credits and recognitions to my-kart volunteers

my-kart has been organising amateur karting events since 2001. this was even before the name my-kart existed, but the spirit of accessible and affordable karting in a safe, fun, competitive and professional environment was there already.

my-kart has been organising amateur karting events since 2001. this was even before the name my-kart existed, but the spirit of accessible and affordable karting in a safe, fun, competitive and professional environment was there already.

much of my-kart’s success has been largely down to a lot of volunteer work. we mean A LOT. most of the volunteers help out only because they have the passion for the sport and serving others – to give the opportunity to others to experience competitive racing.

these unsung heroes are the life blood of my-kart. therefore, i am starting a thread to recognise these hardworking, passionate people who have made my-kart what it is in 2009 and onwards.

i will update this main post with the nominations and recognition from all of you. so do keep posting on this thread to appreciate our my-kart volunteers. feel free to echo recognition to certain individuals if you feel them worthy. keep it open, flowing and honest.

my-KART 2010 Season Reports

2010 will be the 8th season for my-KART’s amateur karters race series. The 2010 season builds on the 2009 season with the new K2 exclusive DRIVERS series.

Expect a revamp of the 2010 K2 series in particular as my-kart aims to bring more relevance into K2. Implementation of ballasts will continue for K2 as it has for K1. Possible improvements are kart rotation for K2 to address issues of “bad karts”. As ever, competition is expected to be tougher and tougher as drivers gain more experience in the series.

This book will capture and collect the various reports from the 2010 my-KART season including the DRIVERS 2010 series races, the my-KART TEAMS series, any once off Endurance events and others.

The DRIVERS series will be a 10 race season that pits driver against driver for 10 challenging rounds. The TEAMS series will be a series based on team work and strategy.

Introduction

It is hoped that this book will be a easy reference for my-KART members to view the race results, reports and some photos.

The chapters in this book is split by the DRIVERS K1, K2 & K3 series and my-KART TEAMS and ENDURO chapters.

Please do give me your feedback which will go a long way towards improving the service to my-KART members further.

Cheers

TeleVAS White Wins the 2009 my-Kart Mega Mad 8 Hours Endurance

Congratulations to Team TeleVAS White for winning the 2009 my-Kart Mega Mad Endurance 8 Hours Endurance.

20 December 2009

Congratulations to Team TeleVAS White for winning the 2009 my-Kart Mega Mad Endurance 8 Hours Endurance.

Thank you to all 14 teams that came to the race and have shown great team work and sportmanship too. It has been a great year for some of the drivers, whom also race the my-Kart Driver Series too. This year 8 Hours Endurance was a promise that I have fulfilled for the drivers that attended the 6 Hours Endurance in 2008. Thank you again for making this happen~ And I hope you like the T-Shirt. I personally design it.

The race started with a very cloudy morning and every team was already expecting the race to be wet. It is just the matter of time when the rain will come. As the race reached the one hour mark, the rain came. It was a hard decision for the committee to stop the race or to continue. As the rain got heavier, the committee decided to stop the race. 15 minutes later, a restart of the race under wet condition. Remember it’s only wet condition. The race lasted for another one hour when the second rainfall came. This time, it pours~!! And when we restarted the race, everyone was racing under flooding condition~! It is even worst than being in the wet condition. Lots of karts stalled in the middle of the track and some went on safely. From the second restart, there was no more turning back and all team went flat out till the end of the race.

It was a very close battle between the 1st and 2nd placing team (TeleVAS White and Alien Predator). These 2 teams exchange places for numerous time on the track until TeleVAS White has a better chance at the end and took the chequered flag. There was zero casualty, which I am very happy about it. But there was an incident whereby a tire came off for Team Kegani Kookaburra Ultra Racing (The longest team name in my-kart history). I have made a follow-up on this issue on Sunday at City Karting. I have been told that * I do not know how to declare the parts so I will explain it – (the 2 out of 3 of the screws that attached to the axel, which holds the rim has broke). And that is the reason why the tire came off. Even with all these little problems, I am happy that no one was left behind and all 14 teams made it to the chequered flag. Congratulations to all teams~!

I would like to say thank you to all our sponsors:
1) City Karting for providing the track, the food, the trophies and medals, and their services for so many years.
2) John King Karting for sponsoring the race suits, gloves and the balaclavas.
3) Lotus Car Malaysia for sponsoring the winners of the endurance a seat for the next Lotus Driving Experience outing. Also thank you to Mr. Edward Tan for his time.
4) Fuchs for sponsoring the Titan Racing Engine Oil.

Lastly, I honestly admitted that there was one or two incident which it slipped my mind to remind the team on certain issues. Do forgive me for those little mistakes. I hope everyone had great fun this year and I shall see all of you again, maybe even more people next year~! Check for 2010 my-Kart Are You Mad Endurance the coming March~! See you all again~!
