Member
first a BIG BIG THANK YOU to Azlan aka saa73 for meeting up with me and witnessing the ‘birth’ of Singapore’s karting group. Paul (my partner in crime) spoke to me about how lucky we were to have one of my-kart’s founding member there with us that night to impart some of his experience and guidance ..
fuji, paul and other founding members.
this is a proud moment for me to see the same my-kart spirit expand to singapore with your group. we at my-kart have long aspired to expand the franchise to singapore. and with more and more my-kart members moving to singapore, the timing is right for my-kart’s involvement in singapore.
good luck in your first event.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKqDumtYOEg%5B/quote%5DTried to find the location/satellite map for the track but couldn’t find it yet.
For us to get to Batam, it’ll be a 4 hour drive from KL to Singapore’s Harbourfront Center via the 2nd Link and Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE). Park car there or somewhere cheaper (or even better free…anyone got suggestions?), and take one of the ferries to Batam island. Takes about 40mins and lots of choices/frequency. I think it’s around SGD30 return if I’m not mistaken. Saw on the net somewhere that the track rental charges are around SGD12/10 mins which is roughly the same rate (walk in) you pay at CK.
The jetty on the Batam side is connected to a big shopping mall and I’m hoping the track is nearby. If we were to stay there, plenty of hotels in Nagoya (cheap cheap) but mind you, be ware to avoid the “dodgy” ones as this is the Singapore version of Hatyai…if u catch my drift… π
worth a trip down..probably best to combine with a trip to Permas too…so…would there be a delegation of my-Karters to this event?…it sounds goooodz…

Participant
any sites that links to batam track? and where is batam? how is the track layout?
Here’s the link to Bintan track ..
http://www.bintan-gokart.com/The track in Bintan is a technical circuit with fast but short straights. For those familiar with Kart World @ Jurong, youβll appreciate itβs demand on your physical strength as well as precision driving. Not many overtaking opportunities here so your qualifying is crucial. Sounds like Monaco?

Participant
Fuji,
That Batam race sounds very appealing and I was talking to some other friends in Singapore last night and they also mentioned that Batam and Bintan tracks. I’m sure there’ll be some interest from my-karters….guys and gals, what say you…let’s head down south for some Soto Ayam Chicken Wings!!! :P
Hey saa73 ..
One the details of Bintan & Batam are finalized I’ll post the announcement in the usual places .. so look out for it ..
And if you come to SG again, I’ll take you to the BEST SOTO Ayam .. !! I just discovered this new place too.
ps/ BTW, Jason & Angeline contacted me about the event on the 24th @ Permas, unfortunately we had no more slots left. But I told them to lookout for the event in Jan @ Batam.

ParticipantHi all ..
4 months ago a small idea popped into my head and along the way came the Caltex event, then the fatefull meeting with Paul, email communications with Fazz (and his guys) who gave me a lot of help and look at where we are now ..
– a successful round-1 .. with many more rounds coming
– dedicated core members and a few lovely lady supporters
– 30-odd members and countingi am really happy that round-1 went very well .. the core members did an amazing job and importantly the participants gave a bunch of crazy guys like me & Paul a chance to organize this event .. i know that there are still a lot of areas for us to improve and rest assured we’re looking at this from all possible angles …
now, let’s keep the momentum going….

and btw, congrats to Desmond for winning our first event!!!
to the guys at my-kart, next time please send us one of your slow racers to boost our confidence .. hahaha ..Cheers,
