ParticipantAfter some thought, I do support this development and think that the benefits outweigh the risks to Malaysiai, because:
– it raises the profile of motorsports in this region, hence interests in the sport, especially among our rich southern neighbours, which may spillover into our Southern states, ie more Sinjaporeans are into racing, hence they want to get into karting, racing, etc, but where the heck would they race…voila!..what about upgrading facilities in JOhor, create tracks in Malacca, etc?…and of course more of them may start going up to Sepang.
– it “wakes Malaysia up” -> Sepang will always be kept on their toes to ensure facilities are top notch and spectators keep on coming…
..ie we suddenly have competition at our doorsteps.. – Good for us and Singaporeans as there’s more variety for us, and accessible, ie we can go down to watch the street race in Sinjapore (I certainly would….I’ve stopped going to Sepang for F1 because it’s hot and facilities are getting rundown..for now..), and vice versa for them.
– and what’s the big deal about having races in 2 adjacent countries anyway?…it’s been like that in Europe for ages??
Bottom line – we have plenty of synergistic opportunities with our Singaporean friends to make sure that Malaysia-Singapore is one of the motorsports hubs in Asia. We already have Japan with a huge motorsports culture, China coming up damn fast, because we already have motorsports hubs appearing in the Middle East (closer to Europe) and I’m pretty sure one day, India will want to build theirs up as well.
OK, I’m rambling and want to stop now. AJK Makan is VERY HUNGRY at the moment because it’s cold in London today and I can’t decide what to eat this morning…too much variety my brain jam already…..and when my makan brain jams I end up eating Chinese food…again!…oooh..dim sum… 😎

ParticipantNight race in Sepang too…I actually believe that more Malaysians will go to the race if its at night cos its so much cooooleeerr!….and those open hill slopes will see much more spectators with umbrellas on standby.
