MemberFlame on! 3 drivers fight down to the wire! Hamilton’s gravelly demise extends hope to the other two championship contenders Alonso and Räikkönen.

10|David Coulthard|British|Red Bull-Renault|14]Great drive by Kimi to clinch his 5th win, making him the winningest driver for 2007 so far. Kimi is looking strong of late. Alonso’s second place keeps him in the hunt, although he must be thinking how much more he has to pull something out of the bag.
Vettel’s 4th place is an awesome achievement for the Toro Rosso boys. Luizzi makes it into the points as well. BMW seemed to have a difficult time with Kubica out of the race, and Heidfeld pushing to the end to pass Luizzi but without success.
Roll on the Brazilian GP in 2 weeks’ time!

{I’d love to see Kimi win it, but the odds are stacked against him. Hami needs to finish with less than 3 pts(6th or lower) and Fonso, less than 7pts (3rd or lower) AND Kimi has to win it. Massa could probably slot intor 2nd, but who’s gonna make Hami finish out of the top 6?
BMW? They’ve already said they’ve stopped developments, so they’re going backwards. Renault? They don’t seem to have solved their problems and would most probably have stopped developments. Maybe the Red Bull stables, but the senior team has had the worst reliability this year(i think :D) and the junior team have been pretty much rookies.
So only way, Hami to DNF, then there’s a chance for Kimi.
With that said, I’m still a diehard Ferrari fan n will be cheering Kimi on for the WDC, but my brain tells me, it’s not gonna happen.}

ParticipantFerrari should and probably will come in 1-2, but WDC depends on where:
1) Hami finishes &
2) Alonso finishes……Not in Kimi’s hands….. Hami’s gotta loose the championship, but seeing how he’s driven(barring any malfunction or accidents) so far this year, he’s home free. Just drive to keep it on track, he doesn’t needs to chase the top 3…..

Wurz announces retirement from Formula One competitionWilliams driver Alexander Wurz has confirmed that he is to retire from Formula One racing with immediate effect. The team will announce his replacement for the season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix on Tuesday.
Wurz made his Formula One debut in 1997 with Benetton in Canada, since which time he has driven for McLaren and most recently Williams, as test driver in 2006 before taking on a race seat for the 2007 season.
“I would today like to announce my retirement from active racing in Formula One,” said the 33-year-old Austrian, who has recently become a father for the third time. “I would like to thank my family and fans, everyone at AT&T Williams and my previous teams, as well as the media, for all of their support during my Formula One racing career.”
In ten seasons, Wurz has made 69 Grand Prix starts, with his most recent visit to the podium coming earlier this year in Canada. He has scored 13 points in 2007, but has struggled to match team mate Nico Rosberg, particularly in qualifying.
“In such a hard fought environment as Formula One, I have always maintained that if you have a moment’s doubt about what you are doing, then it is time to stop,” continued Wurz. “Privately I began to have these thoughts earlier this year and so have decided that now is the time to make my announcement.
“Racing this season has been a real pleasure, especially securing the podium in Canada which was pretty sweet along with a number of other strong races, but now it is time to call it a day. I’d like to thank the team for accepting my decision and I wish them all the best for the last race of the year.”
He concluded: “I look forward to my future and perhaps the opportunity to pass on my knowledge and skills in Formula One and I have some discussions underway. I may also race again, perhaps in Le Mans or other categories and certainly some of my time will now be committed to the very important subject of road safety.”
In response to Wurz’s announcement, team principal, Frank Williams said: “Alex has made an invaluable contribution to the team for the past two years, first as one of the best test and development drivers the team has ever worked with, and more recently as a race driver.
“This season Alex has had some very strong drives in difficult circumstances and we would like to thank him for all he has contributed. Alex is well known, immensely popular and widely regarded as one of Formula One’s gentlemen. I am sure I speak for everyone in the paddock when I wish Alex and his family the very best for the future.”
Hmm… another rookie driver? Jazeman? 😛

ParticipantAlonso to join Renault in 2008
Friday October 12, 2007
BERLIN, (AFP) – The double Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso will leave McLaren-Mercedes and return to Renault next year, the German newspaper Bild will report in its Friday edition.Alonso has signed a contract for three years from 2008 with Renault where he won his two world championships before moving to McLaren-Mercedes in 2007. However, in last few months, Alonso’s relations have deteriorated badly with the McLaren team of Ron Dennis and in particular with British team mate Lewis Hamilton.
Alonso finished second in Sunday’s Chinese Grand Prix and is now just four points behind the championship leader, Hamilton, heading into the final race of the season in Brazil. 🙂
Looks like 2008 gonna be more interesting ey.. 😉

Wonder who will be replacing Alonso then? Is it really the rookie from GP2? But then.. will the same problem occur, Mclaren giving more support to Hamilton to the new guy?
