Let’s discuss the requirement of Ironman challenge here
Date :16th February 2008
Time :1000 hours to 1200 hours (morning)
Location: City Karting, Shah Alam
Format
======
-2 drivers per team
-Total event time of 120 minutes
-10 minutes free-run qualifying, no restriction of number of drivers change
-110 minutes endurance race
-80cc 2 stroker
-Clockwise direction
Registration fees
=================
-RM600 per team
-RM40 subsidize by MY-KART Kelab Selangor
-Registered member entitle RM10 subsidize by MY-Kart
Prizes

Trophies for top 3 places winning team
Medals for all participants
RequirementS
============
-2 drivers to a team
-minimum required per team total weight is 140kg (70kg per driver).
-There shall be no exception for a female driver in the team or
a team of all female drivers.
– Total weight divide by 2 with average no less than 70
-When Team mininum weight requirement is not met, weight ballast will be added.
note : every 1kg added to kart is equivalent to 1kg x 2drivers giving total of 2kg.
Formula will be: total weight / 2 = average weight + ballast weight >= 70
Example:
weight 128 / 2 = 64kg :. therefore 6kg/2drivers = total of weight needed is 3
All team drivers will weigh-in with gears during morning registration. Weight ballast will be decided and add on before free run qualifying session.
Grid position will be based on fastest qualifying time accordingly.
10 minutes free run qualifying
==============================
Free run qualifying. No restriction of drivers change.Kart preparation and adjustment including kart change are allowed at this time frame.
The race
===============
-110 minutes race.
-No pit stop windows. All teams are allowed to pit at anytime during racing.
-the team will be officially disqualified if one(1) of the drivers clocked less than 35 minutes of total time, unless due to emergency or special incident.
-Any team has more than one (1) member not participating after qualifying will automatically be classified as Did Not Race (DNR).
-Any team has more than one (1) member not participating during the race will automatically classified as Did Not Finish (DNF).
-Any driver drives more than 1 session without valid reason, the team will be disqualified. Team members will be held responsible for reporting any not participating team members to race admin before or during the rece.
-in the event of a kart failure, driver will have to get spare kart back at pit/control, subject to spare kart availability. 1 Lap penalty will be imposed kart change.
-loss of transponder due to accident, the team will be officially disqualified as no lap time taken
-Petrol refuel is allowed at any pitstop
NOTE: The team and its drivers will be entirely responsible to settle all damages or loss of transponders directly with the Track Operator. My-kart and the organiser will not be liable for any damages arising out of racing incidents deliberately or otherwise.
Special highlights
==================
1. Yes the team is allowed to demand for kart change BEFORE the race starts due to fitting, sizing of kart.
2. Yes the teamis allowed to demand kart change AFTER qualified only with solid reason. Example, kart with bent axel. Other than that the team will be imposed 1 lap penalty over a kart change without solid reason.
3. Yes the team is allowed to demand kart change during the race with 1 lap penalty will be imposed to the team
4. Final adjust after qualified is allowed such tire pressure check, adjusting on brake level, tightening throttle cable and etc. The team is allowed to have assistance of CK mechanics for fine tuning engine performace if needed. Note that is always performance vs durability issue.
5. lubricant on chain will not last for 2 hours is the team responsibility to get lubricated the least 25 minutes. The team may pit-in for such activity at anytime during the race. Is all strategy play.

Firstly Happy CNY to you.
You can register your interest in this thread here. Simply add your name to the list. If you have a partner give yourself a team name, add both drivers names and estimated weights of drivers.
If you don’t have a partner, you can simply add your name as driver 1 and wait for someone to join your team or you may wish to contact any driver who is already listed but does not yet have a partner – you can contact them directly using a Private Message on this site.
Once done, just turn up bright and early on the day with the race fees and have fun!

1. Yes the team is allowed to demand for kart change BEFORE the race starts due to fitting, sizing of kart.
2. Yes the teamis allowed to demand kart change AFTER qualified only with solid reason. Example, kart with bent axel. Other than that the team will be imposed 1 lap penalty over a kart change without solid reason.
3. Yes the team is allowed to demand kart change during the race with 1 lap pernalty with be impose to the team
4. Final adjust after qualified is allowed such tire pressure check, adjusting on brake level, tightening throttle cable and etc. The team is allowed to have assistance of CK mechanics for fine tuning engine performace if needed. Note that is always performance vs durability issue.
5. lubricant on chain will not last for 2 hours is the team responsibility to get lubricated the least 25 minutes. The team may pit-in for such activity at anytime during the race. Is all strategy play.

