To help Citykarting to improve the kart conditions, we need to provide a checklist of feedback to them to work on. In order for that to happen, we need the help of the karters to fill up the checklist of the kart they raced on after each race.
I am very keen to see this work in reality……but based on my experience with rental kart operators, I see this as difficult.
In any case, you can initiate this and see if it helps!

Participant
The fiasco in the K3 Heat 1 lap chart recording is somehow directly related to the spare karts availability. Some of the karts are practically not in ideal running condition and the karters changed the kart before the race or during the race without informing the marshals somehow confused the lap charter and that resulted in the delay of starting the final race as race positions need to be sorted out slowly.
To avoid such confusion in the future, we will need 1 marshal at the pit to oversee the changing of karts and record the change of kart. The record to be provided to the lap charter at the end of the race.
At the start/finish line, a minimum of 3 marshals shall be available. 1 marshal to record the kart positions on each lap, 1 marshal to read out the kart number to lap charter marshal & 1 marshal to change the lap display + to look out for any distress kart + waving of chequred flag.
I think anyone who changed karts should have the courtesy to inform someone at hand to ensure the lap scorers are informed – THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, at least as I see it! Mykart works with volunteers, not slaves……everyone please tow in line!

ParticipantBy the way, 1st race is NEXT WEEKEND – 12th March at ELITE.
Come & see for yourself!
Cheers!

