Participantby the way that Sepang thing was for A1 GP….
Yeah..the session is on between 11am – 4pm at CK…I think most of us will be there by 12pm….I personally need to have early lunch before hitting the track… 😎

ParticipantI’ve been chatting with Ashraff on GTalk and he’s adamant on this. He wants to take it as a challenge to prove something…quote “like a charity thing without the charity”.
Which gave me an idea….then why not do it for charity then? I don’t mind it so much if he does that…perhaps my-KART can support by reducing his fees and giving RMxx per lap to charity..I dunno….what do u think guys?…

ParticipantGuys, we have a request from Ashraff that he wants to enter a team on his own! Apparently he has no friends.. ;(
He’s asking to be allowed to enter as a 1-horse team, and reduction on the entry fees.
Things to consider:
i) Allowing Ashraff to do this may open the gates for other psychos to set up their own 1-horse team….they may say..if Ashraff can, why not me?
ii) Rules -> To make it fair, we’d need to ask him to come in at every interval, jump out the kart each time and back in, plus the refuelling.
iii) Fees -> we can probably reduce it to what CK will charge, plus contribution to the other fees eg makan, etc… but that still means he pays at least RM250… then people will still ask…I pay RM125 and get 30 mins drive….Ashraff pays RM250 (double) and get 2 hours!!..
OK….we need a committee decision on this one…

Anyway NAza, have AP revealed the $$$ charge for normal CRG session instead of our series?
…you mean charge for practice sessions on the CRG?….so far not yet but I can ask him sometime this week.
..yeah….this will definitely increase the popularity of K1…let’s try to get the price down on this one…because he’ll make much more $$$ from practise sessions than on the pre-requisite 10 races per year…I guarantee there’ll be weekly 125 wings !! 😛

Participant
Just to reconfirm our budget:
A) Income:
– Event fee = RM540/team x 16 teams (64 pax) => RM8640B) Expenditure:
– Payment to CK (inclusive trophies) = RM210/team x 16 teams =>RM 3360
– Makan – Rm12 x 70 pax = RM840
– Models – RM 700
– Walkies (1 set of 2 – to purchase according to Luen) = RM 360 = RM 360TOTAL = RM 5260
BALANCE to KELAB my-KART Selangor = RM8640 – RM 5260 = RM3380
Did I get this right?? In this case, we have plenty of “Moolah” to absorb the costs…
Just to diouble check…Fazz mentioned that CK charged Rm230/kart/hr for SriKandi….I think we should be charged Rm210/hr/kart = RM420 /team right?
Anyway, if the charge is doubled, this is the cost breakdown
A) Income:
– Event fee = RM540/team x 16 teams (64 pax) => RM8640B) Expenditure:
– Payment to CK (inclusive trophies) = RM210/team/hr x 16 teams x 2 hrs=>RM 6720
– Makan – Rm12 x 70 pax = RM840
– Models – RM 700
– Walkies (1 set of 2 – to purchase according to Luen) = RM 360 = RM 360TOTAL = RM 8620
BALANCE to KELAB my-KART Selangor = RM8640 – RM 8620 = RM20….waaahh…ngam ngam !! 🙂

Participant
Oh btw guys,
Are we still keen on running the CRG 125s on the same day or shall we do it separately? In my view, lets do it on a separate day cos its quite a job for us old bones to worry about 10 other karts and besides its not free !….unless AP insists to run it as a promo and its FOC!….fat chance eh!
I wonder if we can have it as an FOC promo and run it after lunch. The only worry would be the weather….have to make sure RainMan is on duty!19 November 2007 at 8:51 am in reply to: UPDATES: 1st Event for Singapore Karting Racers Club, 24th Nov @ Permas Jaya #6169saa73
Participant
guys.. here is the batam track layout.. seems interesting
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKqDumtYOEg%5B/quote%5DTried to find the location/satellite map for the track but couldn’t find it yet.
For us to get to Batam, it’ll be a 4 hour drive from KL to Singapore’s Harbourfront Center via the 2nd Link and Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE). Park car there or somewhere cheaper (or even better free…anyone got suggestions?), and take one of the ferries to Batam island. Takes about 40mins and lots of choices/frequency. I think it’s around SGD30 return if I’m not mistaken. Saw on the net somewhere that the track rental charges are around SGD12/10 mins which is roughly the same rate (walk in) you pay at CK.
The jetty on the Batam side is connected to a big shopping mall and I’m hoping the track is nearby. If we were to stay there, plenty of hotels in Nagoya (cheap cheap) but mind you, be ware to avoid the “dodgy” ones as this is the Singapore version of Hatyai…if u catch my drift… 😉
worth a trip down..probably best to combine with a trip to Permas too…so…would there be a delegation of my-Karters to this event?…it sounds goooodz…

