    Folks,

Lightest team = 227kg, Heaviest team = 289kg, difference = 62 kg…! I gather that its about 1.3 seconds for every 10kg per lap. That works out to 8 secs / lap faster for the 227kg team over the 289kg team.

we need to reexamine the present 6kg + time penalty method whether its effective…..as we discussed this afternoon at during the chicken wings session.

    Suggestions:
Introduce a two category race, one for heavy teams (weight to be determine) and the other for Lighter teams (weight to be determine).

…Guys, we need to get an alternative solution quick….3 weeks to go.

    Luen,
As discussed, we are now leaning towards using solely ballast instead of the 6kg + penalty system. We also toyed with this idea since last week (Fazz was there) and this wet afternoon hours ago…….cheh! missed the CRG testing!

Right now we have 15 teams on the thread :

Assumption : 280 kg – MINIMUM total weight

Ladies : No weight handicap allowed.

    0. Team Name|Drivers wt.x4|add ballast|
    1. TeleVas I|286 kg|add:nil kg|
    2. TeleVas II|292 kg|add:nil kg|
    3. Dances wth Crocs|280| add: nil kg|
    4. Supercross Inc.|281 kg|add: nil kg|
    5. Hiroko-San|289 kg|add: nil kg|
    6. Aliens |268 kg |add: 3kg|
    7. Tail Happy|276 kg|add : 1 kg|
    8. Matrix|267 kg| add: 3 kg |
    9. Satria Neo I| 256 kg|add : 6 kg|
    10. Satria Neo II|259 kg|add : 6 kg|
    11. Furtive|252 kg|add: 7 kg|
    12. VM Motorsport|227 kg|add: 13 kg|
    13. Vertical Speed|256 kg|add: 6 kg|
    14. Heritage|254 kg| add: 7 kg|
    15. 360 Deg|279kg|add 1 kg|

    Total ballast needed = 18 x 3 kg = 54 kg

Note A: CK ballast are in 3kg configurations. So, minmum ballast added will be 3 kg.

Note B: In the event, that there is insufficient ballast weights, we can drop the minimum weight requirement to say 270 kg so that a few more teams will not require ballast.

Note C: Since transponders are use, we can us the 10 or 15 minutes to test and qualify for grid postions at the same time?

    Give them kart no.16 😉
Luen, what was the kart number u used yesterday?

These karts should suit lightweight drivers becos it lacks top-end & poor low-end (for heavy drivers) which should even up the disadvantages. 😛

    Basically,using ballast should suffice.

    Ah Luen!,

    Need confirmation on Qualifying Procedure:

Q1 : Each team is free to decide which driver or drivers will drive in the qualifying session, ie, no restriction on number of drivers for qualifying.

Q2 : If the team have more than one driver in the qualifying session, the quickest lap time is taken?

…you mean the big timbang kati one used to weigh driver and kart for the K1 races before? I was thinking of a small one just to weigh drivers with their gear.

    Luen,

Ballast : It appears that we have enough weight ballasts after I ‘ve checked with AB.

Fallback plan: Lower the minimum weight rule from 70kg to say 67kg but this can only be finalised after drivers registration and weighing is done.

Secondly, we need to inform drivers to come early for reg. and weighing procedures. Maybe the following schedule can be posted:

    0830 – Registration (+ weighing)
    0900 – Drivers Briefing
    0930 – Kart Balloting
    0940 – Ballast & Transponder installation
    1000 – Practice & Qualifying start – 10 mins.
    1015 – Final kart adjustments
    1030 – Grid and Start

    Please amend where required.
