oh man.. i miss the malaysian gp… aussie is close, but its so close that u can just hear the cars scream past, cant see anything.
hillstands are a better area to watch the race, especially the C stands and E. get to be close to the action, and also see some overtaking at the last corner. dunno about G stand though. but south grandstand is good too, provided u are facing turn 9 (hairpin) and 12-13-14 complex, good place to see how great the handling is.
Fazz, I am even more of a cheapo than you – I will only go if got free ticket!
I went to the 1st Malaysian GP (1998 or 1999) where MS was out for most of the season and let Irvine win the race. I was on the hill stand oerlooking turn 4, a sharp 90 degree right turn so the cars are quite slow and you can hear the downshift and blipping followed by the roar of the engine when the car goes uphill after the corner!
Aku lagi terok…..pergi sekali pun belum! So far did not miss any race as a potato couch glued to the STARSPORTS channel. This time, I am determine to be there …..somehow! Cheh! malu la..! (tail between the …)

its hot la, but with lots of water and sunblock, shouldnt kill u. there was one year, ’01, where south side of the circuit was raining, but north was dry, and we were at k2 hillstand, it was dry.we could see the water trails from the cars at the main straight!! best race to me,where both ferrari’s spun, pitted for intermediates, and started overtaking to finish a 1-2.
parking is a nightmare though…. unless u r lucky enough to get PA1. other than that, since hillstands(except k2) are the other end, gonna be a long queue when u come out. k2 boring la, only can see the cars accelerate.
I’ve not missed a single Malaysia GP since it’s start, and I’ve already bought this year ticket after the race last year!

Yeah! I was one of the hillstands -can’t remember, perhaps Munib & my bros could refresh me- we saw the two Ferraris slithering off the race track, and boy was I so incredibly happy!!! Yahooo!!, but then Schumi is a man who luck seems to frequently favour, and he non-chalantly tiptoed his way across the gravel and back into the bloody track!!! Booo hooo!!!
The biggest buggerring I got (and Latok, no funny ideas), was helplessly watching the Ferraris on superior intermediates scythe through the field and clinch a one two!! Bugger bugger bugger!!

bmFive – you da man!! I’ve missed the ’00 and ’04 races. On occassion, managed to get myself free tickets. Last year was waiting waiting and waiting… but alas no free tickets. This time buy atas bukit.
same deal for me this year Bro. wait for free ticket till last minute. if no luck then atas bukit it is. the year we got rained on i.e. the best race ever esp as MS kicked every1 else’s asses in the wet 😉 we were on hill stand E. last year i got grand stand ticket but 2 years back i was with TA & Aedes on hill stand C2 [it’s the one running along the southeast side from turns 9 to 10 facing the back straight]. it was great becos it was only slightly more expensive than the other hill stands [RM150 this year for 1 day] but we had roof over our head & big screen directly in front of us. the big screen really help so to make sense of the race but have to check whether it still gonna b there this year. in any case, that wld be my choice if luck doesn’t bestow me a free ticket.
Don’t wait too long bro… coz I wanna go this year, and don’t have gang yet! I wanna see Schumi’s arse being kicked (first hand)! *grin*

went to the race last year…bought the C3 hillstand but 2 days before the race…got 2 free g/stand tickets..hehe…
but I think my frens who were at the hillstand had better time…as for me…sakit telinga & sakit tengkuk ajer yg dapat…hehe
carpool is good..can oso spread out the cost of the parking…
and fazz…I usually go in red to the races..heheh:Pwhen i was my turn to drive… traffic was the worst, jam from the toll gate onwards. heard last year was very smooth…
C3 a little too close to the action… E stand still the best to me,among C3,K2 and E.

last years traffic was amazing…expected a lot of delay..but it was smooth sailing all the way to the track…a lot of cars..but smoothly moving…i like!!

I went the first two years but I don’t know… something about the heat, over-priced everything and uncomfortable drive out of sepang makes it a non-event for me.
Better high-lights over tv too…. with my beer and endless supply of chips (cheaper too!). burrrp!
Maybe the motogp this year though (although I keep saying that every year).
