Member
pasir gudang? why? can race at sepang ; better track, better facilities, can hold more spectators.
Didn’t check the website, but why not. I had the impression that Bernie would not allow other single seater (except junior) category to race at F1 tracks, for fear of direct comparison.
But I guess A1GP is fairly junior… so no issue.

Member

Wai Leong metioned that 12Kg is 0.7secs on a 100cc karts is i’m not mistaken. Slower karts like 80cc should do close to 1 full second logically……..
There’s no real benchmark for rental karts here.
Well, i guess we could do a drag test of different weight to test it out….
But a drag test would only show on one part of the track. And there are many corners in a single lap.

Member
But lucky from this years onwards, there is A1 GP….
You are right. I think the Dubai prince got it right with the A1GP formula… race during the winter months, go to places F1 doesn’t go and race as national teams. Quite a good idea, but let’s see how they execute it… and hopefully, we get TV coverage… I wonder if they will race at Pasir Gudang or something?

Member
as my weight 95kg,normally try not to brake, just depress the acclerate before the corner but something find it too fast, also as we using rental karts, really many different between the karts brake!
I understand what you mean bro. Just try to also avoid from skidding too much when you exit the corner. The only snag of this technique is that you may have to lift off the throttle earlier than a person who brakes late… but I guess you may compensate by skidding INTO the corner, thus scrubbing off speed.

Good for you bro!
But watch out for the folks like Razmyn, Michael who will offer to treat you to loads of oily roti canai. *lol*

webber is good… might see him make an impact in melb later… just watch…fazz.. whos the k2 driver with jacques helmet design?…
I somehow cannot warm up to Webber. I prefer Irvine than him.
Khairul Hizam or his brother Sharul Asraf uses the Jacques replica helmet.

bmFive – you da man!! I’ve missed the ’00 and ’04 races. On occassion, managed to get myself free tickets. Last year was waiting waiting and waiting… but alas no free tickets. This time buy atas bukit.

Member
there was one year, ’01, where south side of the circuit was raining, but north was dry, and we were at k2 hillstand, it was dry.we could see the water trails from the cars at the main straight!! best race to me,where both ferrari’s spun, pitted for intermediates, and started overtaking to finish a 1-2.
Yeah! I was one of the hillstands -can’t remember, perhaps Munib & my bros could refresh me- we saw the two Ferraris slithering off the race track, and boy was I so incredibly happy!!! Yahooo!!, but then Schumi is a man who luck seems to frequently favour, and he non-chalantly tiptoed his way across the gravel and back into the bloody track!!! Booo hooo!!!
The biggest buggerring I got (and Latok, no funny ideas), was helplessly watching the Ferraris on superior intermediates scythe through the field and clinch a one two!! Bugger bugger bugger!!
parking is a nightmare though…. unless u r lucky enough to get PA1. other than that, since hillstands(except k2) are the other end, gonna be a long queue when u come out. k2 boring la, only can see the cars accelerate.
Would suggest that if anybody here is going that you carpool. Better laar.

Member
don’t worry bro, it will not trouble me if to bring small setup system, it just a small type Amplifier (u can attached your notebook & support 2 mic) and a pair of medium size speakers which can easily occupied half of my back “sagaburuk’ bonet but the problem is kalau I tak dapat attend the race…
Thanks for the support here. Don’t worry, it is not mandatory if it is inconvenient for you. btw, you doing any event support work with your PA set?
Hi Fazz,
I think the best is ask citykarting to sponsor a loud hailer for MyKart….I think shouldn’t be a problem to them for this item or else Mykart member top up some money to get one!
Should not a be a problem for CityKarting to provide PA… only question is how quickly. It would be good to have a PA system for our next few rounds, but not that critical. But would be good to have this once we start getting sponsors in.

MemberRace fee would I guess depend on the prizes. The PanGlobal AlexYoong F1 driver search charged RM100 per driver for one assured 8 lap race… and if you are lucky (or good.. *grin*), you get another 8 lap race. And if you qualify, you get one more in the GrandFinals.
That is about RM33 per race. Currently CityKarting charges myKART RM80 for 3 assured races. Only different, PanGlobal has a carrot at the end of the year of a chance to test drive the Formula BMW Asia car… which lucky people like Shahrul Asraf, and Joon Hiang from myKART managed to do.
So, if we can get an attractice prize (say a Panasonic HiFi set – Alvin J, hint hint wink wink)… I believe many would not mind paying RM100 to RM150 for an enduro which gives them 20mins track time.

MemberA bit more explanation… assuming that each race including grid formation, 8-lap race, changeover, tinkering would take 20 minutes. This whole event would take (15 races x 20 mins) 5 hours.
If we include (say) 2 hours for registration, weighing in, ballotting and briefing, we will need 7 hours. So if we start at 0730hrs, we should finish at 1430hrs in time for lunch.
Of course, the duration would be less if we have fewer teams (10 teams, means 10 races).

Member
But as an additional option, I was wondering if something like our normal sprint races would work… but with slight modifications to throw in the team element. I can go on in detail on this if you want?
Let me explain on this alternative option to the usual enduro.
Say, these are some assumptions:

each team sends 6 drivers (minimum total weight of 70kgs x 6 drivers)

we have 15 teams (thus, total of 90 drivers)

say, Citykarting can provide 12 karts in each race

each driver should drive twice – that means 15 races total of 8 laps each (10 minutes)
We ballot the teams and set the grid position and kart numbers for the races… Each team would be assigned a grid position for each race as follows:
[CSV spacing=1]
Grid,Kart nos.,Race 1,Race 2,Race 3,Race 4,Race 5,Race 6,Race 7,Race 8,Race 9,Race 10,Race 11,Race 12,Race 13,Race 14,Race 15
p1,3,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M,N,O
p2,10,O,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M,N
p3,6,N,O,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M
p4,5,M,N,O,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L
p5,8,L,M,N,O,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K
p6,12,K,L,M,N,O,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J
p7,30,K,L,M,N,O,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J
p8,33,L,M,N,O,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K
p9,2,M,N,O,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L
p10,1,N,O,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M
p11,7,O,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M,N
p12,41,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M,N,O
[/CSV]Thus each team will decide on strategy for which 2 drivers to be slotted into the respective races.
Team scores will be given for each position in each race, and hence the winning team will be the team that accumulates the most points.
Points per position including podium bonus:
