There are so many things need to consider when tuning. Fuel mapping, throttle position, ignition timing, MAF sensor, fuel mixture etc. There a time when to run lean and rich fuel mixture in normal driving, qualifying and race. Running advance full IAM all the time wont guarantee you success in race.

Tuning also depending on altitude level, atmospheric pressure, weather, road, circuit conditions etc.

Most of JDM cars runs RON 100 fuel mapping. Tuner can fine tune the map by retarding the map value to compensate with our crappy 97 fuel for more response and reliability on the engine. Smaller value mapping figures means more headache and complicated for the tuner to fine tune the machine like the motec m800 tuning software.

Most modern cars on the road nowadays runs on self learning ECU. It means let say your car starts to knock, the ECU would detect the error code to protect the engine.

So the best method to do tuning is by on wheel tuning instead of dyno machine tuning for better performance.
ahhh..the Unichip…the main cause of electrical problems that dogged Ashraff’s MME team last year, and led to his early retirement and walk back to the Sepang pits…I remember the Unichip…don’t use it on a Lotus for competitive reasons…..other cars Ok I guess…

Just repeating my post here from the other thread..help!

***

Fazz – I was accosted by a group of disgruntled members today who are involved in MME, and threatened to give me a “black eye” and worse, if we don’t change the date from the 30th of August.

One of the suggestions was to run round 9 & round 10 after Hari Raya, since we have 3 months post-Raya to do this, unlike last year.. I don’t think they want to go for 23rd Aug due to MME practice, events, testing, etc…

So how? Need a decision quick..otherwise I’ll have to start signing SD’s and disappearing from the country…these goons are serious…I won’t name names, but one of them farts a lot, the other walks a lot, then there’s an AJK Makan apprentice, and the other one has eyes at the back of his head, and that other big fella loves to eat chicken wings…you catch my drift?

yay yay…I can’t wait for Round 9 on AUG 30!…wooo hoo….. points, precious pointssss…:P

Suggested itinerary Sat 30th Aug (for non MME drivers who want to support MME)
7.30 – 1.30pm: Collect K1 points
1.30 – 3.30pm: Makan
3.30 – 4.30: Head to Sepang
4.30 – 11.55pm: 6pm – 11pm: Cheer and support my-Karters who are driving in MME to the race finish! …let’s get a group thing going and convoy down to Sepang, save petrol, etc etc…:D

Good way to celebrate Merdeka, huh?…my-KART AND MME…cool!

Aiyaa…8 people out only….no brainer lah..Angie hardly joins anyway, Ashraff would have walked and at least we can have a “fart free race” without Desmond heheh…we go ahead with 30th Aug….and for the K1 boys in MME…good luck and thanks for the points!! 😎

And also bear in mind…we still have to run K3 and K2…and not many of them are involved in MME, and besides…only 8 out of 10 rounds are counted for championship points…

I say stick to Aug 30th, and I believe the Viet Cong guy also supports this rite?…

Sorry, can’t afford the high petrol costs.. 🙁
Bro, next year – if it is 24 hours race….then just think how much the entry fee alone will be since petrol is provided by the organisers…..and also fuel wun stay at RM2.70…
and it’s mandatory to wear HANS (Head and Neck support device) in 2009 which would cost you like buying another latest SNELL helmet.

whatever lah…just make sure you all see me if you need any umbrella girls…..we have a “newly certified” list this year… 😎

OK thanks for the feedback. I guess we took a risk on round 6 in view of the weather – but it was good to get feedback from a K2 perspective (Ajak) which illustrates the risk very clearly.

I would therefore agree that given the feedback, that this is a risky format and that there’s a lot of dependency on driver discipline, etc.
Best to shelve this idea as a long term option but I guess it may still be viable as a last resort option when faced with certain exceptional circumstances, eg our weather situation in rd 6…

My thoughts:

Pro’s :
– If we combine K1/K2 all the way (heats and finals), we reduce total rounds from 18 (assuming 2 groups per series), to 12. That works out to potentially 2 hours saved from the total event time.
– Combining just the finals we only save 2 rounds, ie around 40 mins.
– More fun and challenge for all!

Con’s:
– Less time between K1 races – may be an issue for ballast changes, repairs, etc
– Skill/competency of K2 drivers in managing the start (esp in future, with K3 upgraders)
– Lap chart- need 2 sets and can get confusing. Perhaps we could renumber the karts so that K2 are 20 and above? etc..
