Participant
just some techinical questions that come across me
1. Is K1 going to be open or confined to one type engine made
2. Techincal specs
a. should define the main-jet (is that how to spell) size, confirm to one size
b. Plug code, eg Denso IW-29? 33?
c. spockets teeth size, for both front and back.I guess we have already decided to tire’s model and compound type. My take is that brake pad compound and rotor will not take so much of effect of the braking performance (please correct me if I am wrong).
Chassis if going to be open for any make, it will be up to individual settings and prefference, that is where the learning is coming from.
Will that ok to take it for this coming 15th TT session for discussion?

neat, balance and practical
Luen,
I try to give u my answer.
– We should allow all engines as long as 125 clutch kart ie. Rotax, Leopard, Sonik and ROK.
– Plugs, jetting should be open. Different engines even stock can require different settings – driving styles changes that.
– Gearing as well since different engine brands revs differently. If same engine, yes you can cross refer but it’s a guide only.
– Brake pads….not important cos 2 compounds only and not critical for hard tyres….
– From chassis tuning, you can learn the basics quickly but kart chassis is a black magic! ( hence needs practise and even that no guarantee…)I can add that if we restrict this and that…..we will soon frighten everyone away and who will also do all the policing? Next thing we say engine must be open to dimensional checks!
This is for fun and if someone is winning all the time…maybe we can add ballast for next round ala Japan GT racing style….
Just my ideas.

ParticipantGuys,
Where are all the other drivers with their reviews? esp those hiring ones? YY? Ashraff? Pelumba Haram?
Since I was on rental kart as well – there was little set up I could do since I first saw the yellow CRG kart sat morning. It was more like hoping nothing falls off, engine dun cough and die, checking the brakes, safety aspects, mount the weights ( darn ), transponder and jumping onboard…..even tyres pressures I did not bother myself…TSK TSK TSK. I also realised my kart had no on board starter.
During course of race, the brakes were “playing up” and also I notice my water pump belts were breaking and going to snap…I saw this while on dummy grid for race 2 and if it did, would have seized the engine. So my exit from Heat 2 from a disconnected earth wire to the engine while in the lead was a blessing actually….
All in all – I think my slight advantage of some experience helped saved the day ( except for the underweight by 0.5kg thingy….silly me ) and made that an enjoyable day for me.
If I rolled up a proper race kart, perhaps I could have enjoyed it more but again it was for fun and I wanted to experience it like a full fare paying rental driver…..
Yes – your own mechanics would be helpful on the set-up and checks but only if they are bothered to adjust and adjust like Fiki’s. CK’s ones would be stressed to cater for all of their rentals drivers unless u kautim them….
cheers.

ParticipantI cannot understand too and we will never do standing starts on 125….PERIOD. Foul plugs will be 50% reason all will be stranded.
Actually the 1st corner after the start on the 1st lap is taken slower than norm so I dunno why this is dangerous. Controlled agression is called for and I expect some bumping here as well, all done at slower speed so it’s ok – so that’s part of the accepted game.
Of course spinners are not welcomed….he he he
Mikko – would u agree on above?
Jules
ParticipantMikko,
I dun think any of the drivers checked their own tyres so let’s hope this improves……which is what K1 is all about – learning the technicals in kart preparation as well as driving.Guys,
EVERYONE will have brake problems – ask ALVIN JOSEPH. He drives a private kart as well and for your info, I had brake issues too. BUT the explanation is simple – it’s the hard compound tyres needing an early brake application.Once again – the issue of differing performance of private vs rental karts is raised and I can only say it wun go away until you all race your own kart. I can say for now – the difference you see in speed or lap times is very driver related, less machine cos the tyres will level out any huge power advantage you have. I can also confirm that all the trick/latest chassis has less advantage with these tyres, as seen in Rd 4 & 5 Rok race this year…..the trick chassis respond better to soft compound tyres. Any amount of changing the setup amounted to little difference, so it was very up to driver to compensate and adjust his driving style.
Maybe Mikko can share his view on these APS65 tyres.
I have no issues with the race but a 12/12/15 laps is fine. The weighing-in at end is also fine.
Cheers.
Jules
Participantcongratulations…..
Now our BARK can be heard, before we bite.

