Drift Kart?

First vid is shifter karts on a low grip track. Enough power and gears make it easy to drift. Looks like the 2nd vid has steel belts around the rear tyres for extremely low grip.

If you put extra hard rental kart tyres on the rear of say a Rotax powered kart and keep racing tyres on the front you’ll have quite a capable drift kart.

Because of a locked rear axle you need very little grip or lots of power for sustained drifting.

But why in the world would you want to drift a kart? I sometimes throw the kart sideways for fun for a few corners on an in-lap after a race or just at the end of a practice day.. but driving karts as fast as you can is a lot more fun ;).

yeah i personally love track racing but i only tried gokart for a few times.
i asking this actually for my sch project
we wan to mod a gokart which is really easy and suitable for anyone to try the fun of drifting,
as ppl play gokart for the fun of track racing wif lower cost and scale,
so our idea is make it for drift purpose.

our plan is using a motorcycle 150cc 2stroke engine of coz wif gear,to get more torque during all speed.
then wif old hard rental kart tire at the back
but we hv problem getting 2nd hand tire as all the gokart boss donwan to sell their old tire, instead they offer new tire package to us.

the 2nd video wif sumthing stick on rear tire seems very easy to drift but i think not really fun to drift at tat speed.
i saw another indoor gokart track video where they can pour water thru out the track, then a normal gokart can drift around
so nw i thinking making a water injector on both rear wheel, make the rear tire wet then it shud can drift easily right?
then the front tire remain dry so the gokart is still easily controlable i assume..

any suggestion or better idea? 😀