2. Selection of Drivers
2.1 Current K2 and K1 categorised drivers can qualify automatically
2.2 K3 drivers or others will need to satisfy my-kart committee / senior drivers
2.3 A my-kart committee to approve eligible drivers should formalised asap.Please discuss.
eligibility – i would like to keep to paid members… not to be elitist, but will need some form of differentiation for those who have paid their dues. this is supposed to be a deal that should attract more paying members.
driver selection – agree with your suggestion on K2 and K1 eligibility and selection panel.
I concur with the above, and wish to highlight the following points:
– Eligibility -> Full paid up members only. However, I note that if we start in Jan 2008, it is technically within the 2007 membership period. No problem -> as discussed previously (and I still owe the minutes of meeting..sorry!), new members just pay the balance of 2007 immediately if they wish to race on Dec 1 or Jan-08, and that gives them 2007/08 membership until end Mar 2008, and for the 2008/09 period, have to pay that before 31-Mar.
– Class of karters – Senior or whatever the highest one was called – subject to Membership committee’s approval
– Invitiational – There may be times when experienced karters want to join a race -> I propose this can be with the committee’s approval if one off, and if long term,. they should be members and given the highest experience status subject to committee. Eg, what if Ede wanted to join our race, for example….or other experienced karters from overseas, etc..
Ok,…gotta go 4 a meeting! will add more thoughts later.

ParticipantFuji,
You’re most welcome and I enjoyed meeting the group. As mentioned..a key success factor is how you guys bond after the first race, through other social activities, etc.
That Batam race sounds very appealing and I was talking to some other friends in Singapore last night and they also mentioned that Batam and Bintan tracks. I’m sure there’ll be some interest from my-karters….guys and gals, what say you…let’s head down south for some Soto Ayam Chicken Wings!!! 😛

Participant😎 Quick report. I met up with Fuji Sartono on Friday night who kindly agreed to fetch me from the Harbourfront Center as I had no idea where West Coast Park was. Together with his lovely girlfriend Beverlyn (hope I got the name right!), we went over to McD’s to meet up with the rest of the Sing Karters.
It was a healthy turnout with most of the 20 or so participants turning up, and the first problem was lack of seats! However, we eventually rustled up enough seats to start the meeting.
Basically:
– Fuji and his new friend Paul (they met on the Net) are the Fazz/AJK Makan equivalent!….I see great passion in them both and they were already talking to me about how to grow this Singapore group and karting in general in Singapore
– The group that turned up had different levels of experience in Karting, andone guy, David, was president of the now defunct Singapore Karter’s Commission!
– Crucial to the success of this group will be the success of the first event next week, and making sure the group “gelled” and got along very well. They took some cues from the “AJK Makan” and will be arranging makan trips heheheh…
– Lack of facilities in Singapore is a big problem, but the level of interest in karting will pick up very fast in the runup and after the inaugral F1 Singapore.
– They are planning about 6 events per year, and will try to use other tracks such as Batam, Bintan, Permas and even Sepang and Shah Alam. They are plannign a karting trip to Sepang to coincide with F1 – potential for us to host them here!
– Also, they would benefit from alliances or help from karting enthusiasts in Singapore – I would urge Angie/Jason, etc to join and help them out, and any others, eg James Mitchell (Lotus team mate).
– They are not following my-KART’s race formats now. In fact, will be running qualifying heats followed by a 20 LAP race! ,…i mean, wow, 20 laps is actually an ENDURO!…and especially since it’s 1 min 30 secs per lap on 80cc.
– They are still debating the kart selection and weight of karters , etc, and have heard from me what we do..but will try their own format and perhaps refine them later.
– I heard Desmond Khoo has signed up for next week…pls confirm with Fuji and tell us if the track and format is goooooodz!OKm, that was my long quick report! Lots more stories and photos too…will upload them when I get back to KL.
AJK Makan….looking for more Lobster dishes in Singapore!
