I’m not too sure it’s as easy as it sounds.
It’s quite rare everyone finishes the race on the same lap, so it’s a hassle to keep track of whom are finishing, whom are a lap down, and all this over 2 classes (K1 & K2).
Unless there are 2 lapchart takers, one for each class.
Even then we need to consider all aspects carefully, especially over safety issues.
Just my 2 nasi lomak’s worth.
Cheers!
Ed,
the 4 stroke fun karts we have driven in Sunway and Elite tracks were meant for Scharwznegger type bodies. These 4 stroke 50 cc smaller cadet karts should be light enough having watched some kids driving it in recent days. Perhaps Rizal’s son Aiman can shed a bit more light on “heavy steering” assuming he had driven these karts.
ahhh… that explains the bigger biceps after driving one of these monsters… somehow they also seem to relocate to the lower regions (read:tummy) after a couple of nasi lomaks… bugger!
cheers!

or hers…
ok quick question b4 i actually bring my daughter(s) to the track…
i don’t know about the cadet karts (never actually seen one up close), but are they similar to the normal 4-stroke fun karts (besides being obviously smaller in size)?
because i’ve driven the normal 4-stroke fun karts and they are god-awful heavy on the steering… and i don’t want my daughters to be put-off by this…
cheers!

my eldest daughter turns 13 this month and in the past she has expressed interest to join me during my-kart’s races to see if she can ‘have some fun’ in a kart.
unfortunately i’ve missed waaayyy too many races in 2006 and was hoping to make a more serious effort to lessen these ‘no-shows’ in 2007.
soon i’ll start her with driving lessons (with me as instructor… poor girl… don’t know if i’ll have the patience haha!) and was hoping to promote/inculculate to her ‘safe driving habits’ through my-kart’s activities, so yes, i would definitely put her in this cadet class.

yes, I dun normally start a chat with other patrons of the track unless I know you personally well.

anyhow, blame it on my old age or adrenaline overdose – I dun recall names that well…..so I rather not embarass myself.

BUT, you are always welcome to break the ice and talk to me – no problems. I wear a suit with “HAASE” logo.

I avoid Pilot Belon’s Karipap so I dun need to make a hasty pitstop by the toilets halfway thru race…. :)
yeah tell me about it man…
i got a first-hand “jules treatment” during the last event… it was unnerving… hahaha…
it was when his kart broke down in of the k1 heats… he was walking down pit lane… muka serious giler… then i open my trapped and asked him “what happened la bro…?”… and he just stared at me… rolled his eyes… and just continued walking… at that moment i didn’t know if i should run onto the track and lie down in the middle of it… or just go home… hahaha…
i guess one should NOT, under any circumstance, ask a racer “what happened la bro…?” when his machine breaks down…
aahh… you learn new things every day…!

ok fellas let me ask a really basic (stupid?) question here…
i’m currently using Arai, RX7-RR4 model, which is basically a motorbike helmet.
bought it in usa, and i think it conforms to snell stds (can’t recall, need to check later when i get home).
ok spare me the technicalities on specs for auto and motorbike usage (since obviously i’m not gonna use it for top-level open-wheeled auto racing, nor superbike/motogp), and pls excuse my total ignorance, but to a casual, occasional, recreational, amateur karter like me, it boils down to this: is my helmet sufficient (in the case of my-kart events, up to k2 use) or should i really consider getting a proper auto helmet?
i would have thought a decent-specs motorbike helmet offers better protection than an equivalent auto helmet due to, if anything, to the obvious fact that a motorbike rider is more ‘exposed’ to the surroundings in the event of a crash (or could i be spectacularly wrong here…?)
ok guys… once you have gotten up from having fallen off that chair, either due to sheer disbelief or trying to control your laughter (or both!), pls educate me…
