amazing season opener for 2008. ok, hamilton had a comfortable win. but the battle behind was incredible.

alonso was the star managing to put the uncompetitive renault in 4th. alonso really manhandled the car throughout, and the opportunistic pass on kovalainen and raikkonen was classic. lucky for him too that kovalainen had a slight problem on the last lap, that allowed alonso to repass the mclaren on the pit straight.

strong solid race from heidfeld.. bmw looking good.

excellent race by rosberg.

sebastien bourdais did well to bring the toro rosso up to 4th before it blew up.

i am puzzled by kubica’s form, as he never showed the speed he had in qualifying. another trulli / webber?

raikkonen made the race exciting, but made far too many errors.

the removal of the driver aids is a great plus. they should have done this long ago.

and, after a long time: many retirements!

opening qualifying seems to indicate that hamilton is well placed to win the 2008 championship as repayment for the championship he lost last year.

ferraris look a little disappointing, but the BMW of kubica is surprisingly quick. nice one.

Rather than bring this thread off topic, why don’t we continue the discussion in the following thread?

the subject of street races re-surfaced in the recent thread on racing in sepang. Rather than bring the other thread off topic, why don’t we continue the discussion here.
when are we goin to do street circuit??
:shy:
yes, i mentioned this before… but we need to put together some concept papers; but more importantly we need “cables” and some funds to do this. to be honest, i have done nothing of the sort. but if anybody keen on putting together some concepts and perhaps bring a few people from the councils and some potential sponsors, then i would be more than happy to oblige to provide the vision.
Then you can set the time to 12.30pm or 1pm because they are always some late comers, and we will have a briefing session with the newbies. And when the clock strikes 2pm.. WINGSSSSSSSSS!
then i’ll leave that to you, my wing commander! 🙂

i found out from CK that the track is available for walk ins after 2pm.
What Edwyn had done for the past two “official CW sessions” using the NAD format was to pick the weekened before the race weekened. This had worked fairly well in my view. (thanks for driving this Edwyn).

Edwyn had set up an arbitrary forum thread in the past to gauge interest.
quite right. apologies.

as practiced… the weekend before round 4 is on 30th march. reason for this, is i also wanted to fix a time to bring my neighbours for a casual karting do… so wanted to synergise and fix the date for them.
i will need to know how do you intend to do it.. professionally? or just a bunch of my-karters filming the safety video. basically i have voice this out before.. but it came to a sudden stop.

basically, if we are to film on our own..
1/ actor and actress (just normal my-karters will do. they are all talented. how many? based on the storyboard)
2/ a storyboard and script – i can sit down with you and talk about what we need to shoot for the film
3/ a video camera (a good one – maybe with 3CCD. maybe i can borrow from my ex-college)
4/ an empty track from CK – so we can use the place fully
5/ apply leave!

after all that..
1/ film editing – i can sit down with you and we can do the editing together or i will edit it first and show you later
2/ add on effects (if needed)
3/ render the video
4/ burn it to a dvd

mainly the above is just a draft on how the process will be. surely there are more stuffs in the process.
sorry edwyn that the idea came to a halt. i forgot about it. happy if you want to drive it as i have no objections. although i would like to ensure the messages are right, the quality good, and the my-kart branding clear – visually as well as perceptively.

so let’s work together on the storyboard first. i would like to organise the various thoughts and topics into logical chunks. then i would also like to make sure the language is appropriately simplified. most important is the sounds must be clear with little background hisses and noise.

as for “actors” we should use our own my-karters. i would like diversity too, with some ladies, kids and old dudes (you know who you are, he he he).

i would also like the video to portray my-kart’s values clearly (without being too obvious and preachy about it).

edwyn,

i forgot one thing: i had discussed with CK that they should have a video brief of kart safety and techniques… thought of doing one using my-kart talent and creative video production… any thoughts of who can do this?
