ParticipantI reckon those main roads like Jln Sultan Ismail & Jln Bukit Bintang will be too straight & long for a go kart. How about a lap round the Lake Gardens or the roads near Bukit Aman/National Mosque area? Or in front of Dataran Merdeka where a decent layout can be achieved, although the surface is quite bumpy.
The carpark next to KLCC is quite bumpy & sandy – did an autocross there before, and it’s not that big either.

Participant
so rm1000 x 6 races, plus an “ok-ish” rm5k chassis
so thats like rm11000 for 6 races…does that sums it up?
Motorsports is expensive! That’s why i prefer to start training for half-marathons – just spend RM300-RM400 for a good pair of shoes every year 😉
Jules, is the race still on this Sunday at Elite? Are you competing?

ParticipantI had a similar experience at a Shell station about 3-4 years ago. But that time my car stalled right after the fill up, and I had to tow the car away. The workshop found water in the petrol. Shell made the station pay for the repair bill (AFAIK, shell didn’t pay).
I guess the difference between my case & ur case is :
1. My car stalled at the station, so there is no dispute how the water got into the petrol tank.
2. I wrote a letter immediately to Shell, cc to the station
3. The workshop gave me a sample of the water they found in the petrol tank which I brought to the Shell office in Damansara Heights.
My car was in the workshop for about 3-4 days, didn’t have to pay a single sen when i collected the car.

Well done Luen! But 1997/98 is going quite far back. I am thinking more like the past 5-6 seasons.

Participant
It’s good for Alex and Malaysia. That podium finish has caused many critics to sit up and eat their words.
I don’t think one race changes much. Even Pedro Diniz had his day 😉
Anyone read today’s Star about this new karting sensation from Hong Kong – Ross Jamison? (link = http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2006/2/16/sports/13407361&sec=sports)
Notice this paragraph : “So far, outside of Japan, the region has struggled to produce top drivers, although India’s Narain Karthikeyan has proved the exception.”
So it seems that Alex is not considered a “top driver” even though he is amongst the few Asians to have competed in F1 in the past few years (I count 3 – Sato, Narain & Alex, anymore?).
Still, he is the best Malaysia has now and well done for taking the podium finish!

Participant
Did you see how Alex had to scramble down from the podium to get the Jalur Gemilang (seeing the other 2 drivers standing on the podium wrapped with their nation’s flag)?
Bet the M’sian team will have the flag on the ready from now on!
I was actually looking at those girls that were handing the trophies to the Indonesian VIP……boy were they hot!!!!

Participant
hmmm… let me see if we can invite him to attend one of our races. and either race with the 100cc guys and / or race a demo 125cc with some of the sifoos.
Ask him to race against Wai Leong!!!! We saw him beat Raja Razman, but could be just a PR exercise for the PanGlobal thing :p

ParticipantAlex Yoong….hhmm, I am not too sure about that. Talent wise, you can see from A1GP he is not the most talented driver out there. Otherwise he would be fighting for podium finishes every race, which he is not.
No doubt he is doing well, though he does have an upper hand in that he has driven more powerful machines than those A1GP cars. Most drivers would have come from lower formula cars so they will find the extra power hard to handble at first. Still, he is probably the best Malaysia has for the moment though I think you will find most of the City Karting kart team would beat him hands down in a 125cc kart! Jules, what do you think? I think even Uncle Jules can beat him in a 125cc kart race!!!!!

ParticipantThe drifting won’t start until late evening. the morning and early afternoon is for the time attack.
Count me in for the visit to Rosedi Karts.

ParticipantI was at 911 Zentrum (now called Rosedi Motorsport). Their new Yamaha 100cc kart will be launched in January. Seems that Uncle Naza has already been there to talk to them 😉
Hope we can get an invite when they do the testing!

ParticipantIn the current weather, most likely it will be a wet race if they start at 4pm or after.
Then can send in our wet weather specialists, the Malaysian football team :p

ParticipantFazz, got your new car yet? Drive to Tg Malim for nasi lemak (claimed to be the best in malaysia by my friend, opens from 6pm onwards only) and there is a drag strip there. tested power there : BMW 328i (M) vs VW Golf Mark III VR6 2.8 (M). Syok!
Come lah, get your new car and test power there : new road, 2 lanes each way! Huffiz can also test out his new aerodynamic package :p

ParticipantI heard the new kart track is ready, the drift guys went there already! If it has floodlights, it would be nice to do a nite time race there.
