Anybody have any views about the next myKART Mega Enduro?

I have a conundrum: judging from previous enduro and on going 2005 KART series response, we may potentially have more than 60 drivers keen to participate in the next enduro and potentially 70 drivers by the last enduro of the year!

Anything more than 4 drivers per team I think is too messy. So assuming we limit to max 4 per team… then we will have 15 to 18 teams, but Citykarting can only run max 12 x 80cc karts as for now.

So we may have to split the 15/18 teams into 2 groups.

This is not ideal as enduro races depend on distance covered within the same timeframe… but track and kart conditions at differnt times of the day can result in a significant difference in performance and hence distance covered.

Not keen on having a sprint race to decide the overall enduro champion, so we need a way to rank teams as fairly as possible.

    Any thoughts?

Jules – wrong thread indeed! ha ha.

if myKART can get a wealthy patron to support us then we may consider basing our club at that track (with a few modifications)… *grin*

    quite funny… *lol*

although a bit racist, I must say. of course there have been different versions flying thru the net… one that I saw was attributed to the London inner city kids.

Jules – as always gives a true voice of reason.

Personally, like Jules, I’ve always preferred the approach of settling disputes in a gentlemanly way. I would not want to step in as judge and jury, nor do I want to place such responsibility on somebody else’s shoulder.

However, on occassion we may find members who are involved in such incidents not having the grace to admit their faults. So when incidents happen, it would be very difficult for those involved to want to settle the matter amicably… so I believe there is a need to explore ways to manage this.

Racing is often plagued with people with big egos, and amateur rental karting does not seem to be any different. Thankfully such big egos in myKART are manageable *wink*.

Having observers should be just that… they should only observe and objectively report what they saw in their own eyes. I do not wish them to pass judgement… (having said that, this is easier said than done). There’s always two sides of the coin in any racing incident, so at the end of the day it is back down to the individuals involved to admit the error of their ways. So a trial of this observer role is perhaps prudent.

This is one topic I shall raise in the next driver briefing. Anyway, I still believe that myKARTers are in general good sports. So I would prefer to leave it to all of you guys to conduct yourselves in such spirit.

    Cheers!

Actually reality TV is a good way of promoting anything. People like the prospect of personal rivalry and chemistry.

I guess this is also why F1 is so successful. It has over the past few years sold itself as a battle between a few fiercely competitive people. I think things really took off during the Mansell v Piquet days. Then there was the Senna v Prost, and then Senna v Mansell and Senna v Schumi, Schumi v Hill, Schumi v Villeneuve and Schumi v Hakkinen.

Now the interest is building up to see who can beat Schumi. And the general public is thirsty for any off track rivalries as well.

    Other sports are no different.
Last year the track was already up for sale / takeover. City Karting was offered too. Since Fairuz left karting to do F3/F3000, seems that Mofaz not keen on karting anymore.
Any news on who’s buying the Elite track?

I was wondering whether it was wise for Jordan to get two rookies to drive their cars. It is bad enough that Jordan seems to be moving backwards… thus it seems that the choice of drivers were purely financially motivated.

I don’t expect much from him… the circumstances are not ideal and Kartikeyan is looking at a very steep learning curve.

But let’s hope that he will pave the way for much better youngsters from the sub-continent and from Asia in general.

Yu Jin – didn’t notice the MIR boots. He was in K2 wearing the grey T-shirt.

Since this thread is getting out of topic, why don’t you guys set up a date for the winter testing? Send out a note via the mailing list and get response on this forum? Btw, I’ve created another thread precisely for CNY / AM winter testing… http://my-kart.org/web/index.php?q=node/131

Wai Leong can be the bad guy judge… *lol*

Anyway – I believe that if myKART were any sort of reality show… it would not be in any way like the “Idols”…. voting is not appropriate.

But if you film the whole myKART season (take interviews with drivers) and offer a big prize at the end, then you’d get some sort of reality TV. But hey… that’s something else. We should just concentrate on the racing…. 🙂

Agreed about the pictures. Will need to figure how to put pictures in the member profile. You any good with PHP and mySQL?

Speaking of pictures… could you send me a digital picture of yourself in race suit… wanna put this in the race report. 🙂

btw – I posted a private message (PM) to you on the same subject… you just click on “view inbox (1)” link on the right menu.
