Memberraycerdiva – the question i have pertains to the 2 hours. is this 2 hours track/race time or 2 hours block time? i think it is an interesting concept which we should discuss in more detail.

Member
Thanks guys… I didn’t go track-side for long because forgot my sunscreen and the sun was scorching hot – still got a bit burnt! btw… I know I saw a few other photographers that took pics track-side, who were they – and more importantly where are their shots? :)
i think azlee is the other photographer around on the day.

Memberthanks mikko for the summary of the discussions we had with ray & racerdiva.
i would like to have further discussions to iron out some details. but yeah, i am very excited about things in store for karting in malaysia right now. and great that you are equally excited as well. let’s work together on this.
TheFazz
Memberagreed. but implementation is important. given the time constraint, not sure if we can do for each race registration.

Member
Folks,
The message I have advised all the time to my kids and friends is to be 200% alert to avoid wheel contact….motorsports is not a contact sport like Rugby !
Thanks Yazid, that video clip in slow motion showed the rear wheel lifting into the air, than sliding sideways and finally overturn. It looked like his rear wheel has ran over the adjacent rear which caused the lift. There is no point pointing fingers but the most important thing to remember is every driver must try their best to avoid wheel contact.
Fazz is fast……yes, his own experience has something to do with that.
agreed. karting is not a contact sport. even a slight wheel on wheel contact can easily flip a kart. what is clear from the clip is that it was a racing incident. 3 into a tight corner won’t go.
my observations:
+ 3 karts were turning into the slow corner
+ the middle one was slightly behind
+ the middle one was out of visibility as far as the front outside kart is concerned
+ the front outside kart turned in tighter than expected and forced the middle kart into a contact
+ the wheel to wheel contact caused the flipas i have said before, first lap action is always nail biting stuff. every start i get nervous that nothing bad happens. my own experience – first corner, first lap, first race – was not one i’d like anyone to go through.
in my incident, nobody came to my rescue and i had to turn the kart upright myself. the race was not stopped, and i was even thinking of wanting to continue. only then i realised something was not right with my shoulder…

I was impressed that the 1st person to arrived at the scene was TheFazz (A round of applause to Fazz!)
Well guys, though we don not want such a thing to happen but sometime it is unavoidable as this is racing.
Anyway, the person involved was ok.
thanks yazid for the great clip. i am relieved to say that the guy (hafizal) was ok. did an x-ray check and was discharged after a few hours.
the thing on my way there, my phone dropped and i sort of paused to see what fell before turning the kart over. i saw the guy was conscious, so that was a good sign. also needed to ensure that nothing broken so had to let him remain in his “default” position until the ambulance came. the ambulance was there in good time as well. the response to red flag the race was also swift.
quick action all round.

Membergreat meeting you as well.
thanks for the photos which are excellent! love the action shots.

Member
…was just thinking after discussions with Luen on tomorrow’s race order. Can the following work? ….so that drivers can be guided.
Assuming k1 – 1 group only, k2 – 2 groups (K2A and K2B) , k3 3 groups (k3A,k3B, k3C):
HEAT 1
Race 1 – k3A
Race 2 – k2A
Race 3 – k3B
Race 4 – k2B
Free Practice – K1 (5 laps)
Race 5 – k3C
Race 6 – k1HEAT 2
Race 1 – k3A
Race 2 – k2A
Race 3 – k3B
Race 4 – k2B
Race 5 – k3C
Race 6 – k1FINAL
Race 1 – K3 Final C
Race 2 – K2 Final B
Race 3 – K3 Final B
Race 4 – K2 Final A
Race 5 – K3 Final A
Race 6 – K1 Final.Comments please!
i think workable. 18 races means ~ 6hrs. turnaround and an early start is important.
