Participant
Brake early until you’ll comfortable with your machine. Not all karting machines there are perfect. Slow in, fast out.
Remember, make yourself comfortable and dont spend too much time on the brakes too long or else you’ll lose time and position.
Sabelt is right here, not all the machines there are with the same handling characteristic. You just have to the learn the kart characteristic and adjust from there. Some karts with good handling doesn’t need much brakes. Kart which oversteers a lot need to have the brakes to control the kart thru the corners with a little throttle input. With understeer, you need to brake earlier.
Your braking point will start to improve as you clock more mileage. In other words, you just have to “Pay to learn” by having more practise session at the track = more experience. 😀
On a good 80cc kart, you basically need to use the brakes the most at 2 locations only.
Clockwise direction :
Very light dab of brakes with lots of throttle control at turn 1 and the hairpin at the end of the parabolic.Anti-clockwise :
1st right hairpin after the start/finish straight and the turn just after the long straight. On 100cc, it’s a different kettle of fish! The lines are basically the same but the braking points and throttle input is different due to higher speed.
It is flat out throttle on 80cc but you have to be a little gentle with the throttle (controlling it) with 100cc.I believe the difference is the same as taking stock standard Proton Wira 1.3, 1.6 & 1.8 DOHC out on a spin at Sepang North track. Same chassis but different character due to engine power.
This is Luen’s department to explain it to you further as he is the SIFU in 4Gtuners.com.Nohad
Participantbrakes on 80cc? what brakes?

1. One of the problem is that I can’t found any reference point at the track. At other track for example, we can use pole, marshal post as reference point for braking and turning. At Shah Alam track, we can’t see any of these. So, how do you all find your reference points?
Just need to spend a little more time running at the track and you will get familiar with the refernce points.
2. One of karts I was using is quite “bumpy”. It was moving up and down and it tends to move away from the apex. My worst timing on this kart is 1m 35s and my best is 1m 30s. Guess that if I do come for my-kart race, i have a lot of work to do to improve my driving.
Just luck, some of the karts are kind of crap but what to do, those are rental karts.
As mentioned earlier, practise makes perfect. Your time will start to improve when you have more kilometers under your belt.
3. Nohad told me my-kart races use rolling start and the races alternate from clockwise and anticlockwise track. Is there anymore details I should know?
I believe rolling start is fairer to all as some of the karts have no pick-up at all and starnding start is a disadvantage to heavy drivers like me too.
But the drivers need to be a little bit more discipline in rolling start in order to stay in their starting position and keep pace with the leading cars before the start.Nohad

Participant
But, what about going back to Puduraya? Is it difficult to get a taxi? How long should I wait for a taxi?
As long as you get your butt to the track this saturday, there are 1001 ways to get back to Puduraya.
No worries!Nohad
Participant
Participant
can try ktm commuter also, from kl to batu3 stn. then just take a cab to the circuit from batu3 stn.
Don’t think it is easy to catch a taxi (not many) from that station early sat morning.
Easier to catch a taxi at Subang station but need to work out a bargain first before boarding.

ParticipantJust to go there for look see look see or joining my-kart series?
If coming for my-kart series, then you need the fastest way to get there as you will be required to be there early! But being a saturday, traffic is no problem.
visit http://www.citykarting.com for direction.
or you can check the location and direction from google earth.
a. LRT
– which LRT to use? (Star or Putra)
-which station to which station?
-after the station, use which bus to get to the track?
-the frequency of the bus service?
-the fares
-roughly the duration of journey from Puduraya to track (hours)Get down to Masjid Jamek station, take Putra LRT to the Kelana Jaya station. Get a taxi from there to Shah Alam stadium. (it might be difficult to get a taxi to Shah Alam)
Duration?
A long consuming timeb.Taxi
-which taxi?
-the frequency of the taxi service? (Is it easy to get a taxi at the track?)
-the fares
-roughly the duration of journey from Puduraya to track (hours)Fast but could be a little costly. Expect around RM25/- from Puduraya.
c.Public Bus
-which bus (the bus number)
-the frequency of the bus service? (How long does it take for the next bus to come both at Puduraya and at the track?)
-the fares?
-roughly the duration of journey from Puduraya to track (hours)Huh? No idea at all.
d.Personal Transport
-Is Federal Highway best way to get to the track?
-What are the toll fees at Subang toll and other tolls I am encounter? The best way to get there. Depending on which way you are coming from (eg. KL town, Damansara or straight from Taiping)
If coming from KL, the federal highway is clear on saturday early morning. The toll at Batu Tiga is RM1.10/-. After paying the toll, keep to the left and go up the ramp to the batu tiga / CSR flyover. Turn right at the ramp toward TTDI Jaya, Bkt Jelutong, Monterrez direction. After the lights after the flyover, turn left at the next lights towards MAKRO + stadium and go up the slight gradient after Makro and make a U-turn at the roundabout halfway up the hill and turn left 50m after the U-turn and go downhill and VOILA! you are there.

Participant
they can only enter provided they have Pan Global insurance policy.
Geez, was their customer until end of last year.
Went to renew the policy the day before Deeparaya but their customer service was closed and I’m forced to purchase AM Insurance.
So now how to participate?
