All my-kart members, pitstop.com.my members and fans of the A1 Team Malaysia are invited to join the special “race with the fans” event featuring the A1 Team Malaysia crew and drivers.
The event format will be team based race. We are targeting to get 18 teams of 4 drivers per team – for a 100 minutes endurance. Qualifying is another 20mins.
Team : 4 drivers
race : 100mins endurance + 20mins qualifying heat
Fees : RM350 / team (80cc) – partly subsidised (you cannot get this rate at other times)
RACE SCHEDULE:
7.30am – 8.00am : Payment collection
8.00am – 8.30am : Briefing & kart assignment
8.30am – 8.50am : Qualifying Heat
8.50am – 9.10am : Release of qualifying result
9.10am – 10.50am : Endurance Race (3 pit stops)
10.50am – 11.30am : Podium ceremony and closing

haha Yes! i lost exactly 2kg! god that was the hardest 2kg i ever lost. i spent a total of about 13 hours trekking around there for a mear 2kg!. luckly it only rained on the first night but by that time we had alrdy set up camp and were in our tents.

…just a note to the organisers,…..if you need ballast, better remind CK early about it cos it was left in Kota Bahru the last time we need it.

Sure there will be A1TM, 18 for my-kart and pitstop members and a few more for VIP. One sad news is, Alex is not in the VIP list, he is not available this weekend.

No worry about the ballast guys, it is already in the agenda since 2 months ago and we are having slight issue with it as this service is not included in the already low quoted price, but I WILL try my very best to get it without extra charges, for you (if you insist to add some weight on your kart 😛 ) JK!!

Regarding to the
Regarding to the overwhelming demand, we are going to have somewhere around 25 teams, 18 for MyKart-Pitstop and 7 more for the others including A1TM. Just yesterday, I was informed by A1TM that they will bring along one “Press Team” (consists of reporters from NST, MalayMail..etc).
We also have some other issue such as refreshment and souvenir (like last year, winning or not, you bring home something) to consider. As the event is round the corner, all these things are confirmed, based on 25 teams size. Apparently we don’t one someone to go home empty handed just because they are from the 26th team, put aside the track capacity and risk of having 20 over karts (from pro to first timer) racing together.
Therefore it would be great if all of you form a team of 4 and only 1 team per driver, so that more people have the chance to take part.

Thanks to Pitstop and the A1 team for organizing this wonderful event. For once I have to do nothing during an event. Basically just drive and not thinking of the arrangement. Hehehe~ Overall you guys did good.. actually excellent to keep the event running smoothly. Good job guys! And we shall meet again really soon in the end of the year.
Naza, it was close to the end even though we keep motivating Razak to push to the extra limit. But all thanks to Kacau Daun. It was a good race.

Thank you for the compliment guys, thank My-kart and Fazz for the helping hand as well. Do hope you like the t-shirt, souvenir, the food and most imporant, the race!! So sorry to hear that someone mis-taken Fazz’s t-shirt. I lost my phone charger as well.
My team had a bad day, starting from 14th I managed to pick up 3 places at lap 1 but I soon realized there’s something wrong with my throttle. It was FT all the time even when it was lifted. This caused me lap time, there’s nothing much I can do besides keeping the kart in control and hold position.
Few laps later the throttle finally “rested in peace”. The fuel cable broke in the middle of the long straight and for one moment I thought we are going to be the first team to DNF. The crew came in time, special credit to them! After examine the damage, they decided to call it a day for that kart, #21 but not my team as the mechanical failure has noting to do with driver’s error. They gave me a ride back to pitlane on motorbike and I was soon give kart #16.
Just as I thought the nightmare was over, NOT JUST YET!! I was already 3laps down when I finally rejoined, and to add to the pain, kart #16 is super slow at straight with almost zero grip, gosh!! Have to keep on reminding myself we were given a chance to continue and I have to at least pass the kart to my teammates, no way I can retire now!! changed my driving style a little to add more heat to the tyre (if I drive like this in a “normal” kart, I will suffer from overheated tyres) it feels better but the kart is still super slow!
Basically that’s what I had for my 20 over minutes session, but I would like to acknowledge my great teammates, especially Jac Soo who helped out training the team since March. None of us gave up, in fact we fought our heart out to unlap ourselves and finally finished 18th.
Team Kacau Daun had mechanical failure 2 laps before the chequed flag, they were officially 6th, big claps to them!! For starting from pole, setting the fastest lap and leading all the way until problems occurred. Too bad we were too many laps down to enjoy the free position.
Congratulations Team ULU YAM and all podium winners, big clap to all drivers too! All of you did a great job, good driving, no serious accident, no injury (touch wood) just pure dog fight! The standard was super high!! All of you deserve a big thumb up!! Well done and keep it up!
Last but not least, would like to thank my-kart, a1tm and Spritzer for helping me putting this together! It is a special day for us, thank you. Looking forward for “Karting with A1 Team Malaysia 2009”!

Someone’s front wheel ran over my rear wheel right before the turn in front of pit entry (I was getting ready for the long straight after that) he was totally behind me before the incident, not even side by side and the next thing I know is, his kart “fly” up to nearly my head level…hey that was almost 1m from the ground, luckily nothing serious happened.
I managed to turn around after the corner exit and I saw him recovering and continue chasing me, relief that neither him or the kart was damaged, really.
Don’t really know who he is, not even managed to see the kart number but it would be great if you see this, please intro yourself and keep me in touch.

I had to take up 2 stints due to OSFlanker being tied to the bed by Miss Fever.. everything was OK during the race but when I got home, straight away KO…
Had a few dogfights with some of u.. especially the 2 feisty female MyKart regulars. Me slow and kart oso not that fast, so have to content with racing with the girls instead.. Sorry if I’ve dragged anyone into my dogfight… 😉 Driving on clear track wasn’t as fun although the dogfight does nothing to improve the lap times..

Is MyKart going to upload the full results (lap by lap timing) for the race??? If City Karting can’t give the softcopy, then some kind soul would need to scan and then upload the file and then post it here..

Kudos to A1TM, Pitstop and my-kart for another fantastic event and for all the ‘behind the scenes’ effort that goes into making these events such a success… as Edwyn mentioned somewhere, it was a welcome break to just ‘arrive and drive’ for once 😉
Oh yeah, before I forget, please can someone polish up the #1 spot on the podium in time for next years race because me and my team mates will obviously be there… heheheheheheh 😛 😛

I certainly don’t have the time do so as I am leaving the country this weekend. Will bring along the sheet with me if there’s any vacant space in my baggage, in case I can spare out some time for you.
Meanwhile do anyone know how to get it done without having to type it out 1 by 1, we are talking about 20 teams doing 70 over laps…it takes quite a moment to type. Or is there any taker to do the job?

Ya that’s what I have in mind but the problem is “good scanner”. Since I wouldn’t be around for the next few months, I might pass it to Fazz or Brandon before I depart. Those who have good scanner and willing to do it for us, please get it from them

umm… sorry for the late reply. am offline at the moment. i don’t have a scanner either. will need to check. but the best solution is always if CK can dump the data in CSV spreadsheet / text format. does anybody know if the software can do that?
