Given that most if not all of us will be taking part in the race, it could be very difficult to get volunteers to play this role. In previous races, we had the track operator to handle this task, if I am not wrong (Fazz can clarify). However, it can still be done provided we can confirm very early a list of people to do the job of timestamping. Relying on getting volunteers on the raceday is very risky cos everybody will be too excited and preoccupied with the race…..as we have seen in previous races.
we did not have much administrative help from the operators in the past. in our first ever mega-enduro, we had some wives / gf of drivers to volunteer. but that was pretty hectic for them. we can try again though.

Member
CK wan xin’s boy friend does offer this help last race during our launch, however it was cancelled at the end due to rain. Not sure this round if they are willing to lend a hand. Yeah our resources do matter though.
yes – getting helpers to do this would be important. most of our guys will be focussed on racing.

Member
unlimitted driver change is the significant difference to previous endurance format. If pre-determined driver change time slots, i see everything will pretty much sustain back to old format except longer race time. Pertaining to old format I see there is somewhat favour to lighter teams which not much of the strategies applicable.
Anyhow is majority call.
luen – i wouldn’t go with a consensus here, as i do believe we should experiment a bit more. but happy to continue the discussion. i have no problems if you make the final call. 😉
i like the unlimited driver change… but i would have thought that logically the best strategy would be having the least number of stops possible: which will be 3. so the most aggressive teams would only stop 3 times and perhaps even keep their fastest & lightest driver out for the longest time possible. so there is a need to monitor the time of each driver stint.
we did this once – in our first ever mega enduro race. we had drivers clocking in an out… but it got a little hectic at the clock in desk. and some drivers even forgot to clock in/out. logistics and thorough rules understanding by the teams will be absolute importance. we should think how to do this.

MemberThe FIA statement
13/09/2007
In an extraordinary meeting of the World Motor Sport Council was held in Paris on the 13th of September 2007, The following decision was taken:
“The WMSC has stripped Vodafone McLaren Mercedes of all constructors’ points in the 2007 FIA Formula One World Championship and the team can score no point for the remainder of the season.*
Furthermore, the team will pay a fine equal to 100 million dollars, less the FOM income lost as a result of the points deduction.
However, due to the exceptional circumstances in which the FIA gave the team’s drivers an immunity in return for providing evidence, there is no penalty in regards to drivers’ points.**
The WMSC will receive a full technical report on the 2008 McLaren car and will take a decision at its December 2007 meeting as to what sanction, if any, will be imposed on the team for the 2008 season.”
The full reasons for this decision will be issued on the 14th September 2007.
* Points gained by other teams so far this season will not be affected.
** No McLaren representative will be allowed on the podium should a McLaren driver win in any of the remaining races of the 2007 season.
Article from Pitpass (http://www.pitpass.com):
the championship still continues for the drivers… but not McLaren.

The race
===============– All team member compulsory clock minimum 25 and maximum 35 minutes of track time. Every 3 minutes excess of total team and or individual driving time will minus 1 lap at end result
Every 3 mins excess of total team?….theoretically not possible as race will end at 100 minutes.More important is how do we monitor each driver of every team not to exceed 35 mins. Some sort of system is needed, maybe discuss later.
monitoring driver stint times is a little difficult i thought. any objections to pre-determined driver change windows – like what we did for the old mega-enduro races? that way we can check teams that change driver and avoid any teams having their fastest (and lightest) driver drive the majority of the laps.
thoughts?

Member
1. If a team is not satisfied with their kart, allow the change AFTER the Qualifying session has ended. In addition, the team will lose some positions (decision?) as penalty.
2. Allow kart change, subject to availability only if it cannot move due to its own fault. However, no kart change will be allowed if the kart cannot move due to accidents irrespective of who is at fault.
3. What about total driver weights?…..shall a minimum weight rule be adopted?
yes to change & penalty etc. also agree on weights. yes to early bird too.

Member

Team, please fix a price. Thanks
I am ok with 600 per team / 4 drivers = 150 per driver which will include trophies, medals and light refeshments.
Umbrella ladies are NOT included for now (Auntie, how?)
i am ok with this. let’s do this and get some goodies.
TheFazz
Member
The MAAC they charged RM80/driver = RM320/team…. i did saw few boxes of ‘mineral water’ for the participants & packed noodles and for the prizes they gave medals for the top 3 teams + a bottle of ‘sparkling wine’. The team with the fastest lap time also received a medal… err i believe that all :shy:
this is what i am saying. the market value for a 1 hour enduro (plus practice) is around RM300 per team (or around RM100 per driver). we would like to be able to give out goodies etc. so if we can do this then it’ll be great.
TheFazz
Member
-RM500 per team over 4 drivers (RM125 each driver)
-RM10 rebate to club member
-20 minutes non-stop qualifying, compulsary for all 4 drivers. Take average time for grid position.
-100 minutes enduro, unlimitted pit attempt.
-Max drive time per driver no more than 30 minutes and no less then 25 minutes.please comment
sounds ok. although the RM500 per team works to about RM250 per kart per hour… which is significantly lower than the A1TM and MAAU events i believe. are we ok with this?
TheFazz
Memberbro – thanks for this.
1. i am ok with maintaining “market price” to participants at RM240 per team per hour. but do benchmark with the A1TM, MAAU event and other similar events. A1TM event was RM300 per team (but includes additional time for practice etc)… see http://club.my-kart.org/node/1552
2. price at RM160 per driver may be too high… given our experience with the TEAMS enduro series. ~ RM100-RM120 per driver sounds alright…
3. 2 hour enduro sounds daunting for the non-hard cores… what if we position it as 30-45 minutes practice & qualifying and the rest are enduro?

MemberExcellent news and a worthy commendations to both drivers and their parents respectively. As mentioned, my-kart only discovered these talents, but the rest is entirely their doing. Without the support, commitment, passion and discipline they would not be where they are. so full credits to them.
so all the best in the world finals.
as for my-kart, we shall keep having these racing platforms to find new talent. it gives me great pride to be see people (male / female, young / old, rich / poor) who come through my-kart achieve things that would not have been thought possible. Let’s build on these foundations.
