Memberiski – good suggestions there.
I think most importantly is how much would an average student want to pay to participate on a quarterly basis?
The next step is to get the educational institutions to provide sponsorships for the prizes and goodies.

MemberThe track is an indoor circuit at Bercy. The crowd response was amazing & electric. Brilliant entertainment! Karting has some great entertainment value.

Member
Well, the plan isn’t perfect yet, which is why we’re brainstorming here. Funkarts are an ok consideration initially, but soon the stus are gonna want more power (like all junkies do). ummm…as for participation, why don’t we ‘risik’ the schools/unis motorsports clubs. i’m sure we can find some nuts who are willing to put life limb and wallet on the line. back when i was in Form 4-5, a lot of my friends wished we can have a racing club, not just to have fun, but to race for the school as well. Abang Fazz, what sort of performance differential are we looking at between 80-100 ccs? 10 secs? cos i’m thinking the Le Mans format will add something different to the spectacle.
As a last word: LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, FOR THE PRIDE OF YOUR INSTITUTION, START YOUR ENGINES!
we still need to brainstorm more. certainly getting some risik from some institutions will be useful.
as for the differential between 100cc and 80cc: at shah alam the times are about 10-15secs difference. It would certainly add to the spectacle however, we need drivers to be cautious at all times – especially when lapping and being lapped.

Memberrossi & loeb are natural favourites. of course, the names you mentioned from “the other side of the pond” like patrick and wheldon are other popular choices. personally, I’d like to see a true asian star. perhaps ho pin tung.

Member
Here’s a ‘proposal’ of the series structure:
*Run according to the MKME series stucture.
*To cut costs for students, using 80cc karts
*Run together with the IC3 (think Le Mans classes LMP1 and LMP2)
*Depending on pricing, 3-4 drivers per team, also to cut costs
*Since it’s mostly run at sepang, a transport system involving volunteers will shuttle anyone without a ride from nilai station(trains are a student transport mainstay) only payment involved would be splitting the fuel charge.
*That’s all i can think of right now. Views anyone?
your proposal is workable, but have to be confident of managing a much larger crowd with the IC3 guys. As for running the two categories together… safety may be a concern.
the other option is to have a separate session for the ISCU, but on a different format – say 1hr enduro for 4 drivers on 80cc karts.

Member
I’m wondering if Fazz’s fuel charge (BMW 525i M-Sport) will be higher than mine (Citroen minibus)…?
cabuttt!!! 😀
so are you volunteering to be the official transport?? cabutt!! 🙂

Member
a question about yellow flags. i was helping out with the marshalling at round1, i noticed 2 drivers were overtaking right in front of me, while i was waving the yellow flags!!
is the yellow flag a permenant feature? or due to lack of manpower, it can only be practical at the corners near the pitlane….
due to lack of manpower and *ahem* flags, the yellow flag is only station near the pitlane. it is only thru our own initiative (and I notice your efforts waving it at various corners), that it gets waved. In sanctioned races, yellow means slow down and no overtaking… unfortunately, we cannot do this in my-kart events due to limited manpower and inability to observe the relevent parts of the track to pick out the offense.

MemberThanks for the feedback so far (keep them coming in) – these are very useful.
Just thinking,,,, Is it possible to introduce “Early arrivals get best positions for the heats” I mean starting grids. ( At least for the first heat) then subsequently we may have heat 2 as in normal positions placings.
-How to determine,? During registration and ‘bayar’ time.
this early bird idea is interesting. i have to think about this. however, the seeding system that we have now is designed to give some sort of order to the events. an early bird system would be a bit more confusing.
As for Siew Weng’s suggestion of early birds chosing their karts – this will delay the process – you know how some people have difficulty making up their minds. *wink*
Tarmizi’s suggestion on a warm up / practice session is also not feasible as it will add more time to our already long events.

Member
i agree with sabelt and would like to add my 2 sens. just like k2, the k3 drivers should be informed about their starting position. this will save time n trouble arranging the karts on the starting grid.
one way is to inform each driver who they line up behind, so at the formation lap, all they need to do is just to find that driver/kart he/she has to line up behind.
this can be quickly implemented. no problems.
i would also like to mention something regarding drivers briefing. i noticed many k2 drivers will lepak at the laptop/food area when Fazz is giving his briefing. k2 are experienced drivers, no doubt about that. does that mean regular k3 drivers get to skip drivers briefing too?many k3 drivers are indeed regulars too. need some clarification on that. cheers.
everybody needs to attend the briefing no matter if they already know what I have to say. however, frequently those that congregate at my notebook are usually volunteers helping me out with the administration… so they are exempt in order allow the event to move on.
I also take note of the participants punctuality. Yes, this is a problem which we need to address. I have usually been lenient here as we aim to build the community. That said the need to be stricter is important.

Member
and remember ed, should be affordable for stus. Maybe we can have more drivers per team to split the cost? for stus lah, that is.
the format too has to be different. perhaps 1 hour enduro for 4 drivers on 80cc.
However, may I request that the response get back on topic in relation to my participant survey. Please feel free to create another thread for discussion on any proposed ISCU series.

Member
Dude… spot on!
We need to get more youngsters to participate… this is critical to ensure continuity in my-KART’s ‘popularising grassroots racing’ concept.
definitely – the next step after the IC3 is the ISCU series – inter schools colleges and universities. But let’s get IC3 off the ground and running first.
Fazz,
You introduced the light/heavy sub-category… perhaps next step is age/gender sub-category?
This season we are seeing an increase in female entries,if you create a sub-category now we could see renewed enthusiasm from them (and possibly new interest from outside),as they will have their own little ‘championship’ to fight in!
Age should not be a factor. But as for gender – perhaps if we can get more women joining the races regularly. Tried that in our first season but the participation was inconsistent. Btw, what happened to Tg Sofnis?
TheFazz
Memberthanks jules & tom for the inputs.
to others, please help me build this list.
cheers