Participant
WhoA!!! RM950!! Per day practice/RACE… Expensive oooo..
good initiative though… but I really think it’s quite too rich for me..
If you count the sums carefully – this is actually quite affordable cos the organisers is subsiding your engine purchase at the end of day…like a hire purchase without the initial cash outflow in ONE go!
The engine brand new is about RM5500…do your sums and u pay some additional money after 6 rounds for a freshly factory rebuilt unit which you own yourself…..
Btw, this engine is far better than those we saw at Rosedi as it has a brand new clutch system, electric start system w battery all included.. Rosedi one is direct drive, I think.
They tested 1600km recently on 2 engines with little wear – all part of R&D by the Yamaha factory with RL doing the running.( 3 day super test, by 6 drivers )
This is honestly a very good entry class for hobbist karters who want an excellent entry class to karting.
Come tomorrow and meet Aaron.
Jules
ParticipantQUICK UPDATE….
A few places for the CADET class driver are still available!!!
YOU PAY NOTHING FOR THE ENGINE HIRE…..just bring your chassis, pay for tyres and entry fees and RACE!!!!
FATHERs, take note of this “alomost” FOC racing offer.
Hurry!
Jules
Participantyes, there are differences but let’s start a new technical thread on this-lar….not to clutter this thread which dedciated to the Yamaha.
To sum it quick for you…..it’s not so much the engine specific for kart, it’s more tyre grip to the chassis design ( tube diameters..as one clue ). Tonykart made to ROK? – dun think so except the two company has same owners…..
Jules
ParticipantKaaz38,
Interesting idea of sharing a kart! Engine tuning mainly done by organisers….can assist on chassis tuning to anyone keen.
Anyway Aaron will meet us on this Sat after our mykart race – do come at join us and share some ideas.
All of you are invited…shah alam kart track, say around 12:30pm.
Jules
ParticipantKaaz38,
Thank goodness we are now on the right track again. If you are offended by my “question” – then accept my apologies.
Before the thread got out of hand ( in my view ), I posted my comments based on the frustrations I experienced as amateur karter in 2000/01. ( hence the “I”, “I” & the PP “theme” ) In hindsight, yes – it would be more productive if I got more PP drivers to sign on the letter but time was very limited to get any petition up to KKS. Captain was the only backer since I already communicate with him by mail on regular basis before this episode, therefore the automatic association with him. I am aware he imported Comer into Singapore but nevertheless a backer is better than none – chopstick theory mah. I wrote in good faith, as a KKS member, private karter and nothing else – as you are fully aware.
At the end, I did not even get any reply from PD for my letter and in less than a month and if my memory is correct, a mail from PD early Dec announced the canning. Like most, I went to 125 out of necessity and racing was then out of reach….esp with YGK/DAM tyres costing RM550 per set! ( again controlled by factions..& later Kobe earthquake! )
Bringing it back to the topic of commercialism & sport – yes, I agree that it should never mix as history has already proved before that, it’s the surest way to spoil those involved rotten – football, badminton etc. In karting, those with commercial interest is fighting over a very small pool of karters in Malaysia which happens to this day – a very sad thing, a result from their narrowmindedness.
Kaaz38, as an individual – we cannot make these factions take note BUT as a group, we can. This is where MyKart comes in and the reason why all of us are here. Already, the rental operators are taking note of our existence and so does some other industry players…..AAM will as well which be an issue we have to address.
In my opinion & take it as a suggestion – for these factions to take us more seriously, we have to get involved in club racing as well and the Yamaha is a good step forward, hence my active promotion of it here, returning RL Racing the favour for their help to me during my karting infancy days.
In fact, Aaron called just now and we are arranging a meet AFTER the MyKart race this Sat. All is welcome to hear and see what’s the racing all about, plus some other possibilities on kart rentals. Location : City Karting but this can go elsewhere later…
MRF tyres is good thing KKS did and the new compound is good too. Price is yes, excellent since its Indian made but no diff to the Taiwan “Challenger” ones – hence I have no qualms in using them. On a PP? sigh, if we can only turn back time.
Naza, I would try contacting KKS and ask who u can buy them from. Otherwise Wai Leong should also know.
I am passionate about my karting, which could rub over unitentionally to my style of writing/rambling/replying – therefore my apologies again if anyone is griefed.
Cheers,
Jules
Participant
Still, he is probably the best Malaysia has for the moment though I think you will find most of the City Karting kart team would beat him hands down in a 125cc kart! Jules, what do you think? I think even Uncle Jules can beat him in a 125cc kart race!!!!!
Alex is a good driver, just that his background was not karts and hence maybe he is less comfortable with it. OSF, u think too highly of me – I stand no chance as I was profusely reminded of my lack of racing licence, kart prix experience etc etc.
Who I want to see in F1? Our young drivers like Aaron, Calvin Wong, Jazeman and many other hopefuls.
Out of Malaysia – Rossi comes to my mind immediately.
I also wish Wai Leong had a chance too but he is sadly past his prime.
Jules
ParticipantThanks for pointers & reminders…now u do sound like someone I know. no. 38? I will appoint u 2 be my secretary when I go into politics but first, say it to Richard’s face – do it!
Cheers.
Jules
ParticipantMr Chiew C.K. aka Kaaz38,
I think your replies have gone a bit personal and that’s not necessary especially if you dun even have the courtesy to identify yourself personally to us. But since u wanted to question me, here’s my answers!
Ken Foo is a good driver, he won fair & square – no shame in losing to him and till today, he remains a friend. Some of us raced with Club Championship in mind, and keep our pride/emotions in check.. esp the last race of season….2nd ain’t bad rite? Maybe not to you.
To your question who has spent mega bucks on Kart Prix events – maybe I minced my words but I meant for all classes, that is possible hence mega buck for those races. Actually, I know a fellow racer who scrutinised 2 engines for even the PP class Kart Prix events… No need to mention names.
True, Aaron is 1.5 seconds faster ( & more ) on anything he drives versus the old hack like me – that’s not an issue for me cos my agenda in this sports is for pleasure. He is trying to make a career and his extensive racing knowledge/experience plus youth is the difference.
I dun practise Sat before a Sun race cos I have a young family and cannot take time off for my hobby…..which is true to this day! Why should I pull ur leg? – you sure dun sound like a woman to me!
A heat’s to me is a pre-final to you….more kms, more wear & tear or u dun agree? Wear on driver’s too by the way…
As you will know Comer makes karts and engines as well – so ur idea of poor quality is well, uncertain. As said Daniel drove modded PPs, which is legal for J class. Could this be reason for his seizures? You know better? or r u telling me Uncle Richard has no clue how to prepare race engines? Tell that to his face, please – I want to see this.
I take the effort to post the Championship details up, personally e-mail the sponsorship material to those who asked – attest my support to Championship and my personal support to Aaron & Uncle Richard ( who I hold high in esteem ). I was invited to test drive at the launch Sunday but had family plans.( but u can ask Aaron since u likely know him too )
As said, I was merely pointing out history on how PP was canned by commercial interest ( note I never said KKS alone nor mention Paul David’s name but u did.. ) and hope they make good this Yamaha championship – for EVERYONE’s sake.
Posting this Q to you honestly – Now what did u really do for the Yamaha Championship besides telling us how much you think u know about PP inferior quality & who’s who in PP class 2001? Dod u go for the launch? post if u did!
If my comments and frankness is irrating you – please refrain from reading the thread.
For the rest of My Kart members & my friends – Thank you for reading but my sincere apologies and I find the last few replies SO UNNECCESSARY ( mine included ) At least u got a glimpse of my poor racing record….:) and I wun have any hope in kart racing, even Yamahas – no money & talent ( as last year’s MyKart results will tell you again..)
Anyhow I wish Yamaha well – sincerely!
Jules
ParticipantFully Agreed this is not the place to discuss this…
