I suggest at Chatters USJ 11 (same row as Ayuthaya Rest. and behind Country Barn). Ample parking space, good ambience but slightly pricey.

Guys…..guys….. dont worry. everything will be above board in a day or so. I was supposed to be in Johor for MR6 and APRC, instead had to go to Kangar, Perlis for the 7th round Petronas Cub Prix. Just got back a little while ago. There was actually a mix-up for the endurance trophies. Initialy there were supposed to be 3 categories. Men’s, Women’s and Mix. But the Women’s category was cancelled. Due to too hi-tech ICT that we have, the trophies came on that day were for Men’s and Women’s (the Mix category literaly got ‘Mixed up’). I knew you guys were much too macho to receive the Women’s trophies. Can I call you guys for a round of teh tarik when I got my hands on the trophies, say….maybe Tuesday night? At least for Team USJ, siangwei is also quite near (Sunway).

BTW, how did you guys do last Saturday? Is August a good month for any of Team USJ members? Bro Nohad did text me and errr… it could be the ‘bau kedai’. Need to perspire in it more…..perhaps.

Thank you all once again. Just received sms from bro. Nohad on photos and video. Will get them from MLF tomorrow. TheFazz, I am more than happy to discuss safety issues for our benefits. I was involved in a couple of accidents myself in the past including one which pitted my car against a trailer and a tanker and left me bedridden for three months. But when I saw Ms. Kong lying on the tarmac in a state of shock I just could not bring myself to accept it. Here she was supposed to have fun while generously contributing to a good cause and yet she would not be coming home for the next one month. Frankly, it would not be that hard had it happened in the Expert category. I actually choked when I reported the incident to the C.o.C. It simply shouldn’t have happened. I instructed the C.o.C to step up safety measures immediately. During the Team Endurance, one lady had her hair hanging loose, we immediately called her in (black flag), but she only came in after 3 laps. Apparently, she did not understand what black flag meant. I have actually just had a post-mortem with the C.o.C and the Chief Marshall. These are our conclusions and propose remedies. Hopefully they are useful for our coming activities. The new measures will be implemented next year.
    1. to have two ambulances on standby for emergencies
    2. most of the drivers do not understand the flags. Mostly are from corporations which sent their staff or clients to take part. The remedy is to have different categories. Expert for pros, Advance for season karters like my-KART members and Novice for first-timers or those sent by their companies. If time is the essence than we may combine Expert and Advance categories.
    3. to include important details i.e. flags, safety, tips (racing line and apex) in the entry forms.
Bro Nohad did raise the issue of drivers ignoring the blue flag. Our finding was that they actually did not know what the blue flag meant. Made some calls to some of the participants excluding my-KART members. Sorry to say that 10 out of 10 only knew what the chequered flag meant. We have learnt a lot now and for next year we will certainly be better prepared.

As an A&P and Event Organiser, 90% of my jobs are either on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I can only hope that I could join you all again sometime soon. Any possibilities of an endurance race on a Wednesday night?

First of all a very big thank you to Naza, Nohad, Azmee, ST, Siangwei, Melvin and Tarmizi for your participations and supports of the event. Nothing much I can say since Naza and Nohad pretty much have summed up the day’s affair at least as far as my-KART members are concerned. On the brighter side, all my-KART members won trophies, congratulations. Azmee and ST together with Fazimee and Anas (Anis’ brother) will defend their Men’s overall title next year. Naza, Nohad and Tarmizi together with Anis (Anas’ sister, naturally) came in second. Though ST was fourth in the Men’s individual, he clocked the 2nd fastest lap time. Sadly, there were two unfortunate incidents and one involved Team USJ member, Anis. In the Women’s final which clearly saw a two-horse race, 15 year-old Nur Fazaa (incidently was coached by Anis, kes lawan guru) lost control of her kart and hit Anis’s arm. Both spun out. With her arm and thumb in pain Anis continued only to finish 3rd, a gallant effort nonetheless and Nur Fazaa was the champion. Prior to the incident, both were clocking sub 1.13. After the race I took Anis to the ambulance, she was in tears. Then Nur Fazaa jumped off her kart together with her mom dashed to the ambulance and………..I just dont fancy Bollywood. Red eyes sob…sob. Team USJ’s strategy to race her as their 2nd driver was the right one indeed. But the earlier incident in Women’s qualifying was far more serious. Kong Mun Yee of Sanofi-Aventis was hit from behind and thrown of her kart. She landed hard on the track. She was promptly put into the ambulance and immediately rushed to SJMC. This forced the withdrawal of Team Sanofi-Aventis from the Women’s final and Team Endurance involving ten drivers. All the while after the incident, her team mates kept me posted. I very much wanted to visit her but had to oversee the event. My partner visited her and confirmed that she had fractured her collarbone, lacerations on her face, injuries to her hip but what was worst was the injury to her L4 which would keep her hospitalised for a month.
Lucky thing it happened close to where an ambulance was stationed. And luckily we had two ambulances. While one was sending Ms. Kong to SJMC, another one treated Anis. I think it is best to have two ambulances on standby for future events. Sadly, for me though I will be in Johor for the MR6 and APRC this weekend. Anyway, best of luck to my-KART members and who knows this could well be a fruitful month for Azmee, ST, Naza, Nohad, Siangwei, Melvin and Tarmizi.

Great news. Due to overwhelming requests the Team/Endurance race is recategorised as 1. Men (men only) 2. Women (natural-born women but silicone accepted) 3. Mixed (men/women), ratio is team’s prerogative. For those ‘in-between’ organiser’s discretion will prevail. For further info contact SAM 019-248 9210/016-211 2034.
    Many thanks.

Hi all. Must say that this is one very exciting forum. Yep, got to know about my-KART from Nohad, thanx so much, and have been receiving many ‘welcoming gifts’ through email from TheFazz and I’m feeling very much ‘at home’ already. With regards to the MLF Charity Go-kart Adventure ’06, as the name suggests, its purely for charity. A visit to their website http://www.liver.org.my should be self-explanatory. For the Open event, 100 karters are expected to take part in 10 heats. The 40 best times from the 10 heats will race in the quarterfinals to select the best 20 times to race in the semifinals. From there, the best 10 times will contest for the three podium places. For the Team/Endurance race, 12 teams will race for 50 laps. Each team must have only four drivers with at least one female driver among them. Oh yes entry fees are tax exempted. It will be like a carnival with exhibitions, face painting, balloons, appearance by local artistes as well as gymkana at the parking lot etc. A fun weekend for the whole family indeed. BTW, this event will feature on TV3’s MHI – 01/08/06 – 06.00-09.00am. Still looking for a team to race in the my-KART MME. Any team???????????????
