Seriously, there’s no straight answers since one corner is connected to the next via straights. The entry & exit from these corners depends on the entry & exit of the next corners, amongst many other things like track grip, width and of course, your kart power, tyres.

The key points is to know which corners are the important ones on the track.

I tend to agree that late apex is typically the safer bet…which is applicable to road driving as well. If someone is trying to pass, then the line changes…which u know very well. the corner we stood at is a Late Apex one, which all of you know now.

There’s no magic to this……practice and basic physics.
Coaching a bit laa sifoo! Tell us what we are doing wrong and what we are doing right, so we can fix or improve!

Of course… the humourous bit is thinking of how it would be under current regs. They should have just said that on board starters are mandatory as you mentioned.

does this mean the end of petronas’ technical involvement in F1?

It appears that Petronas is keen to negotiate with BMW.

    dear all,

Steward, Jules, Jason and I met with Uncle Ng after the round 6 event. We discussed about (i) the 80cc price increases; and (ii) future collaboration between myKART and Citykarting towards the myKART vision.

I must say that the meeting went well. For now, we shall have no price increases until the end of the year. Having said that, we need to recognise that Citykarting has invested quite a bit on new kart engines. So in reality Citykarting would need to recover some of their investment costs through the events.

We explained the myKART vision and the aim of building the sport from the ground up. I believe this was understood by all, and as a gesture of goodwill, Citykarting will “subsidise” the kart rentals for the remainder of 2005. We will be able to use the newer karts (which is only reserved for special events like ours). We shall agree to an increase for 2006.

As a business segment, the pie in relation to karting is fairly small, and seemingly getting smaller. The danger I see is if we fail to generate more interest and enthusiasm, the sport will become an even more elitist hobby – and will never reach the mainstream.

myKART’s challenge now is to grow this pie. Let’s all be part of this growth!

    Cheers
    Fazz

    Forza myKART!

Steward. On costs, I believe Wai Leong calls the shots. But anyway, perhaps Jules, you and I can discuss with Uncle and Wai Leong.
I appreciate what u hav done so far… tak semua orang sanggup to do most of the work that u hav done… If u remember I hav given my suggestions of forming the “Strong Front” earlier?… and now it’s on its way.. good for My-kart.. of course I will always support My-kart growth.
Bro – thanks for the vote of confidence. But there is no turning back for myKART and we have to move things forward. So the more help we have, the stronger & faster we can move things.
Yes, City-karting is doing business… but what I’ve been thinking and try to understand is that can’t they give such a priority to us regular customer that has been given them a fixed monthly income of RM5000 to RM6000 (may be my calculations wrong..) ?? or may be that amount is too little for them?.., we are the regular customer that using their kart like our own… and we did always put safety comes first…. and so many good things about My-kart but they still ignore it??… I don’t know what to say…
Agreed. We just need to build on the relationship together. We must be careful to ensure that we work together to build this and not be tempted to take advantage of each other. What myKART needs to do is to explain to Citykarting our long term plans. And that it is both our interest to help each other to work towards these long term goals.
Oh!… ya, don’t forget to register my name for this saturday event, I think I can make it this time…

I did mentioned/brought it up before… the impact… so now its happened… Fazz, don’t let them take advantage on us… may be Jules can help defending the rates…
bro – in addition to what I said earlier, I cannot blame Citykarting for doing what they do. They are after all in business to make money. So this is natural, especially in a pseudo monopoly. I believe we can maintain our rates. But that does not mean that we will not have to revisit this later. So again, it is about what other value does myKART create? Sure we are providing a steady income. But what else?

You did mention this before, and I am trying to manage this. Quite clearly we need to have an exclusive agreement up front, and I shall work on this for 2006. We now have little option aside from exclusivity as sadly, we see fewer kart operators running these days which gives Citykarting an almost monopoly. So their bargaining hand is stronger than ours.

It is therefore important that we develop our long term strategies in order to gain a stronger position in the market. We are already working on this, but I need and welcome more passionate participation here. myKART’s strength is its core values which support a strong vision for motorsports in the country. We need to really take advantage of these values and vision to strengthen ourselves even further.

Nothing is going to be easy, and we have to accept and expect these challenges. One thing’s for certain, I cannot do this alone.

    Steward – just one clarification:

we started with RM75 >> then increased to RM80 (new rates) and then >> RM90 (to include the ambulance standby as well as build a fund for year end). The increase proposed by Citykarting is an additional RM20 (so to RM110). I have said to Wan Shin that this is not acceptable so we shall use the older karts.

I realise that this kind of changes are not good. Somehow we must find a sustainable position. But this requires heavy discussions with Citykarting. I will need somebody to help me manage the CityKarting relationship.

Certainly Michelin have only themselves to blame for the reputational damage. Bridgestone tended to be a little more conservative since their Firestone problems a few years back.

But I thought more could have been done to salvage the bad situation – and avoided the farce we saw on Sunday. Certainly as James Allen said, we are all missing the bigger picture.

Alas, I am the only speed freak in the family. My sons (9 & 6 yrs old) have yet to show any interest in anything other than the slash and bash PS2 type activities. So far, racing (even on the PS2) is far from their minds. *sigh*
Steward, we all should really say thanks to you and others (wish i knew their names)who has done all the very hard work (some more no allowance ) unselfishly. As a result, most if not all had their fun filled weekened. The 5 secs flag off for each team (Rally style) in order of the heaviest first and the lightest last is a brilliant solution yet. This also made it easier to monitor as the race progresses as the weight penalties has been dealt with at the start of the race.

Well, some has already asked about the 3rd MME at the end of the race. So when ahh?
Yes agreed. A heartfelt thank you goes to Steward and all others who helped out. Sorry for not being able to be there, but it looked like an incredibly fun event. Good call on the 5sec starting delays.

I noted that some issues with regards to the timing system etc. Will need to find a way to resolve this to make it as smooth as possible.

So 3rd MME of 2005? What about Saturday 17th September? This will be 2 weeks after our round 8 race. Furthermore, no long holidays or school holidays (which is actually 20-28 Aug).

Also, let’s finish the year with a final team enduro. I would like this to be a big party on Saturday 3rd December. Will want to start promoting this to all to form:

car teams (eg. BMW, Alfa, Satria GTi etc)

car forum teams (eg. ZTH, Drift.com.my, Wise auto)

blue-chip company teams (Shell, Petronas, Telekom, Maxis)

and the regular myKART teams
So… how?