Anyhow, great shots altho mine was a bit blurry!
Jules
Participantcomical-lar u guys……esp Alvin raising his hands after being caught in the tangle! like asking WHY ME?????
Fiki – tsk tsk ! ke ke ke
Actually I heard your tyres screeching and I was bracing for an impact already……
Anywhere, hope all of you had fun cos I did tho it was eventful for me!
Jules
Participantglad you concurr with my statement….and it wun just be on parabolic!
Jules
Participantjust for info
Nohad and me are fathers……so we can understand what your dad is doing.
I think my young drivers talk with a more maturity, direction, focus, sense than you, and I mean its not just on karting topic. So i think its not just the lack of karting skills you have here and maybe you father knows what’s missing and hence protecting you.
Think about it.
Jules
Participantsabelt,
I hand the baton to you…… for your knowledge, Mr Alvin has been a “persistent” but mostly “behind the desk karter” since 2-3 years back.
I think we, me included has given him many encouraging words but the replies are telling me this “man” cannot hack it in this sport, least survive on his own 2 feet, AT PRESENT.
If you look at my last reply closely – you are repeating my advice of getting a proper qualification, a job and then do karting as a hobby. Then no issue with damage compensation since he is earning his own dough but still plenty to worry about killing himself, getting conned in life, giving up karting for family reasons, work reasons etc etc etc – sure he’s not reach that stage in life yet and troubles only get bigger when you are older too – at least for some.
Yes, you suggested part time work, which is a good idea but will he do that when he finds Shah Alam a warzone full of crime, drug pushers, convicts, slashers and FLASHERS too?
In life, you can choose to look at things positive or negative and I do think Alvin’s claimed “passion” is not enough to overcome all the negatives he has painted to himself to positives.
Getting chinese god to predict your life? Boy, u be paying more for your god than karting man! Imagine paying big bucks just to be safe in racing…..pay me, please! I open all roads for you! Seriously, what is stopping ur dear old dad from telling his god to give you this message of you suffering while karting…..this god knows karting or not?
I personally even offered to coach this young man since my fellow racer and sifu Raja Razman failed….so is this giving him a decent break?
There’s a chinese saying – we can bring the cow to the water but cannot force him to drink. With MyKart, you are at the water…..can you just droop your head to drink it now?
When you are older and more mature – you will laugh and understand how true, how patient we have been with you.
Until then, ADIEU. Also Best of Luck, you really need it in life – BELIEVE ME!

Participant

No-lar, all in the name of fun and supporting the concept and you guys.
Btw, I will NOT see my kart till this Sat morning ok……so I dunno what will be prep for me and how she runs!
Jules,
I was told by AB that you are renting the Parilla powered kart. Is this correct?Secondly, since you will only see us on Race day, could you please ensure that AB has your weight+gear and tell him if you need to add ballast.
No idea abt Parilla….must be a very old engine…aiyoh! I drive what they prepare for me.
AB knows my weights and yes – I already told him to place weights…….but if he do it or not, well – let’s see.
Fazz, thanks.
Jules
Participantbetter still give all your money to OSF…..

Jules
ParticipantPatrick,
can you please confirm that my pointers are what we will follow on race day?
please also indicate how many laps we are racing….
I suggest 10laps for Heat 1 & 2…..
and for Finals, 12 laps
If you can get more, ok also but limit is 15 for finals.
The reason for the slightly extended laps is because I expect some drivers COULD be lapped and these will drive one lap less.
Please also make sure they have enough weights on stand-by ( inclusive of bolts and nuts ) and some time allocation to fix these weights on last minute entries to meet your 165kgs. Needless to say, a weighing scale on that day is very needed too.
Thanks.
