Sorry to let you down guys, i know i can move upwards from midpack, I think i’ve got great first lap speed, but then my concentration just drops off. About my dad, try to imagine a citroen 2cv, the old one(me) trying to tow an 18 wheeler truck(my dad) the 30 kms from my house to the stadium. errgh!! I hate being a student with no money! I think after graduation and a job, I’ll get busy with my-kart for real, maybe make little “iskirina” quick so i can spoon-feed her towards karting early. I’m gonna make a baaadddd father;)
Dad doesn’t like me racing in my-kart, and he sure as heck ain’t gonna fork out 1000++ per race for the Yamaha Series. Looks like i’m gonna be adorning the mid-to rear end of my-kart for a long time.
When Mikko Nassi gave me my suit, he mentioned this series. Errgh! gotta get better racewear AND a licence to even think about racing in this. Can Chepot or whoever else loan a chassis to us pretenders?
Whom I’d like to see in F1?…Me! ok, half kidding aside, i’d like Alex to get another shot. Fairuz needs to step up his game, Irwan needs to step out of college and Rizal needs to step into a single seater drive again. Maybe Michelle Bumgartner from the Phillipines, again, needs to be more driver, less model. Ooohh Sarah Whatshername who tested Formula Renault a few months back…Karamjit Singh…Mathias Lauda, Piquet, mansell and Senna would be nice additions. Chepot also, y not?
How much? OK, how much for IC3? if we use the current ratio in the kart championships applied here…then i think even a “privateer” institution team can give it a shot. as for the “works” teams, should have no problem forking out the cash. Rm 350 per team is a good deal for stus. that would mean less than 100 per person. we Just need to sell it well.

[/quote]In the Le Mans Endurance series, they have not just 2 classes, but four i think, racing on track together. the open prototypes (LMP1 & P2) and the closed-top GT classes (GT3 & 4 i think) This emphasises not just speed, but more racecraft as well, how you use backmarkers to get an advantage over someone. I suggest an identification system for drivers in different classes, say a bright piece of cloth pinned to the back of the drivers shoulders: red for IC3 and Yellow (as in slow down!) for ISCU.
Well, the plan isn’t perfect yet, which is why we’re brainstorming here. Funkarts are an ok consideration initially, but soon the stus are gonna want more power (like all junkies do). ummm…as for participation, why don’t we ‘risik’ the schools/unis motorsports clubs. i’m sure we can find some nuts who are willing to put life limb and wallet on the line. back when i was in Form 4-5, a lot of my friends wished we can have a racing club, not just to have fun, but to race for the school as well. Abang Fazz, what sort of performance differential are we looking at between 80-100 ccs? 10 secs? cos i’m thinking the Le Mans format will add something different to the spectacle.
As a last word: LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, FOR THE PRIDE OF YOUR INSTITUTION, START YOUR ENGINES!Here’s a ‘proposal’ of the series structure:
*Run according to the MKME series stucture.
*To cut costs for students, using 80cc karts
*Run together with the IC3 (think Le Mans classes LMP1 and LMP2)
*Depending on pricing, 3-4 drivers per team, also to cut costs
*Since it’s mostly run at sepang, a transport system involving volunteers will shuttle anyone without a ride from nilai station(trains are a student transport mainstay) only payment involved would be splitting the fuel charge.
*That’s all i can think of right now. Views anyone?The way we’ve been operating is that who gets started up first gets out first, which leads to a lot of confusion regarding the K3 starting grid. Therefore, I propose we have a system where we make sure that the polesitter gets started up and out first, followed by everybody else in order and to keep it there till the start. And any tardiness gets penalised. comments?
and remember ed, should be affordable for stus. Maybe we can have more drivers per team to split the cost? for stus lah, that is.
