Also, admin wise, we should allow the appointed officials to make the bookings – ie one of the committee members should be responsible for this..I believe there’s an “Events” or “technical” post..right, Naza?
At the moment, Luen’s scope covers “event” and I have volunteered to closely support him (for no reason, I like Luen la..hehehe 🙂 but the Technical matters is under our sifu Jules, if I am not wrong. Now that we have elected the club’s main committee, the first Main Committee meeting will have to convene soon within a month from 28th April 07 as the Sports Commissioner will expect the first report or face a summon…aiyoh, tough la these guys!

Participant

Perhaps a discount can be given for MyKart members who commit to the CRG/PRD for an X number of races (prepaid scheme)? Say RM220 for 3 races prepaid and RM200 for 5 races prepaid. This would help in getting the minimum numbers required.
good idea. would put this as part of the deal.
..Dude!..an excellent idea…saya sokong. :up:naza
Participant
interesting 2 drivers per team as dicussed before. Team principal sponsor 2 teams format.
2 drivers format
================
5 minutes sprint race for grid position with 1 driver, 55 minutes for endurace race of 2 drivers. Each driver will at least 15 minutes drive time, with no pit stop limitation. Pit opens at first 15 minutes and close at last 15 minutes. Any team misses pit window will penalised.
Reason being, tean principal will have the right to impose race stategy of which team to pit first and which to stay out. Minimize pitting times will also shows the real endurance race for both drivers karts, stategy and team work.
3 dirvers format
================
As mentioned above by Bro Naza. 20 minutes sprint race deciding team grid position for endurance race. 40 minutes enurance race of 2 drivers with at leat 15 minutes drive time. Pit window opens at first 15 minutes and close at last 15 minutes with no pitting time limitation. Any team misses pit windows will be penalised. We need to decide the number of drivers per team ASAP. My vote will goes to 2 drivers format.
I can live with any format.

Participant
…… what happens if we fall short of the 10 karts per race… do we have to top up? running 10 for the enduro might be a little difficult given our experience in our MEGA enduro – which averages 7 teams per enduro round.

We did asked AP about this issue and has not responded yet…we will raise it in the memo to Wan Shin (Luen, please include this matter)naza

reminder: this thread is readable only in my-KART Core…..I would like to restrict this benefit to members only, as this is clearly a deal which you cannot get anywhere (what is the catch, naza?). Also need to ensure that benefits of being a my-kart member is created here.

Agreed. Lets maintain the k2 100cc at current rate as the next progression for k3 drivers to acquire the necessary competency level before jumping to k1. Agree also to run the k1 as an open 125cc event incorporating private 125cc karts which we can decide to sub categorise OR compensate by weight penalties (Luen to lead discussions). What’s the catch?…..this has been bugging me for a while. Quick calculations for 2 years, running 20 x k1 races plus 12 x endurance races will probably net in about 94k. CK’s initial investment for 15 karts at 8k per kart is 120k…..hey! this will not work. Therefore either he’s got his arithmetics wrong or the wily fox has something that we dont understand. First, his initial cost per kart could be lower than the 8 k we had thought. Secondly, he is counting on my-kart to progressively draw in bigger crowds for the k3 and k2 series….maybe.
Anyway, we will know for sure after CK responds to my-kart’s email soon. If it is on, than June 16th will see these nice karts on parade and driven by my-kart’s club members at rm250 (maybe 350 for non-members?….this will really make them realise the benefits enjoyed by members).

Qualifying = 5 mins > Time Trial for Sprint race grid position (any or all drivers can participate and the best lap time taken to determine starting grid for the sprint race.Sprint Race = 20 mins > Team will nominate one driver to race. This race determines your starting grid for the endurance race.
Endurance Race = 40 mins > The reamaining two drivers
very interesting proposition!
Oi! Patrick, coming for rd 5 ah? (alamak…wrong thread :shy: )naza
Participant
hey that will work. sounds great with this format
….Yeah, sounds more interesting….a little nearer ala A1GP format. Lets give it a try shall we? 😎 :up:naza
Participant
ok. i see what you mean. perhaps we can check with amri who has done the 1hr format including practice, qualifying and race.
I gather that Amri’s race was formatted thus:
Qualifying = 5 mins > Time Trial for Sprint race grid position (any or all drivers can participate and the best lap time taken to determine starting grid for the sprint race.
Sprint Race = 20 mins > Team will nominate one driver to race. This race determines your starting grid for the endurance race.
Endurance Race = 40 mins > The reamaining two drivers

Participant
…… and i think she panicked and went straight tru ……..
I might be speculating here but this shows the importance of newbies to have enough track time so that it becomes natural to brake with the left foot. Most of the time we use the right foot for braking in our cars. When you panic, its only the training that could help!

Participant

and i think we should still maintain the k2(100cc) class so that drivers can really master their skills before graduating into 125cc (k1)class, although the price different is not that big in this case and keep in mind we do really need to cherish this fantastic almost brand new karts and not giving it to those in matured drivers.
so i think we should have it like so:
k3-80cc
k2-100cc (prd or yamaha)
k1-125cc (prd, rotax etc..)due to power disadvantage for the PRD, i suggest a weight penalty or different point system.
alright?
i second your idea bro, we should always bear in mind that not all are capable of handling fast kart… so atleast for this year let selected members enjoy this offer, such as official/paying members… i’ll bet more ppl will join myKart once they come to know about this offer
Good points by Tarmizi and Zul. Maintain K2 using rental 100 cc karts as the next step after K3 than to K1 using this exclusive for mykart’s use PRD 125/CRG karts mixing together with private 125cc karts (in other words, scenario B lah!). From my own experience as well as Tarmizi’s, the K1 category experience is an excellent preparation for those joining AAM sanctioned races such as the National level Rotax / ROK / KKS races without the pain of having to fork out too much money. In terms of skill and racecraft level, and without boasting too much, the top 10 – 15 mykarters at K2 and K1 level (including K3 buayas) can already hold their own against so-called national karters (I am not talking about winning yet….its a different chapter!). I say, the Swiss Hutless Racing Team did use the my-kart K1 Rd3 race for practice did’nt they?…..evidence of the reputation my-kart has garnered thus far?Zul, I am not sure about restricting it to just paying members for fear of not holding up the ‘affordable karting’ objective….but my-kart may need to come up with some selection criteria because of the limited number of karts and to verify whether the driver has adequate skills for K1. 🙂

Participant
naza, luen, mizi – i am a little confused… this is to be used for K2 or K1? if K2, wow this is a great deal. naza – appreciate if you can update the main post accordingly for clarity?
Sorry bro, simply put if we accept CK’s conditions, we have the option of using the PRD 125cc / CRG kart to replace the the current 100cc rental karts in K2 OR use it for the K1 category. The scenario could look like so:
SCENARIO A
K3 – 80 cc rental karts
K2 – PRD 125 / CRG karts (exclusive for mykart races)
K1 – Private 125 cc kartsSCENARIO B
K3 – 80 cc rental karts
K2 – 100 cc rental karts
K1 – PRD 125/CRG karts and Private 125 cc kartsEndurance Race – the same PRD 125/CRG as above
We have now the real possibility of replacing the controversial rental K2 100cc karts with the PRD 125 / CRG karts exclusive for mykart races at the same price members are paying currently.
