As mentioned there are two main reasons drivers have their hand on the side in a Rotax Max kart:
-cover the radiator with their hand to warm-up the engines faster, usually won’t do much at formation-speed because the radiator isn’t getting much cooling. This is likely what the driver is doing on the first lap out of the pits when they are still going at fairly fast pace.-then when going slow on the formation lap is pinching shut the fuel line just ahead of the carb now and then so that not too much fuel goes in. The danger with too much fuel going in when put-putting around is that you will get a slow start – or worse your plug fouls and you get a really slow start or no start at all 🙂 The Rotax carb has fixed jets so you can’t actually adjust the fuel mixture by hand as you can in most karting diaphragm carbs.
I was talking to a few of the petronas guys when they were starting the karting project probably 3-4 years ago. Then I never heard of it until someone said they saw a petronas kart somewhere about 2 years ago. Then again never heard anything about it until now. 💡
Just tried emailing one of the guys I originally corresponded with but it that was a sauber-petronas email account which obviously no longer exists. Don’t know if the guy is even with petronas anymore.
Anyone notice how we missed the champagne spraying in the Silverstone GP on Star Sports? Also mid-race it seemed to skip ahead by a few seconds once, I guess they were just testing for the podium celebrations.

Fauzy is probably about 8th in the line.
😕I’ve added a few other mods to reduce spam as well – no bot signups yet but that could all change once the pages are indexed properly in search engines. Will be interesting to see how well phpbb3 handles spam.
I did remove the mod that prevented users from posting urls because it didn’t seem to want to work as “0 days and 1 post” being the requirement to post urls – I think 0 days was still 1 day.
I have no authorization required for registration at the moment which is a definite no-no if you want to avoid spam but I want it to be very quick to start posting now that the forum is new, and can add authorization requirements later. 🙂

I noticed that you posted “dot org” and made it into a url before I saw your post here.– I think there is a system in place that prevents posting urls in your first post and maybe first day as a registered member – to prevent spam. I’ll get rid of it now though because there’s been no probs with spam sign-ups even.

I’m sure if some my karters win they can try to negotiate 2 100cc sessions instead of 80cc for example! Or for kart owners you could probably get 2 free track rental fees. 🙂 No confirmation on that though it depends on City Karting :),

Can you guys let me know if you’re having trouble registering in the forums? From one computer I can’t register using IE… firefox works, and on another pc IE works.

Shouldn’t be too difficult for a female with any racing experience to be in with a very good chance of going all the way – there aren’t many women in Malaysia with any racing experience.
