Participant
Bro naza,
Did you had any difficulties everytime when you wear your OMP formel 4 helmet esp. the chin strap? I had difficulties adjusting it compared to my old one..
The chin strap material is a trifle soft and “smooth”(the material) than my NOLAN helmet. So when you pull to tighten, it is a little bit difficult to estimate how much to stop pulling. Over time, I “learn” how much to tighten and have no other complaints thus far (Tarmizi has no complaints of this nature). Anyway, we can talk more about this on the 4th huh?

ParticipantThe list of drivers not sad at MS departure is not just limited to Webber, I believe many are quite happy to see the 7 times world champ go. In other words, he has extended his welcome. In a highly charged, very competitive sports and where mega stakes are involved, you cannot expect too many sincere friends….although they may look like it (but for something in return). My advice to Herr Schumacher is, dont get too worried about statements such as those from Mr Webber.
The 7 times world champion is after all a mortal and he made mistakes. I am not a fan of MS and his Ferrari outfit but I will still give him a standing ovation.
Team Aliens (Immortals….hehehe).

ParticipantYou may also wanna check with Citykarting….they have lots of seconds of all shape and clours.

Participant
Here’s a quote from an article in e-kmi.com:
We are so worried about quantity that we forget about quality. We work so hard to bring people into the sport, that we completely neglect the education they need to show some success that would justify continued and expanded participation.A racer needs more than just a rule book, insurance and a schedule. The lack of services he/she received now tends to leave a competitor financially, mentally and physically burnt out, leaving the sport after about four seasons. Industry leaders project this turnover at anywhere from 65% to 70% of the participants.
Same thing happens here. The kart shops try real hard to get you to buy a kart, but often what happens after you buy the kart is that you get very little advice on driving, setup, kart maintenance – you probably won’t even get the above quoted rule book and race schedule here until you ask – and then ask again. Some kart shops do an ok job it seems – but usually only for the first few weeks, then it’s focus on the one or two fast guys that buy stuff from you and forget about the new guys. The article is an interesting read. It’s about the US karting industry of course.

You’ve hit the nail squarely on the head again.

Participant

Or could it be too much action (to benefit oneself) without enough planning (talk) to actually make the sport grow rather than individual pockets?
there’s two sides of the coin. my view is lack of coordinated efforts. the market after all is small… but fragmented.
….not meaning to sound negative, motorsports was not listed as the country’s main sports and had never really a comprehensive blueprint to encourage its growth other than that odd KBS championship which which was not widely publicised. Sorry, I am just venting my frustration at this afternoon’s trip to the Sports Commisioner’s office inquiring the status of Kelab myKART Selangor’s application. His answer was, it is in the process of submission to the office of Tan Sri! That was the same answer in July 06. Sorry for deviating a bit folks…………grrr!

Participant

You’re joking, right?
Either that or Jeremy’s joking!
Are they (VAG) out of their minds….?!?
All that money could have been better spent to make cheaper VWs (I love the new Golf MkV GTi… yummm!!!)
story goes that jeremy has had operations to remove his tongue which got stuck to his cheek. apparently it is a chronic disease he suffers from. incurable.
Justice done than! I cannot forgive him for beating to pieces the poor Kelisa and his tongue for using all the negative remarks under the sun. Did you guys saw that video clip?

JAIS forbid karting during puasa month?

Guys, I humbly request that Jais and the puasa month subject be withdrawn from further discussions. Sorry, my fault and I am on my way to face the Board of Inquiry at Aliens HQ.

ParticipantStupendous, marvellous, bravo…….(speechless) to A1TM. Them Canadians have to spoil the Malaysian party with these words:
“He wasn’t alongside me enough to make the pass, he hit me and I spun out.”
Podah!, the whole world saw on TV replayed a few times how he instead have desperately tried to close the gap as he went wide, in so doing hitting Alex’s front wheels!

The pitstop forummer admitted he is already addicted and went a quick round at CK 1 hour before buka puasa yesterday just to lepas geram.
He said he is not too worried about JAIS though! Why? Scared your kart is rusting away or the engine will seize with no lubrication after hanging in the garage for 1 month?
No problem, bro Patrick is here to solve your problem. Pay Chong the track fee (RM180/- now) and I will warm-up your kart for you loh! :). No worries, I will sacrifice my time to help you solve your this problem here FOC! 😀

Participant
Went to Elite track this afternoon hoping to improve my line after reading Mikko’s tips but it is still closed 🙁 Proceed to Sepang instead and found they have 2 very good condition 100cc kart there. The brakes and grip level are really awesome and first time I could feel really confident into the corners. The kart stays straight even when brake hard, unlike many that I have experienced in the past. Most of the components looks new but there are no numbers.

Participant
Mikko: are u the mikko working with BELL helmet malaysia?
For those who wants to get a SNELL certified, ensure you buy those with SA2005 helmet or else FIA would no longer accepting race drivers to use SA2000 helmets.
lots of vendors clearing up SA2000 at very reasonable price (but still not very reasonable to me)
Difference between SA, M and K (taken from SMF.org)
What are the differences between the SA, M and K standards?
SA Standard was designed for auto racing while M Standard was for motorcycling and other motorsports. There are three major differences between them:1. SA standard requires flammability test while the M standard does not;
2. SA standard allows narrower visual field than M standard (Some SA helmets may not be street legal);
3. SA standard has rollbar impact test while M standard does not.
4. The K standards are very similar to the SA standards, however the K standards omit the requirements for flame retardency.
….and here is what the recently completed Malaysian ROK series says:
Note:
Only the following helmet standards are acceptable:
• Snell Foundation 1990-SA, 1995-SA, K-98 and SA2000 (USA)
• British Standards Institution A-Type and A/FR-type BS 6658-85, including amendments.
• SFI Foundation Inc., Spec. SFI 31.1 and 31.2 (USA)Any idea when is the cut off date for SA 2000 certified hemets…….haiyah! rugi woh!
