MemberNow this is going to screw up our A1GP qualifying and my-KART annual dinner!
Pitpass is reporting that the Malaysian round of the A1GP on 18-20 November will be held at night!
Now… obviously this is tailored to gain European TV audience by having the race at 1300hrs GMT. But for us, Monday morning is going to be a write off.
However, instead of going to the track for qualifying, perhaps we could watch it on big screen TV at the Annual Dinner?

Member
sounds good…that means we can buka in one of those nice Shah Alam restaurants prior to the race….I want to redeem myself after my AKOC’ed up disaster!…
that doesn’t mean that we would up the minimum weight from 130kg to 145kg (kart & driver) just to meet your minimum weight. LOL.

Member
does the Xtreme Park cafe do buka puasa? maybe buka, then race on the new track??
I dropped by the Xtreme park “track” yesterday. To me it is not a proper track and I am not sure whether they have the karts there.
In any case, Shah Alam has night racing, and I plan to test it out one of these nights to see what is the visibility like. If ok, then I would like to do a variation of the AKOC – ballot & add weights – event. Perhaps a 1 hour enduro (1 driver). Cost estimate is RM200… but will have to talk to Citykarting. Any help would be most appreciated.

Member
Wei Li, thanks.
A higher offset means the wheel will sit deeper into the car…right? Will have to check if +35 will fit w/o any problems.
Umm…anyone selling a set of 147/156/164 16″ rims…?Citroen sifus…what are the wheel dimensions for the Xantia..?
not sure if we have many Citroen owners around here, and I am hardly a sifoo in this respect. Only drive the thing. Cannot help you here, sorry.

Asrul… not many other drivers who wear size 48… I think Udi, Khairul and perhaps Tom are 48s but all have their own suits. Anybody can think of any other 48ers?

Bro,
Must go to Sepang to see with your own eyes…..tengok TV tak sedap!!!
Let’s make arrangement to go there to support the Malaysian team on 20 Nov 05.
(+ a little side agenda – test out the 100cc again at Sepang karting track. Nak lepas geram as I did not get to test out the full potential of the kart b’coz I lost 100% of my kart brakes from my 2nd lap onwards during the last endurance race)
Bro – sounds like a good idea. A1GP race & 100cc kart test.

MemberBro – thanks for this.
I was indeed pleasantly happy with the outcome of the race itself. 5 myKarters participated in the event: Azlan, Rizal, Tom, Henzee and myself. In fact, the winner Kelvin Lee also has joined myKART recently and will hopefully see him soon (ie tomorrow).
As usual, the event started with the time trials to determine the 10 who would qualify for the day’s final race. Each driver was given 12 laps to post a quick lap. Most of the top 10 qualified within a second of each other (50 secs+), except Tom Tan who dipped below 50secs over the shortened Kartquest track.
Most of the karts were quite closely matched, although there were exceptions as always. So my aim was to keep reducing my lap times by being smoother and smoother over each qualifying lap. 12 qualifying laps over the shortened track turned out to be quite a challenge as the karts were heavy and understeered too much for my liking. So a lot of forced needed to be applied to make the karts turn in. My best lap time was 7th overall with Tom being the fastest.
I made good progress in the race, capitalising on a good start and mistakes of others to creep up to 4th. I had managed to close in on Tom who was in 3rd (gap less than 1 sec), but could not get close enough to pass him before the chequered flag.
4 secs ahead of Tom I could see Henzee hassling Kelvin for many laps. They were both racing bumper to bumper. Henzee quicker in the twisty bits, whilst Kelvin would pull ahead on the straights. At one point Henzee even got ahead only to be re-passed by Kelvin. All credit to both of them for racing very closely but very fairly. Well done!
Aside to this, I spent some time talking to Alex about A1GP, the Panglobal event, Kartquest, and grassroots motorsports.
A1GP is quickly gathering momentum with a test session recently done with 15 countries involved. The Malaysian round will be on 20th November – which seems to be a date which clashes with at least two other major racing events in the region (Macau GP and Langkawi World Karting finals – which I believe is straight after).
As for Panglobal, they will still continue in 2006… but it is not yet clear what will be the format. Although I get the impression that Kartquest will still be linked with the series. And speaking of Kartquest, I am told that a new circuit would be built near to the current one – which will make way for some other development. Let’s hope they build the new one quick and that the layout is good.
On grassroots motorsport – we are aligned but the key is cooperation & alliance. This market is too small for many players.

MemberSebastian Loeb took over the lead from Petter Solberg half way through the Rally of Argentina. Loeb is gunning for his 6th consecutive victory and 7th win overall in 2005. His progress in Argentina was not without drama as he hit a cow (which died) and caused him some off track excursion and damage to his Citroen Xsara. But he still leads by 30 secs… can anybody stop him?
