Changes for 2011 agreed with CityKarting

Dear friends

The my-kart committee members (Edwyn, Mark, Naza, Mizi and Fazz) met with Citykarting Enterprises Sdn Bhd (Ah Piau) on the 19th December 2010 to discuss changes for 2011.

Citykarting had recently agreed to the changes on Sunday 26th December 2010.

The following were some points of discussion and agreements:

Dear friends

The my-kart committee members (Edwyn, Mark, Naza, Mizi and Fazz) met with Citykarting Enterprises Sdn Bhd (Ah Piau) on the 19th December 2010 to discuss changes for 2011.

Citykarting had recently agreed to the changes on Sunday 26th December 2010.

The following were some points of discussion and agreements:

  1. my-kart DRIVERS series 2011 – K1 category

    1. CK will prepare 15 karts for the now combined K1 category (K2 is abolished). All drivers will get Rotax Junior 125cc on CRG rebels chassis with Maxxis tyres.
    2. CK will prepare additional karts if there is demand, but CK must be given at least ONE week’s notice.
    3. The 15 karts would constitute 30 seats.
    4. The 15 karts would include spares – up to my-kart to determine how many spares are needed.
  2. my-kart DRIVERS series 2011 – K1 pricing

    1. K1 entry is only applicable to paid my-kart club members
    2. We agreed that prices for the K1 series will remain as per current 2010 levels – which is RM230 per driver per event.
    3. However, CK is offering drivers to pay RM2,000 up front for 10 races in 2011 – which amounts to RM200 per driver per event.
    4. Transfer of the paid seats is up to my-kart and the participants involved.
    5. CK will further offer RM1,800 up front for 10 races for each driver if my-kart “purchases” all the 30 seats up front. This point is yet unclear upon subsequent reflection, as the 30 seats representing 15 karts includes spare karts. Ah Piau suggested that my-kart provide an offer on this for him to consider. The committee may need to evaluate how many seats will be “purchased” up front.
    6. Once the seats are purchased, my-kart can then “on sell” the seats to other participants at either the standard walk in rate of RM230 or RM2,000 for full year participants. But in this case, my-kart carries the risk of unsold seats.
  3. K3 DRIVERS series 2011 pricing

    1. K3 pricing will remain at RM90 per driver (paid my-kart members only – non members remain at RM100 per driver) per event.
    2. However, CK is also offering a similar up front pricing arrangement for drivers who commit to 10 races in advance. Drivers will need to pay RM800 for the 10 race up front commitment.
  4. DRIVERS series venues

    1. AP advised us that CK will likely be operating the Sepang Kart Circuit from 1 April 2011. SIC had agreed to this and CK had even paid the deposit, and ordered the additional 20 units 4-stroke rental karts for Sepang Kart Circuit.
    2. my-kart can propose to have some races run at Shah Alam and some at Sepang. Initial proposal is for 6 DRIVERS series races at Shah Alam and 4 DRIVERS series races at Sepang and 1 Grand Finale race in Sepang.
    3. To save transport costs, we agreed to have only ONE switch over from Shah Alam to Sepang after the 6th round. Hence, transportation is limited to RM300 one way from Shah Alam to Sepang and RM300 return after the final race of 2011.
    4. The transport costs will need to be incurred for the 15 K1 karts.
    5. For the K3 category, drivers will use the new 4-stroke karts in Sepang.
    6. If my-kart wishes to bring the 80cc karts to Sepang, this will incur additional transport costs (not quoted).
    7. If K3 is run on the 4-stroke karts, the pricing will remain the same as the 80cc 2-stroke karts.
  5. LANGKAWI once off race

    1. CK has a strong desire to run my-kart events at Langkawi.
    2. Dates have yet to be determined.
    3. my-kart will propose date and further details.
  6. Free days for kids on weekdays during school holidays

    1. AP offered my-kart to scheduled certain days exclusively for school children during school holidays (but only on weekdays and not on public holidays).
    2. CK will not charge for the event if my-kart can organise for a large group of school children.
    3. my-kart will consider the offer, and propose.

DRIVERS series (K3) rules and formats – 2011

1.0 OBJECTIVES

1.0 OBJECTIVES

The my-KART events aim to popularise grassroots motorsports, particularly karting by making participation in regular karting events accessible and affordable for its members. my-KART realises that there are a significant number of casual and semi-serious karting enthusiasts who would like to have the opportunity to participate in affordable racing events. In doing so, my-KART emphasises safety and fun above all. my-KART also aims at developing the amateur karting community, and thus the group and events will be conducted in a friendly atmosphere.

