the engine was immobilised!… embaressing but proven technology!
