hmmm..for me fazz…i would take the later apex like u mentioned there but if i have some1 like razak behind me who is ready to out brake me,i rather clip the first apex to shut my racing line….kinda a defensive line i would say. no doubt by taking a later apex and your exit line pointing straighter u could get a faster exit speed and less kart movement aka smoothness ..true ??
yes agreed. i myself have used the tighter defensive line a few times… but often results in me being slower i think. that said, for the life of me i tried defending against the likes of nazri ng and nizam – but they simply drove around me on the outside! bah.

Are we talking abt the turn closest to the paddock building….named Turn 10 here? overtaking on the outside? never seen that before cos the outside is typically dirty and u be very slow accelerating out.

Turn 10 is taken cleanly & neutral…..and yes you know u nail it when ur exit is rite on the rumble strips….without going on it.

Yes, and we should group this effort into 2 main categories.

1)Racing / Kart Driving – this includes coaching sessions, marshalling, kart technicals, anything that is track related

2)Social Activities – outings ie TTs, picnics, drives ( convoys ), car track days….w HPC of course, charity events ( Mana Angeline )

Naturally, as members the participation of such events should be subsidised and where possible FOC.

Part of the entry should also ensure we have a team shirt to wear, useful for all offiical events …..cap is too common nowadays.

PERFECT practise makes perfection……no other ways and I dun believe in going in circles unless u just want to impress W&J…..

btw, reading the web is good but you gotta be driving to learn it. ( & prove what u read is rite or wrong cos there’s a lot wrong info too on the www ) Racing is another step all together as driving alone will never teach you RACECRAFT.

Suzuki san is a private karter who recently started the hobby. He works for HONDA MALAYSIA and is in charge of Car Maintenance area, in Management role.

He drives a brand new Kosmic T11, and has an Alfano Astro so he is kinda of an analytical guy…always studying the track layout – a habit which must come from his biking days. Yes, he used to race NSR250 while in Japan.

For a jap, his English is veli ichi-ban! Friendly guy and yes, see I even make friends with fellow karters.

Btw, his blue suit has a HUGE MALBORO patch on his back! he smokes but not sure if he is sponsored by them….LOL!!!

    Bro Fazz,
Life too short to marah one…. 🙂

    Luen,
Sorry, i also changed plan last minute……next time call me-lar! I dun have ur number lar bro.

    Bombe,
The shifter kart has 40 plus hp but it’s not very difficult to drive once you get the rhythm…..of changing gears, counter steering all at once most time. Downshifting n braking are done on straightline which is like a formula car or even road car. Bliping throttle while doing this since we do it without clutch is very recommended.

This is closest thing u will get to driving a formula car, which has the same shifting needs as well. No doubt, many formula drivers start this way and do their winter testing with these little rockets.

Anyhow, let’s aim for another day of joint practise.

    Ciao!