Given that my-KART events are conducted using primarily rental karts, it is likely that kart performances will vary significantly. The event format that is described below intends to minimise the “luck of the draw” as best possible. my-KART events are also aimed at balancing the skill levels and the kart performance as far as possible.

The purpose of this document is to set out the event formats and rules which meet the above objectives.

2.0 OVERVIEW OF RACE

Typically, the race is split into two segments for each driver and category:
(i) 2 qualifying races – points collected to determine order for choosing karts in final. The qualifying heats are conducted as individual races, and points are scored based on the drivers finishing positions in the qualifying races. By doing so, we do not need to depend on timing systems which can often be unreliable, and this will allow more excitement for participants.

(ii) 1 final – points will score towards the league table. Each driver will participate in one final each, but their groupings will be dependent on how well they scored in the combined qualifying races.

3.0 RACE LENGTH

Each heat and final will run for 8 laps.

4.0 DRIVER CATEGORIES AND EVENT GROUPINGS

The K3 category will be split into two weight categories:

  1. K3-45 – for drivers above the 45 kg weight up to less than 70kg
  2. K3-70 – for drivers 70kg and above in weight

For the event groupings, the total number of drivers are sorted in seed order. The drivers will be divided into groups of similar numbers. The number of drivers per group depends on the number of reasonably good karts. Consecutive seeded drivers will be split into different groups. Eg, seed 1 in group A, seed 2 in group B and so on.

5.0 QUALIFYING RACE FORMAT FOR EACH CATEGORY

(i) For the 1st qualifying races, karts are assigned to each grid position. For example, kart number 1 may be assigned to grid number 1 and so on. Drivers will be assigned the grid positions based on their seeding order; ie highest seeded drivers start first. In the event of unseeded drivers, the order will be in favour of first registered driver.

(ii) For the 2nd qualifying races, drivers will start in the reverse grid order of the first qualifying. The karts assigned to each grid will remain in the same positions. For example, the driver that started on pole in the first qualifying heat will swap grid position and kart with the driver who started last in the previous heat, and so on.

(iii) change of karts: karts will only be changed if the organisers decide that it is either too slow / damaged / dangerous / too fast in comparison with the rest, or if certain drivers cannot fit into certain karts, or if a driver has driven the same kart in the previous qualifying race (applicable only during the qualifying segment).

Points will be score for each qualifying heat based on finishing positions, and accumulated to determine who gets the first choice of karts for the final. Even drivers who did not finish the qualifying race will still score points based on the ultimate classified position.

6.0 FINAL FORMAT FOR EACH CATEGORY

Each driver will drive in only one final, although there may be more than one final. The points scored in the qualifying heats will determine which final the driver falls into. If there are odd number of drivers, then the final for top drivers will be more then the lower finals.

The top scoring drivers in qualifying will have first choice to the karts for the final. This will allow the driver who performed best in the qualifying heats the chance to choose the best available karts, and thus eliminate the “luck” factor in their final race. In a tie breaker, the driver with the higher seeding will choose first. If there is still a tie, the driver registered online first will have prior choice.

The starting order for the finals will be in reverse qualifying order (ie, the highest scoring driver in qualifying will start last in the finals – but have the benefit of the better kart). This will further allow drivers who may have had bad karts in the qualifying heats to have another chance to improve on their position for the DRIVERS championship.

A driver who DNFs (must return to pits on own power) will not score points even if they are in the top final runners. The next drivers in the lower final groups will benefit from the extra position gained from the DNF driver’s demise.

There are 15 points scoring positions for the league table. Only the top 15 drivers in the finals share score points.

In the championship table, all 10 scores will count towards the final drivers’ championship.

7.0 DRIVER WEIGHTS AND THE WEIGHT CATEGORY

Drivers within a category finals would be further sub-ranked within their weight categories. There will be two weight categories for 2011 – which is 70kg minimum and 45kg minimum. Weights are based on drivers own declaration and includes racing gear – from time to time, the my-KART organisers may test the driver weights, and should the drivers weigh less than the minimum limit, then they shall lose all the points scored up to that point, and shall be placed in the more appropriate weight category.

8.0 FEE & PRICING

The pricing for the K3 class will be set by the organisers and is subject to change due to market forces and with minimal notice. Currently the fees for a full K3 event is as follows:

  • K3 (80cc) = RM100 per driver per event

Fees are paid in full upon registration. Only cash is excepted. The fees will not be refunded if the driver does not complete the full event.

ARBITRATION

The my-KART event organisers has the final say.

2011 Once off races

On occassion, my-KART may organise once off events to cater for specific needs or circumstances.

