Mark,

Thanks for the summary. My comments:

Item 4 – Yes, the characteristics of the track changes when we go anticlockwise. As a learning point, I think we need we need to do a track walk and perhaps a committee member go out in a kart to check track conditions. In any case, signages, etc, would need to be moved to different locations in a CCW configuration/

On item 1 – yes, we need to continuously educate all those involved, both my-KART participants, officials and CK staff. On flags, i’m prepared to invest in our own flags – we don’t compromise on safety and having the right no of flags is critical.

Overall, after reading the threads, etc, I think the accident was most likely caused by the shoddy track condition at that turn, and compounded by tyres, etc, which are configured for CW, not CCW. Feedback suggests nothing wrong with the kart, but she most likely lost traction due to hittin the patchy surface.
2ndly, can someone pls explain the (understood) dos and donts? Next time, I’m gonna give more space and also do my best to avoid actual wheel banging. I think my life/health’s worth more than my ego 😉

Btw, how will CK add these weight ballast on their karts & do they have the necessary tools for that?
Dear Scary One,

Go here http://club.my-kart.org/node/382 for the K2 & K3 event rules, regulations, etc.

To quickly answer some of yr questions, we are using rental karts and will not add ballasts for the K2/K3 series. This is not practical given the format that we run and limited time we have. However, you will be assigned to a “Weight category”, in your case you’d be K45 (ie between 45kg and 69kg), and you will score points in K45 category (male). Once you break 70kg, you will graduate and join me and all the other big buggers in the K70 weight category..heheh.. 😉

There will be a comprehensive briefing by Fazz that includes Safety rules just after registration. Hence, please come early by 7.30am to ensure everyone’s registered in time (and that includes all the old timers too…no exceptions this time..8.00am last call…if you’re not there…..friend,brother, sister or not…tough luck.. I will switch off my handphone too to avoid the “late callers!”…!!) 😕
