Well done to everyone! Great to see people associated with MyKart doing well. The trouble they go through to compete truly reflects the grassroot racing spirit.
1:11.449s was achieved by smooth driving by our smooth young man Jazeman! He can teach us “old dogs” a trick or two …hmm…maybe he can conduct a short clinic next time (I certainly need some expert help!) .. 🙂

It helps that Jazeman is only 14, so his weight should be around 40-50kg? Don’t forget he must have done at least 3,000 laps round the City Karting track.
…………What does CIK 2001/18 means?
2001 is the year it was homologated and 18 in the homologation number. So how come its not listed in the CIK homologated list? ….unless its fictitious. Ask the MORAC office for confirmation than.
If I am not mistaken suit homologation is valid for 5 years which means CIK 2001/18 expired in 2006 (can anyone confirm this?). Maybe that’s why it is no longer listed with CIK? Does MORAC still make suits?

By telling other people you dont brake in a kart maybe cool but you’ll never learn basic racing technique fundamentals. Call me slow and not matter what, I would still brake in a 80cc kart.
The steering wheel is the brake……understand this and you know how to go faster…
Jules has his “Zen” technique for 80cc kart 😉

For beginners, I would suggest concentrate on the basics first : brake in a straight line, apex, racing line, steering and throttle control, then only try out “Zen” techniques!

Personally, the lap in which I felt I have driven the slowest always turn out to have the best lap time. Slow in, fast out and be smooth. You will feel slow but your lap times will show otherwise.

It would be a good idea to restrict the RM160 price to MyKart Club members. Perhaps MyKart website member can also rent the kart but at a higher rate like RM250? The difference will means extra $$$ for the club coffers. Admin wise maybe can inform CK only MyKart Club elected officials can make the bookings?
bro, i am thinking that the my-kart paid members would pay (say) RM250 per K1/CRG round. the CRG/125cc is a sufficient differentiator to the 100cc rentals to warrant a price differential:

    [table class|cost|member price|non-member price|diff to prev class
    K3/80cc|RM80|RM80|RM90|n/a
    K2/100cc|RM160|RM160|RM170|+RM80 & +RM80
    K1/CRG/PRD125cc|RM160|RM250|RM300|+RM90 & +RM130]

this extra margins would be useful for the club coffers. the margin for the K1 is also important given that year 2 & 3 increases would be additional RM10 each year. Also the margin will need to cater for the potential under utilisation if we run less than the allocated number of karts we requested.
Perhaps a discount can be given for MyKart members who commit to the CRG/PRD for an X number of races (prepaid scheme)? Say RM220 for 3 races prepaid and RM200 for 5 races prepaid. This would help in getting the minimum numbers required.

reminder: this thread is readable only in my-KART Core

I would like to restrict this benefit to members only, as this is clearly a deal which you cannot get anywhere (what is the catch, naza?). Also need to ensure that benefits of being a my-kart member is created here.

    so what say you?

……….The four-wheel drive go-kart Chen was using can reach speeds of up to 250 km per hour and is usually reserved for professional racers. Novices usually drive “benign” vehicles with a top speed of 60 km per hour, making the sport “quite safe,” he was quoted as saying.
Not only the article claims the kart can reach 250kph, it also claims the kart is 4WD! argggghhh
………..This would be another blow to promote karting to public as the news are being spread over from newspaper.
Perhaps there should be more publicity and reading materials about track homologation? The homologation papers should be prominently displayed at the tracks, and more notice board posters on safety.

I remember getting into a kart for the first time, I wasn’t told anything at all, nor was there anything to read about precautions/safety/driving.
my condolence to the family…came to know about this only later today…

I hope that the speedway useability is not affected at all…

I doubt there won’t be repercussions. If a 4-stroke fun kart can fly off the track and land onto the highway outside, imagine a 125cc kart?

This is indeed tragic news. A few questions come to mind like could anything have been done to avoid it? I have never felt comfortable about that part of the track, and joked a few times with friends about my fear of “flying onto the toll gate outside”.

There is a story about this tragedy being reported in Singapore with “facts” about 200kph, Petronas station, etc flying about. I am trying to get a copy of the news article.

Looks more like an E39 M5 from the back……..

I sense in one section the BMW was hanging back, not taking the racing line at all as if toying with the Porshce, then she just shot off.

Can’t see the shirt as the image is too small. It would be better if you upload the image to a photosharing site like flickr.com or imageshack and link it here using
