1 set of new Apexis 65 tyresThe tyres you be using will be a shock to most of you. No grip on braking, no grip on acceleration. Hence the 15min practise is important.
Btw, to get a timing for qualifying, you need transponder which I hope is included in pricing.

Tried out the MW/Rotax Max with Apexis 65 tyres today.
Verdict : OMG! Where’s the grip?
There is so much power on the kart but not much grip and you are practically playing drifting on the parabolic! It’s going to be a field day for the video filmers.
Yup, transponders will be provided for the 125cc & 80cc endurance karts.

Participant
Guys, looks like the biggest obstable to Alvin is his father. How many F1 and F3 drivers got to where they are without parental support? See how supportive Jenson Button’s dad is? How about our own Alex Yoong and Hanifah Yoong?
Without that, you won’t go far in karting except recreational racers like 99.9% of MyKarters. By the time we make enough money to go serious racing (if ever), we are way pass the prime.
You hit the nail right on the head, OSF.
If I had this oppportunity like what my-KART is doing right now 20 over years ago, I’m very sure my father will be very supportive of my participation but not much on financial though. 🙁
Alvin, you should consider furthering your studies in KL/PJ/Cyberjaya. You should experience more of life, go after girls, get drunk with your chums. Life without racing ain’t that bad. Look at Azlan, he is happy munching away at races and taking pics of girls. Racing is just a distraction for him :p hehe

Hey, in my younger days, I always dream of being a single seater or rally driver but alas, all that is just a dream as I don’t have a golden mountain.Correct me if I’m wrong, as Alvin is already about twenty, chances of getting a break into sponsored single seater will be just a dream. For that you have to start from very young age unless you are planning to go into saloon car racing. That you have no age limit but depending on how far your financial standing can go.
So for now, all you can do is finish your studies, get good results and start your rat race in the corporate world or better still start your own business.
With the dough that you have made, you can kart, race saloon cars or indulge in any motorsport that you like unless you get married early and the home minister don’t give a toot what motorsport is all about.(my home minister hmmmmrrrpppphhhh me when I say I have a race this 2 Dec 06)
Take your time, don’t be discouraged just becos your dad don’t allow you to race now. The time will come, take karting as a hobby to practise your reflexes for bigger motoring sports.
If cannot wait, then earn some money in your spare time or semester break, then come and join us.

Next time you come down to KL, ask someone to take you to the real dangerous place (which is not Shah Alam)
Any city is dangerous Alvin. If you consider Shah Alam very dangerous, then you couldn’t survive in KL, PJ, JB or even Geogetown Penang. Needless to say NY, or even Batam!
Not that I’m asking you to leave your family, you might have to leave your family for further studies or for a career one day. The world outside is very different then you what you are getting at home.
Outside, you have to find your own way to cari makan, live within your own budget unlike now where you have meals prepared for you every evening.Nohad
Participant

The reason for the slightly extended laps is because I expect some drivers COULD be lapped and these will drive one lap less.
I assumed you’ll lap every one of them since most of us saw you FLYING on your practice session…really buaya la this jules…
I already know I’m going to be one of them.
Jules trying a stint just like what Nico of Team Germany did to the rest of the field!

Participant
Patrick,
I suggest 10laps for Heat 1 & 2…..
and for Finals, 12 laps
This is confirmed.
My suggestion is as follows :
1) Get a 15min slot to do a WARM UP and also Qualifying combo…..which mean you get the chance to try the kart and also post a lap time for grid of heat 1
2) Heat 1 grid determined by qualifying.
3) Heat 2 grid determined by Heat 1 finish.
4) Finals grid determine by heat 1 & 2 finishing order ( point format )
I dun agree to normal MyKart reverse grid order cos of safety.
The tyres you be using will be a shock to most of you. No grip on braking, no grip on acceleration. Hence the 15min practise is important.
No objection to this format but need to re-confirm with CK regarding the transponders.
But I know the transponders will be used during the 80cc endurance.

Participant
1) on ur dad, yes – take his advice and study cos karting is not for you. Do it once you get a profession, earn your own money, you will enjoy it more.
Jules is right on this.
Motorsport is NOT a cheap sport. I know the burning desire to kart is in you but when you don’t have any money (as you still relying on your dad, I believe) to indulge in a game that you desire so much, it is in a very difficult situation. (Espeacially if you don’t have a petrolhead family support).
Get a part-time job during your breaks, earn some money and come over to enjoy yourself then you dad couldn’t complain so much because you are enjoying yourself on your own money. He might even respect you more as he could see that determination in you to succeed what you want to do. “When there’s a will, there’s a way”
There no age barrier to indulge in motorsport unless you are planning to go into it professionally where you have to start at it at a very young age.
Mind you my friend, I love motorsport racing so much since at a very young age and I only got into real life racing at the age of 40 (due to lack of opporturnity & finance). (Mat Rempit time many moons ago don’t count)

2007 Holidays
Feb 1 Wilayah/Thaipusam
Feb 3 might face a possibility of low turn-out due to the proximity of Feb 1 holiday, where klang valley folks might take an extended long weekend by taking Feb 2 off.
I can see Fazz smiling already!
