Participantlooks like a challenging track. can’t wait to rip the black top …
[br]darn … the kart looks like CK’s trashed kart … sheesh … what a way to end a launch … =P1 April 2008 at 3:02 am #6788csetter

ParticipantLooks nice, looks cool and I agree with the comment about their kart. May be it is a trash kart, meant for display purposes only since they’ve not started the business. But hey, 9.9mil??

ParticipantI dont see any reason why we need so many kart circuits as most of the enthusiast requested for racing circuit. Ended up with white elephant project.
These people still dont learn and only care for their personal gain interest on the project. Many tracks, but lack of events.

Precisely…& that huge building that nobody’s gonna use in the end = white elephant…eg – how many ppl actually use CK’s 2nd floor to watch our events?
Say ppl…I’m sure there’s plenty of experts in our group. How much would you estimate for:
– 1.6km track, wich protective barriers, maybe some lighting
– Timing system
– Building – kart storage/mechanics
– Building – admin
– Spectator stand (like in Sepang – no need fancy aircond 2 story building..)
– Decent sound system.I’d say RM4.5 Mln tops?? I can build a fully functioning Shell station for less than RM 1mln (VERY generous estimate..big highway site)….that’s just to give you some benchmark.
Where does the RM 4.5Mln go to?…hmm..ask the man in the kart.. ๐
And who’s going to get the contract to run this track PROFESSIONALLY, BUILD GRASSROOTS MOTORSPORTS, PROVIDE VALUE FOR MONEY & SERVICE FOR CUSTOMERS? Again, ask the man sitting in the kart….
Anyway…SUBMIT your quotes/estimates here my friends!! Maybe we can even bid for the job..:P

ParticipantNow let’s look at the Economic Justification of this track.
Assumptions:
i) my-KART type events are run on this track, and it takes half day.
ii) Each my-KART type event generates RM5000 for the track operator
iii) Assume 20% profit margin for the track operator.
iv) Each event involves 50 participants on averageCalculation:
– Each my-KART type event generates RM1000 profit for the track operator
– You can run up to 4 my-KART type event per weekend, hence involving 200 unique participants
– To re-coup the RM9.9Mln, you need to run 9900 my-KART type events, and divided by 4 events/weekend -> 2475 weekends.
– Assume it’s 50 weekends per year (generous) -> 50 years of 4 my-KART events per year to recoup this investment.Hence, I would assume they would either charge a bomb for the events, and increase utilisiation of the facilities via rentals, on the weekdays.
The above is only assuming it’s a business case. Since this is a Government initiative to get Mat Rempits off the streets, it’s commendable, BUT:
For RM9.9Mln -> you could buy nearly 10,000 PC’s for schools, to improve their education, and probably build a couple of schools…provide scholarships, etc. This can even buy as many as 990,000 pieces of Ikan Bakar Umbai & rice & water to feed the poor….
As it is…for every weekend, you can involve up to 200 karters, but how many Mat Rempits can you get off the streets? There are thousands of them….and this is only 1 track….
Anyway – just a bit of fun…I’m wary of these projects nowadays…work out the sums for yourself…this is your money they’re spending…I get this way whenever Income Tax season is upon me!!

Heres the winning bid from Da Lobster with a nice healthy profit margin for Lobsters Inc.

Participantmmmm, Azlan has a good point about the RoI being so long. In which case we will liaise with the works ministry and install toll booths at the pit entry and exit points ๐
