How disappointing is that!
csetter
ParticipantSo long as the car is not leaking any fluids, anything goes.
Helmet is a must, and very few people wear a racing suit.
I hope to be there this time around

ParticipantMaybe just one more last run again 🙂
Helmet cam is ready to roll

Participant
SK – thanks for the feedback.
I think there are 2 different considerations here:
1) To run normal K3 race with one group only – ie up to 34 karts, instead of breaking up into K3-A, and K3-B.
Pro’s – This means we essentiall run 2 groups, K1/K2 combine, and K3, and in effect this means a total of 6 races (2 heats + finals, for each group). Compare that to previous, where we had 6 groups x 3 = 18 races to complete -> we cut down on 12 outings!Con’s- Remember, that K3 is our entry level race, and will include drivers who have never participated in a race before. Hence, repeating my view above, I think that putting them in a big field of 30+ karts is a safety risk…OK for experienced my-Karters, but a risk for newbies.
2) To run the “34-kart K3 race” as a separate feature race:
As mentioned by Fazz in a separate post (or was it on Facebook?), since we had so much fun, this may spin off a separate series, perhaps run once every quarter/2 months? – purely for fun!
And I think SK Wong’s posting was referring to this idea…how to run the event to ensure fairness, safety, who should participate, etc?..everyone? K1/K2 & experience K3 only? etc?…The immediate question to answer is (1) – do we run the regular K3 in a single group, or broken into smaller groups as before? – my vote is to split to small groups as before..and we need to decide this before the next race on 17th Jan…

For safety reasons I didn’t want Zaf to join the 34 kart race, I’m sure a lot of other people would feel the same especially the parents of the younger participants we need to attract at entry level. Running K3 as a single group would also be very unfair, as we all know, all karts have suffered different levels of use and abuse and are far from equal.
Now and again would be good idea if everybody enjoyed it. I did.

like the mirror-image shot of the two karts facing away from each other. 😎
I saw him going backwards towards me but didn’t realise he came so close!

ParticipantI’m heading to England on the 6th. I’m hoping to return with a basic lap timer which uses an infra red beacon.
Details are here:
http://www.demon-tweaks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls=MSPORT&pcode=KARLT31
and here:

If anyone is interested in one, please let me know and I’ll put in an order.
At the current exchange rate it works out at approximately RM400.
Best wishes and happy new year

ParticipantThanks for the info.
Its currently an 83 with not too much wear so I’ll stick with that and see how on the circuit.
Engine will be out during my lunch break, I’ll take the opportunity to drop by CK with it this week and see what they suggest, and then take a rational approach! (I didn’t use my compression tester for so long it’s almost rusted away and the tubing cracked). Noticed that the clutch drum has cracked, could have happened when the chain snapped.
Other than that everything is spot on.
Best wishes
Chris

ParticipantThanks for the feedback.
There were a few private karts at CK yesterday. I noticed one thing in particular, almost all the side pods sweep inwards and downwards. This should improve downforce as the underside area is larger, smoother and very close to the ground. I imagine it’s not that much down force, but then it only needs to be a bit more than the competitors.
There was one kart there which looked like the dogs go nads, can’t remember what it was but the pods and spoilers were translucent.
