I believe helmets could be cheaper in Singapore and have more choices too.

I was told to go to Ah Boy’s place at Jalan Mustapha (off Serangoon Road) or something like that (Alex McNab should know the place) but I believe that place mostly sells bike helmets.

What about the approved type of helmets for car racing use?
To my teammates in 2006, thanks for the great effort in positioning Team NOVICE in such a high overall finishing of 4th overall finishing and even giving Tail Happy Racing a fight for the 3rd overall placing is already a wonderful achievement.

Team NOVICE might go into a temporary change of management for the year of 2007 or go off the radar permanently.

More development news to be revealed in the next 2 weeks.

Cons, CK most likely will not take this proposal
That’s very true.

Wonder how’s Raja Razman’s deal coming thru?
Individual does not need to own a kart like RM8000 ~RM9000 for a start just to have a little advantage of track time for practice and setting.
Like I mentioned earlier, personally it is the satisfaction. But if pockets are not that deep, don’t venture into this territory oh.

Personally for me, I can’t afford to do both K1 & K2. My wife almost had a seizure when she found out how much I paid for the K1 event last Sat..and obviously that night we had a nice dinner outing in a nice restaurant to appease her!
haha Saa73, sama sama. Took my wife dinner outing she asked about the cost for this round, I just kept diverting the conversation. hahaha

They say with that kind of money, they can buy small diamond earrings (to me it is just stone only what!) or nice leather handbags. Betul tak bpk Naza?
agree partially. This round we were discounted off the technical team support fees where they usually charge RM180. Actual cost will be 180 + 280 = RM460 for rental kart for next round with tire.
Don’t quite get you there.

Yup, it is true that we got special discount for the technical team support for this round.

For private karts, say that we have paid RM280/- for the tires in the 1st round, we don’t have to pay for the tires in the 2nd round, then the cost should be RM180/- only + rental of transponders (if required) in the 2nd round.

    => RM280 + (RM180 x 2) = RM640 / 2 = RM320/- per race. Personally, I find this pricing is acceptable to race your own kart. It is very much expensive outside.

For rental or leased karts, it is much more complicated.
Bare in mind the testing and setting at drivers’ own costs. From battery, plugs down to every single bolts and nuts, those are absolutely hidden.. I have just spent RM1100 for kart preparation and RM330 for race day tires, total of RM1430. Yet kart not as competitive as “rental” so called. Comparing to one time RM500 charges is very much depending on ones individual’s view.
Yup, this where it would kill the private owners.

No choice mah, to stay competitive, you have to foot the bill loh. Or not why bother buying your own kart.

    Of course, $$$ talks.

To me, it is the satisfaction of setting up my own kart, stripping the carbs, polishing it, setting up the chassis, put in practise hours and get to the race.

If still end up last , then it is back to the drawing board to find out the reason. Kart problem? or driver problem?

If rental kart, then the above couldn’t be done.
yeap agree, something like Hire purchase at the end of the series that kart belongs to the driver.

    This is what we hope.

Frankly, I find to participate in K1, the best is to own your own kart.
With your own kart, you could test, test and test & set the kart up to your liking & driving style to be competitive. Not so with rental kart, the mechanics just turn back to you and say it is like that one mah and you can’t argue too much.
If you own the kart and the mechanic treats you like that, I’ll pull out from that operator and go to another operator.
the price is expensive if we need to buy the tire..but going to use it only once. if on not mistaken, the rental kart is about rm500 rite. but for own kart only rm 330

    ok let see,
    track rental rm 50
    tire rm 280
    kart rental is rm 170

if you recalculate the cost its not that expensive. the tire we are using can be use again for at least 20 races. meaning for rental kart you guys only pay rm170. and K2 you guys pay is around rm150? so i feel its not much different. so next race we dont have to buy the tire… amacam?

    just my 1 cent

Don’t Just DRive IT, fEEL it!!!
The tires are supposed to be used for 2 race weekends. But the kart rental subject is the one subject that might kill the series.
btw, the price we got for this round is special price.
i foresee the K1 races may occur less frequently than K2/k3 – I think we mentioned 6 races in the year, ie once every 2 months (so our budget don’t koyak as well!!), but we should maintain the K2 for K3 racers to promote to and gain experience.

So, what may happen is that the majority of current K2 drivers may opt out of K2 to focus on K1, while some may do both, and we get new blood into K2?

Personally for me, I can’t afford to do both K1 & K2. My wife almost had a seizure when she found out how much I paid for the K1 event last Sat..and obviously that night we had a nice dinner outing in a nice restaurant to appease her!

So, I’m thinking…maintain K2 & K3 as-is, and K1 events will occur every 2 months, either attached to the usual K2/K3 races, or separate?

    What do you think folks?
In my personal view, I say not more than 4 times a year for a start. My wife will go into a fit if she knew the amount I paid for last week.

Bear in mind that the current rental rate is a special offer by CK for this one off event. You would probably not get this rental rate in the future events.

Personally, I find K1 should be for social karters with own kart. Paying BIG XXX amount of money and not anything back at the end of the year is bad deal. As we have discussed with Raja Razman and even with AP, we hope the operators are willing to lease out the karts to us and we pay for the kart monthly and at the end of the day, the individual kart belongs to each individual.

The event could be held separately or incorporate into my-KART series but the point scoring system need to be changed. Let’s say we hold 3 K1 races in the year series, the K2 series should consider only the best 7 scores of the season as some of the K2 drivers might go to K1.

Depending on the race schedules, I believe we should hold a Grand Finale again next year with K3, K1 with 80cc Endurance thrown-in and Tangerine models to grace our event again.
