    1. Another Chicken Wing
Cant really stay away and lay low 😛

I missed the Langkawi Cup, so this is like a mini replacement for my thirst for good fun karting.

I met some baby buayas as I got to the track, takut already! huhu

All in, it was a good chicken wings session for me.. less pressure to win anything. It was sort of a reminder of my experience in K3–you never know what kind of kart you will end up with, and you really cant keep your hopes up high.

For timed practice, I got into kart 18..since everybody else “booked” their karts earlier. With high hopes, I just set the tyre pressures. The kart was oversteering. I guess I had my rears up too high. Fortunately, I got 2nd with a time of 1:02+ . The first was the kart I used last season! 😛

Pre Finals was interesting. I was battling with Nicholas who was using kart 21 (very fast), Choong, and new comer, Nurazmi. Kart 18 had a really bad bottom end. I was advised by the mechanic not to floor the accelerator. Nothing could be done to improve the bottom end at that time. In lap 3 or so, Choong and Nicholas was side by side going into the corner in front of the pits when they touched and crashed. Choong went into the tyre barrier, while Niocholas survived with a bad spin.

I took the lead thinking I had it in the bags. Kart 18 was not so helpful, though. 2 laps to the end, Nicholas managed to catch up and we battled for a while. But having no bottom end, I lose out coming out of corner after a good defense. Finished 2nd again.

I was not pleased with the pre finals, being easily overtaken coming out of corners. So I gambled to change to kart 16 for the finals. I was told Eugene had used it last season 😉

Poor me, as I come out of the pits, i found out I have no brakes. i was thinking of going back to the previous kart, but the transponder had already changed. I had no choice but to gamble on an unused kart.

As I leave the pits, I am already conceeding defeat. Plug sputtering, carburator taking time to stabilize, moments of emptiness.. and the group were already doing 2nd warm up lap.

the performance improved a bit as i fall into formation. but into turn one, im already down. For the rest of the final, I was battling with rookie Nurazmi. It was quite fun n interesting..had to use all the experience on a not-so-fast kart. classic inside outside overtaking at the corners. He took the lead in the penultimate lap and i was taking care of my lines as best as i could to presure him into a mistake. he kept his cool until the final lap. i was too far back to get a good run.. only managed to close within 0.8secs, and thats how it ended.

Fortunate for us, nicholas was classified as DNF because he came into the pits before the chequered flag. typical rookie mistake 😛

It was an okay outing for me. Brought something back to show the kids.. Its nice to feel victory as its getting harder to come by in the new K2 series!

So, let’s see how it goes in two wks time. Hope my partner sorted out the moments of emptiness 😉
