Round 1, KART 2005 series

The 2005 KART season will start in earnest on the Saturday, 5th of January 2005.

What will the 2005 season be like? Certainly we shall see some close racing throughout the year as many of the drivers from 2004 continue to improve their performance and start to worry the regulars.

Some drivers from the K3 category will be eligible to “graduate” to the K2 category which will make the K2 category even tougher… whilst expect to see new faces and talent coming through in K3.

2004 K2 champion, Fazz Rahman will face a tough challenge from always quick Hafidz Fahro Rozi, Brian Eravelly and others as well as needing to keep an eye out on the 2004 K3 champion, Kevin Tan.

            Yupp… like this, we may have to split the groups in future myKART events. K2 morning, K3 afternoon or something. I will need to discuss further with Citykarting. {editted to avoid confusion for the coming event which will still be according to the normal timing … morning at 0730hrs}

      I’ll put you in the K3 class (80cc) then. K2 is for the 100cc… and K1 reserved for the day my-KART is able to organise races for drivers on 125cc karts. 😉

        K1 very soon…….last week a friend of mine (came to MyKart race once) and his friends bought 4 Rotax karts – 1 intrepid, 1 swiss hutless chassis (not sure about the other 2).

But the individual photos can be done as the day goes along. Need a few photographers though. I would like some close up portrait shots… but the “stiff” types. I’ll bring my small digicam.

        This will be a challenge. We will run 3 K2 groups. I also intend to tag some drivers for the K2 superchamps category… so that we can crown two K2 champs… those from the top group from 2004 and the K2 juniors. Of course K2 juniors can also be overall K2 champs… but they will get additional impetus to compete for another honour.

        K1 is a possibility once we have enough 125cc karts. I am a little reluctant on Citykarting’s rental 125cc we tested a few weeks back. Let’s see how this one develops.

          I have been pressing Citykarting for this. And trying to get more 100cc karts as well. Unfortunately, Citykarting has now quite a strong position in the market with Morac Elite now winding down its activities, and Sunway was not much in contention. So we don’t really have many choices.

          I would ask myKART members to be more careful with karts ourselves. Currently we can say that myKARTers are better on the machinery than their average rental customers. So that is a plus. The review was requested because Citykarting felt that the RM75 was too low for too long.

            if the karts are just abit slow( 2-3 secs slower)… i am not too bothered by it, but if its like that rotten no. 8 (remember karters, grey chassis with CRG stickers stuck on it near the pedals) i took last week which had its engine siezed, it just spoils the mood. the mechanic couldnt even pull the starter cord anymore….

            plus, it was doing 1:20 before blowing up in similar fashion to a jet fighters afterbunner, just like kimi’s mclaren last year.

            rm5 increase is very decent imho. i was expecting rm10 at least. are we running CCW btw?

    A few updates… in case you don’t notice it in the main event notification:

    1. Yusnee had to cancel… so seat went to A Razak (promoted from K3)
    2. jwrx (Jiun) gets the 22nd K3 seat
    3. Steven Chen cancelled, so seat goes to Rizal Halim.

    K2: Shaeran Baba
    K3: Tg Sofnis, Alexander McNab, Joon and Edwin.

    Citykarting informs me that we can run 12 drivers per sortie in K3… so this means that Tg Sofnis and Alexander McNab will be able to participate.

    In K2 – Hilmy had to cancel so, Sheran Baba will replace him. K2 – maximum karts availble is 13… but suggested to keep to 10 karts per sortie. So we shall remain with the 3 groups for K2.