DRIVERS K1/K2 Rules & Regulations

1.0 OBJECTIVES

DRIVERS K1/K2 Rules & Regulations

1.0 OBJECTIVES
The my-KART events aim to popularise grassroots motorsports, particularly karting by making participation in regular karting events accessible and affordable for its members. my-KART realises that there are a significant number of casual and semi-serious karting enthusiasts who would like to have the opportunity to participate in affordable racing events. In doing so, my-KART emphasises safety and fun above all. my-KART also aims at developing the amateur karting community, and thus the group and events will be conducted in a friendly atmosphere.

The K1 series aims to provide the opportunity for my-KART members to get one step closer to competitive kart racing. There will be 125cc race karts dedicated to the club for this series. As such, participation in this series will be selective and limited to ensure only drivers with the right skill level, experience and behaviour are included at this level.

The purpose of this document is to set out the event formats and rules which meet the above objectives.

1.1 DRIVER AND KART ALLOCATION
The K1 series will be limited to available karts prepared by the Operators. For the 2011 season, the Operator will prepare 15 karts, equaling 30 available seats. However, my-kart may set aside a few karts as spares. Any additional demand for kart seats will need to be notified to the Operator at least ONE week in advance of the race event.

Driver allocation to karts will be based on the closest physical fit between the 2 drivers, based on weight and height.

1.2 WEIGHT/BALLAST
The minimum total weight for the driver will be 72 kg for K1 at all times. Should the weight of driver fall below this minimum threshold, ballasts shall be added to meet the minimum weight. It is the driver’s sole responsibility to ensure that the minimum weight requirement is at all times met (before and after race). A driver will be disqualified (DQ) if this rule is breached.

1.3 TRANSPONDER
Transponders will be use for timing management. It will be the driver’s responsibility to inform Race Director or the Time Marshall in the event there is a change of kart.

2.0 OVERVIEW OF RACE
Typically, the race is split into two segments for each driver and category:
(i) 2 qualifying races – Race 1 starting grid will be based on current my-kart race seedings. Race 2 starting grid will be based on the reverse order of Race 1’s starting grid. Points will be awarded and accumulated from Race 1 and 2.

(ii) 1 final – points will score towards the league table. Each driver will participate in one final each, but their groupings will be dependent on the total points accumulated from the 2 qualifying heats. Starting grid for the final will depend on he points accumulated during the qualifying races.

(iii) In the case where two drivers sharing the same kart, end up in the same final group, then the driver with the higher total points will take the assigned kart. The driver with the lower total points, will need to select another available kart.

3.0 RACE LENGTH
Each heat and final will run for 8 laps.

4.0 DRIVER CATEGORIES AND EVENT GROUPINGS
There will be no weight based driver categories within K1.

5.0 QUALIFYING RACE FORMAT FOR EACH CATEGORY
(i) For the 1st qualifying races, karts and drivers will be assigned to each grid position based on current my-kart seedings.

(ii) For the 2nd qualifying races, karts and drivers will be assigned to each grid position based on the reverse order of Race 1’s starting grid.

(iii) change of karts: There will not be any kart changes in the K1 series. Karts that are damaged due to racing incidents will be pulled out of the event and fixed. There is no guarantee that the the damaged kart will be ready for the next race. Spare karts will be use only when it is damaged due to reasons not caused by the driver such as engine seizure, brake failure, etc.

All positions in qualifying will be eligible for points even though the driver may not have finished the race through retirement or disqualification.

6.0 FINAL FORMAT FOR EACH CATEGORY
Each driver will drive in only one final, although there may be more than one final. The most number of points scored over the 2 qualifying races will determine which final the driver falls into.

If two drivers who share the same kart, fall into the same final grouping, then the driver with the higher number of points in qualifying will use the assigned kart. The second driver will need to select another available kart for the final race.

The starting order for the finals will be in order of the total points scored, with the highest score at pole position.

This is different from the previous year’s practice of 8 scores out of 10.

7.0 FEE & PRICING
The pricing for the K1 series will be set by the organisers and is subject to change due to market forces and with minimal notice. Currently the fees for the series are as follows

Security Deposit of RM600 per K1 driver is payable in full prior to each race, and must be maintained at RM600 throughout the season. Any costs arising from loss or damage to karts will be deducted from this deposit amount.

K1 Event fee = RM 230 per driver per event or for drivers paying for the full year, RM2000 for 10 races payable before the first race of 2011.

Fees are paid in full upon registration. Only cash is accepted. The fees will not be refunded if the driver does not complete the full event.

8.0 ARBITRATION
