My Team mate for the CK Night Time Endurance lottery clocked a 1,11.92 last Thursday.

I was bashed repeatedly by some young whipper snapper trying to take the lead. He eventually slid into the right position to hook his front wheel in front of my rear and my kart flipped breaking the steering … we could have won, after the last 3 attempts, having a kart that wouldn’t do better than 1.17.

Anyway, my team mate is some what of a feather weight and we had 5kg ballast, so around 65kg. The kart wasn’t particularly fast on the straights but handled very well. It hadn’t rained for weeks so the track probably had more grip than average, and the tyres won’t have been overheating as theres no sun.

I’ve always aimed for a 1.13 in a reasonable kart. If you get lots of practice and the ‘perfect kart’, the times will get better.

    Hi there,

Computer says no unfortunately, my kart budget had been consumed totally by the car budget.

    Very disappointed.

Hi Mikko

Definately interested but depending on the cost.

Could you post me the asking price to chriset2@hotmail.com before someone else snaps it up πŸ˜‰

    Cheers
The price quoted is RM10,500 (chassis only) as stated in the website.
Thanks for that, if I can arrange the funds I will let you know as soon as possible. It’ll be chassis only for the time being, just had to arrange a car for my wife and the exchange rate hasn’t been too favourable recently :O

    Jules

    Thanks for that.

Maybe they could sanction our K1 races as novice AAM events (as members have to progress through K3 and K2 to get there), that would mean more members for us being a stepping stone, and, more future entrants for them as we would be feeding them entrants.

    Best wishes

    Chris

Are there any AAM recognised novice class races for our age group?

It won’t help short term if there are but, if there are not, theres surely a reasonable chunk of the population who find that when the circumstances are right to participate in competition (i.e. justify spending money on kart instead of wife, house, car, kids, food etc), they can’t enter anything.

Des, no problem laaa, come go shopping for a kart with me …..can do it after the rd4 race. Just walking distance and I am sure Edwyn would’nt mind helping out too!
I’m thinking to get a kart too (it won’t be too long before CK have a Ferrari the way things are going). I wasn’t planning to do so right away, but I notice a few others considering too.

If we can get a better price with a bulk purchase, let me know and I’ll change my plans.

KKS 2009 maybe but I’m no were near ready for that yet.

Have a great round 4 tomorrow, see you at round 5

Welcome to the club and welcome to Malaysia

I had my first race last week and can say that you will not be disappointed πŸ™‚

Regarding the gear, you will find (as I did) that in Malaysia, Health and Safety tends to be your own responsibility, and is optional πŸ˜‰

Helmets and shower caps are available at the circuit.

Suit and gloves are highly recommended, but you have to provide them yourself. Looking at some of the incidents it appears to generally be the incocent party that comes out worse, and it’s better to make the investment now, otherwise you could be paying a bigger price in later years.
