    dear all,

Steward, Jules, Jason and I met with Uncle Ng after the round 6 event. We discussed about (i) the 80cc price increases; and (ii) future collaboration between myKART and Citykarting towards the myKART vision.

I must say that the meeting went well. For now, we shall have no price increases until the end of the year. Having said that, we need to recognise that Citykarting has invested quite a bit on new kart engines. So in reality Citykarting would need to recover some of their investment costs through the events.

We explained the myKART vision and the aim of building the sport from the ground up. I believe this was understood by all, and as a gesture of goodwill, Citykarting will “subsidise” the kart rentals for the remainder of 2005. We will be able to use the newer karts (which is only reserved for special events like ours). We shall agree to an increase for 2006.

As a business segment, the pie in relation to karting is fairly small, and seemingly getting smaller. The danger I see is if we fail to generate more interest and enthusiasm, the sport will become an even more elitist hobby – and will never reach the mainstream.

myKART’s challenge now is to grow this pie. Let’s all be part of this growth!

    Cheers

Actually I had more fun with the old karts yesterday but I do agree the new karts have better chassis but can’t say much about the engine though.
To justify the higher price, hopefully they provide better grade tyres unlike the very hard compound tyres which they have it on now which is good for drift karting or endurance or the heavy 4 stroke fun kart.

Yeah, I hope the price increase is not too drastic as I am hoping that my son will be tall enough to join in by next year which means that the cost to my wallet will become very heavy.
