Participant
Can we “steal” something from Air Asia? “Now everybody can race”
I always thought “popolarising grassroot motorsports” pretty much reflects what MyKart is all about.
Maybe “Fun Racing For All”….just a small change from our current tagline?…..take out the word “amateur”…as we would like to have fun at all levels!

Participantby the way, Valentine’s this year was a write off for me too. I was attending a meeting in Regent KL, and thought I’d be clever and take the Monorail back to KL Sentral, where I cleverly parked my car. As it turned out, every other person had the same idea, and I ended up waiting on the platform in the Bkt Bintang station for nearly an hour! At least 3 trains came through all full, except one that was empty but on “maintenance”, and when I did get into a train, it was stuffy as hell that I nearly fainted…phew! That’s the last time I take the monorail out of KL during rush hour…better to get stuck in my car, with aircond and radio, than squished like sardines in a train!

ParticipantWell, well, well, I had a great race for a change! Things did not bode too well at the beginning though, as my Kart #30 was unavailable for the 1st qualifying and I had to use Kart#18 as replacement. #18 had top end speed but was really hard to control round the corners, and in fact, I was running 2nd place at the end of lap 1, until I braked too hard, skidded a little and lost 2 places and I think ended up in 5th place for that round.
In between races, I was chatting with Ashraff and joked around that he’s one of the most unlucky karters in the K2 group; so much so that the event wouldn’t be complete without the site of Ashraff walking back to the pit lanes!
Well, as fate would have it, Ashraff really lived up to his reputation in the 2nd qualifying! After running over and “beheading” a cone (we now dub him…Sir Cone Buster!), his wheels suddenly came off and flew right over my head in the corner before the back straight! My eyes were fixed on that wheel as it was headed towards me, but at the same time I forgot that poor Ashraff was spinning in front of my kart, but luckily I managed to swerve and avoid him in time. Lo and behold, I saw him walking back, head down, towards the pit lane, and couldn’t stop laughing in my helmet for over half a lap!! heh heh…sorry bro…I couldn’t help myself!Anyway, I had a great race in Kart 22 and chose that for the final race. This kart had real power and great handling, and for both the 2nd qualifying and finals, I was able to work my way from last position up to the top 3.
We had a really poor start for the final race and I think it’s high time we start penalising or banning karters who can’t keep pace up front. It’s frustrating to see immature behaviour up front when the rest are trying to form up for a decent, fair start.
Anyway, apart from the start, it was a great, satisfying race for me as I was able to work up to 4th position before encountering some stiff resistance from Henzee and Jin. Thinking these were P1&2, I made a great effort to hound and fight for position, and eventually Henzee gave way graciously, leaving Jin in front of me at the last lap. Not sure what happened but I managed to overtake Jin at the last corner to cross the finish line in what I thought was P1! Overall a great race despite the “false start”.saa73
ParticipantJoey,
Is this your personal experience or are you forwarding someone else’s email?
If it happened to you, pls email me some specific details, eg date and time of incident, names of persons you dealt with, and I can cross check the incident with our customer service and retail people.

ParticipantMr Nohad, great reporting! I think your “chi kit” pills must have given you some extra “oomph” in your karting skills!
I also like your fun factor ratings in the report! Overall very nice to see other points of views that come straight from the heart (or was it stomache) and laced with a lot of humour too! heh heh…

ParticipantFazz & I were toying with the idea of holding a Quarterly Enduro which would also count towards individual’s league points as well.
The idea’s still sketchy but the Enduro will run more or less along the same format as MyME, with the following difference:
– you enter as individuals, not groups
– we then ballot individuals into groups, in other words each team formed will compose of randomly selected members….you will quickly need to make friends with your new team mates and quickly formulate a strategy based on your team’s situation
– to ensure fair distribution of weight, individuals may be places into 2 or more weight categories, names put into a hat, then ballot.so, for example, to form a team for Kart 1, the organiser will pick names from hat A (featherweight), hat B (middleweight), hat C (heavies…yeah), etc..
so, once teams are formed, the rest of the event runs very much like MyME.
You will then score individual points based on how your team finishes, eg 1st place, all team members score 20 points (or less?) towards the league table, and so on….this will add up on the the points you score for individual races in between the Enduro…
In summary , the above hopefully promotes more team work, team spirit within MyKart (ie you really have to work closely with random team members), the balloting of teams also eliminates the need for late penalty if a team member does not turn up on time, etc, and despite being in random teams for each Enduro, if you are really good individually, you should be able to score points in the team, and even more if you foster team spirit and encourage the “slower” ones to improve…
Anyway, these are my ideas, …. pls comment, add more ideas, or tell me if it totally sucks….. in any case let’s generate ideas for a more exciting 2005 season! (yes, anti-clockwise racing IS an option this time!)….
