ParticipantGuys,
Race for this weekend postponed to a still unknown date. So there is enough time now for those keen, to join. DESMOND? no more family event right?
Anyhow, reason for delay is safety – tyre barrier was not sufficiently put up,so I am not complaining yet.
Cheers,

Jules,
….the ASR states that the 125 Open Category requires drivers to have “Minimum of AAM National grade Licence”. I understand that new drivers will be given Novice grade licence, which is not the same. So how ar?[/quote]Has this issue been solved and when is the 1st race?

ParticipantWhat about the license issue that Naza mentioned? Was it just purely typing error or its the rules!!!

…bro, I believe KKS has yet to respond to Jules’s email on this issue. In my view, if this is indeed THE RULE, than this race series will not see any new faces…..another blow to the growth of new talents and Malaysian Motorsports. So, I hope KKS will respond to Jules enquiry……we will see.

ParticipantIn regards to the Licensing – Paul David has written to me and mentioned that a National License is needed BUT the club accepting your entries have final say on whether you can race or not…..which YES, is not much of a firm answer for now.
I did explain that this is the only one senior class available to seniors and there is no option but the answer is still above, which he subtantiated by saying that safety cannot be compromised and the 125 is mighty powerful…..in hands of beginners, which we all can agree.
Naturally, I also mentioned that I am bringing a number of My-Kart members to race in the club. So a solution is needed – which he yet to explain how we can go around this “ruling”.
Technically to qualify for a National License – you need to complete 6 races as a Novice License holder….
I think the solution could be ( THIS IS MY GUESS ) :
1) we are given a special race briefing…after the main one for all newbies – normal-lar.
2) be required to put a special marking on our rear plates…..to show we are newbies ( like P plater )
3) and surely we are observed extra closely by the COC and his marshalls for race conduct.Due to the postponement – they have time and will perhaps ( I hope )address this topic as well in the ASR ( Additional Supplementary Rule ).
To assure you all – thanks to your K1 & K2 experience plus private wings…..all those I know who wants to join this WILL NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES IN RACING SAFELY.
I will keep you informed of any new info….

ParticipantAre there any AAM recognised novice class races for our age group?
It won’t help short term if there are but, if there are not, theres surely a reasonable chunk of the population who find that when the circumstances are right to participate in competition (i.e. justify spending money on kart instead of wife, house, car, kids, food etc), they can’t enter anything.

ParticipantCSetter,
yes, there is RMC I guess…..that is if you can afford to take 3 days off ( your family time ) and pay mega buck for their homologation tyres.
The KKS’s races are a CLUB event – so I cannot comprehend their rationale at the moment. ( the appeal is they run over ONE day and the tyres are….well more kind to my wallet…)
Well, I am still promoting KKS racing as really, this is the next most economical race from K1….
Will keep you all posted, as always.

ParticipantJules
Thanks for that.
Maybe they could sanction our K1 races as novice AAM events (as members have to progress through K3 and K2 to get there), that would mean more members for us being a stepping stone, and, more future entrants for them as we would be feeding them entrants.
Best wishes
Chris

ParticipantChris,
Well, as some would know – we as in My-Kart are threading on thin ice as we are not affliated to AAM and hence our events….are illegal in THEIR eyes. And they are the Numero Uno when it comes to controling of motorsports both in regulation setting and enforcement. ( this includes penalising those who participate-lar…but of course, we always call our event BY INVITATION ONLY & STRICTLY FOR MEMBERS only )
Until My-Kart is recognised by AAM, the recognition will not happen which for the majority, may not be a bad idea…..why? When AAM is involved, the must inspection the track and they charge for this, not to mention other event application/processing fees. This is why, a race entry USING YOUR OWN machine already cost RM250 per round….
At the end – it makes our present more expensive. In addition, all of you will then need a medical, then sit for a test to qualify for a AAM competition license and these are not free, tho it includes a 3rd party liability insurance.
With exception of some of you hardcore drivers – I think the hassle and extra money incurred is not worth effort.
Thankfully, MAM is now in the fray – giving AAM a run for their money….
My wish is for My-Kart to be recognised by potential sponsors as a talent generating/harnessing pool and we feed into the more official racing programs such as KKS. In return, we get some sponsored events/programs…
Anyhow, I am speaking on my own capacity and the opinions expressed are soley mine, based on my littel years in this sports.
I am sure Fazz can address to you more officially.
Chris – back to KKS, if you are keen to race, we can always chat and see how we can get you on the track…..for some hunting.

i don’t disagree with sifu jules. 😉
except that i understand that MAM and AAM are now working together.
we considered the implications of affiliation with either AAM / MAM. what this means to us and our participants are higher costs in general. additionally, it requires drivers to be licensed – which means going through an accreditation process. this additional costs & requirements could affect my-kart’s mission of popularising grassroots motorsports, by making karting affordable and accessible.
at this juncture, i believe we are not ready. (i) we need to start conditioning drivers to go through an accreditation process – hence, chicken wings; (ii) we need to get some form of commercial recognition in order to fund any additional event costs – hence, organising special once offs and encouraging as wide a participation where possible.
one issue we need to address: the size of our DRIVERS series events is growing quickly which taxes our volunteers as well as takes a lot of time from our participants. this is a good problem to have, but we need to address it: any ideas welcomed.

Participantreward volunteers with free coaching….by seniors ( this is to get new volunteers who are typically newbies ). or when finance permit – free runs on k3 which I am sure even seniors will enjoy….
i think many will raise their hands for helping out then…i hope.
of course – there must be a minimum number of rounds where u have helped to qualify….
Aiyah – just my brainstormed ideas and sorry, we should start new thread for this!

Participant…Read the AAM rules clause 33 and was surprised to read that the race now accepts novice race licence. I suppose they revised the requirements already but for some reason kept quiet.
…so guys, gate is now wide open.
