I was impressed that the 1st person to arrived at the scene was TheFazz (A round of applause to Fazz!)
Well guys, though we don not want such a thing to happen but sometime it is unavoidable as this is racing.
Anyway, the person involved was ok.

thanks yazid for the great clip. i am relieved to say that the guy (hafizal) was ok. did an x-ray check and was discharged after a few hours.
the thing on my way there, my phone dropped and i sort of paused to see what fell before turning the kart over. i saw the guy was conscious, so that was a good sign. also needed to ensure that nothing broken so had to let him remain in his “default” position until the ambulance came. the ambulance was there in good time as well. the response to red flag the race was also swift.
quick action all round.

ParticipantFolks,
The message I have advised all the time to my kids and friends is to be 200% alert to avoid wheel contact….motorsports is not a contact sport like Rugby !
Thanks Yazid, that video clip in slow motion showed the rear wheel lifting into the air, than sliding sideways and finally overturn. It looked like his rear wheel has ran over the adjacent rear which caused the lift. There is no point pointing fingers but the most important thing to remember is every driver must try their best to avoid wheel contact.
Fazz is fast……yes, his own experience has something to do with that.

agreed. karting is not a contact sport. even a slight wheel on wheel contact can easily flip a kart. what is clear from the clip is that it was a racing incident. 3 into a tight corner won’t go.
my observations:
+ 3 karts were turning into the slow corner
+ the middle one was slightly behind
+ the middle one was out of visibility as far as the front outside kart is concerned
+ the front outside kart turned in tighter than expected and forced the middle kart into a contact
+ the wheel to wheel contact caused the flipas i have said before, first lap action is always nail biting stuff. every start i get nervous that nothing bad happens. my own experience – first corner, first lap, first race – was not one i’d like anyone to go through.
in my incident, nobody came to my rescue and i had to turn the kart upright myself. the race was not stopped, and i was even thinking of wanting to continue. only then i realised something was not right with my shoulder…

ParticipantI am not sure bro. Let me check. I remebered that I took only the Final A and 1st Qualifying from each classes but who knows if I made mistake it may well be recorded. Semalam was a tiring day for me, took Ikhwan to Sepang and wow it was like a Race Day. So many teams were they trying out. You should have been there. Swisshutless team was like a benchmark, As the team went out some of the others went out too. Thanks for encouragement and guidance that he received from both you & tarmizi. Ray was happy with his performance yesterday as he can now pair with Hasif very well as a team.
Anyway….
The K2 Qualifying 1 Group A
Few more coming… but not today. Have to be up north until Wed. That few more videos are yet to be downloaded to my PC at home. Patient…

aiyohhh… rubbing it in i see…!!!
bro… i can give you a lap-by-lap, blow-by-blow account… how i led from the 1st corner up to lap 7, how she reeled me in lap after lap, how i lost 2 positions in a single corner (grrr!!!), right up to the mad dash for the finish line when i lost 2nd place by a wheel…!!! double grrr!!!
of course having to pick from the last 2 available karts meant i was already going into the race on my back foot, so i was half-expecting the whole grid to fly past & gobble me up by the end of the 1st lap, or by lap 2 at the most, so in managing to stay out in front that long was already satisfying, understeering kart and all… but whatever said and done, full credit to norhafizah… she drove a brilliant & calculated race to take a fully-deserved win… bravo!!!7 March 2007 at 11:42 am #4341TheFazz
Membered. such graciousness in defeat. what a gentleman. bravo to both.