As the event draws near, after few frenly discusssions, taking into consideration the amount of money and time to be spent on one kart, kart performance and reliability, may I suggest that CK allocate “special” 80cc karts for this event? Can we get CK to choose their best 80cc karts, “refurbish” them, tune them, and make them ready for our event, this one in particular?
May I also request that the time for qualifying (and tuning) be extended a bit to ensure that the drivers will have enough time to get the karts as close as possible to par?
I think that these are worth considering due the fact that we want to have this endurance more to competing our stamina, skills, and strategy and less about kart performance.
Imagine this = your team gets a kart which is 3 secs off the pace of the other karts. your team will end up with this bad kart for 2 hours (or part thereof) being lapped by all other teams during the whole session! Its not gonna be all that fun!
so hopefully we can have this considered.. please please pleaseeeeeee

Rizal, I hope that you take part regardless of the outcome. Whilst we all ‘hope and wish’ the karts will be in A1 condition and perform equally, don’t lose sight of the spirit of participation in an organised fun, safe and affordable racing event. Naturally we would all want to compete on a level playing field and I am sure the my-kart committee will do their utmost to negotaite with CK to achieve this, but please don’t make this your deciding factor mate… we want to race alongside you (or behind you) for the fun of the event and winning is secondary to all of that… 😉

Talked to CK last Sunday with Edwyn in tow. It is agreed that we will test and select the karts on Friday 15th. So, we will have a chance to minimise the variance in kart performance with our final selection on that day.

A thoroughly enjoyable race
A thoroughly enjoyable race with excitement and pressure from beginning to end.
For the first 15-20 minutes prior to the first pit stop, 5 of us (Zul, Patrick, Razak, Faiz and myself) were in a close bumper to bumper battle where no one was giving an inch to the other – a real hardcore battle. Things changed a bit after the pit stop and I wasted a bit too much time there, mainly due to my eagerness and overshooting the pit holding area!
Upon re-entry to the track Faiz, Razak and myself were again engaged in our dog fight. Zul and Patrick were in there own! It was again a bumper to bumper battle with numerous overtaking tactics, repositioning and constant pressure. The last pit window for me was a bit faster and I managed to enter the track ahead of Faiz and Razak but by the first corner… alas the 3 way battle commenced yet again.
In the final 7-10? laps things changed a bit. Razak managed to get past Faiz and start to break away from the pack leaving Faiz and myself to battle it out. Luckily for me Faiz made a mistake after the last hairpin before the straight and entered the corner too wide and too fast allowing me a sneaky inside entry and quick exit to the long straight and I too started to pull away determined to catch up with Razak… but as hard as I tried I just couldn’t catch him and crossed the flag with a happy 5th place…
Key Features of the Race
1. Accident free and superb driving ethics.
2. Non stop laughter whilst driving in the 3 way battles.
3. Well balanced and even distribution of karts on the whole
4. Exhaustion and aches at the end of race!
5. Learning the importance of being both physically fit and mentally alert. It was probably more mentally tiring than it was physically challenging!
Finally, I just want to say huge thanks very to my-kart and the organising committee for putting this event together and I can’t wait for the next one! My condolences to the team (Luen, Fazz and Naza) who sacrificed participation to manage the event… thanks guys!

1. mechanical inspection (axle, cabling, joins, bolts and nuts, etc)
2. chnage spark plugs (+fluids?)
3. We need at least 3 pair teams (test driver + time keeper)
4. one or two laps for carburation tuning (low, mid, top end)
5. 3-5 laps for lap timing
6. hopefully selected karts will be within +- 1 sec (fastest kart is <2 sec faster than the slowest kart)
7. Let's try to have at least 50% spare karts? (wow!)
May I suggest that we do items 1 and 2 during daylight (5pm - 7pm). We can do the running in the early evening. I can only reach there by 8pm. So, you guys proceed la 😉

So sory guys but i dont think i will be able to make it either seems i may have been hit with some bug i couldn’t even get out of bed this morning to go to school even though i slept at 6pm the previous night. Then today i went to ELITE and after just 10 mins i was ready to puke. Hopefully will be at nxt chicken wings. Have fun, may the best team win :up:

You know what?…as I watched these guys and one gal battling it out with each other, it dawned on me quite suddenly that it is [b]CHICKEN WINGS IN PROGRESS[/b]!…only difference was the addition of lube chain pit stops. Thats what happened, fierce, fun and safe!….and this was the part that Fazz, Luen and I were jealous about. Anyway, congrats to all winners!
